Tutorials and techniques 2It's time to refresh the tutorial journal! Added some new ones and removed those which, after some time, I found a bit misleading.Tutorials and techniques 21 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Below you'll find a list of tutorials I personally think of as the best on dA. If I have any problems with painting something I usually take a look at one of those.
Is there anything you're having troubles with? Need help looking for a good tutorial? Or maybe you'd like to see a video walk-through of me painting something?
I'm open for suggestions for what kind of tutorial/walk-through you'd like to see from me. If you're interested in anything, post your suggestions in the comments!

Hopefully it will work haha.
how to change the colors in the journal
To change the colors of the journal, change the codes that look like this "#A6B2A6" this is a color code. two first are Red values, two middle ones are green values, and the last two are blue values. RGB.
If you make everyone of them the same letter or number you will get grey.
000000 = Black
FFFFFF = White
FF0000 = Red
00FF00 = green
0000FF = Blue
The colors darkest to lightest is
how to add a background
You need to change the word "link" with an actual link haha.
Which is were you change the background image if you use one.
Copy the code under and paste it in your journal skin

College Guidei thought it would be helpful to make a little college guide for people here. most of my watchers are young, between the ages of 13-16, but i still thought it would be helpful. this might not end up really organized or anything but hopefully it will be informative. if any of you think something should be added or if you have a specific question i'll try and answer it c:College Guide7 months ago in Personal More Like This
*Apply early for college and apply for as many scholarships as possible! Scholarships are your friend!
*Choose your major early! if you go in to college thinking that you can choose a major whenever you're sadly mistaken. Certain majors require certain classes and you don't want to decide your major your junior year because then you'll have to add all those required classes to your schedule and will be bogged down with work.
*Consider what job you'd like to have in the future and base you major on that. I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but if you are planning

Here's the full list of Livestreamers we have as of now. Unfortunately, due to its size it had to be broken into two parts.
If you or someone you know isn't listed at this time, please leave a comment with a link to the relevant deviantart and livestream pages. Also, if anything is misspelled or mislinked, please call it out! AgentDarkmoon is doing most of the updating of this, and tries to do additions weekly and name updates monthly.

Once in a while people will ask me what kind of brush that I used in photoshop. I kept meaning to make this kind of post so I could explain it better. So if you guys have anymore question about photoshop I will be glad to answer it and make another Q&A post.
1. WHAT TYPE OF BRUSH DO YOU USE, IS IT BASIC BRUSH OR A CHALK TYPE BRUSH?

Make sure under the Window> Brushes> Shape Dynamics> Size Jitter's Control is under Pen Pressure. This brush is useful for inking and blocking basic colors.

Ramblings about 'internet fame'A lot of stuff has happened lately in life lately, and is has made me think about things, and about my perspective on it. One of those things, is the internet.Ramblings about 'internet fame'6 months ago in Personal More Like This
As some of you know, I'm a huge nerd. While as kid, I didn't had a computer at home, and I hated those damn machines because I wasn't able to work with them at all (so much fail T__T), I soon caught up when I got my first computer at age 14. And while most of my family expected me to end up as a hopeless internet addict, I soon started to learn myself how to program. The rest is history. With my 26th birthday, I also celebrated being a webprogrammer for 10 years already. Oh yeah, I'm getting old for sure.
The recent chain of events have caused me to think about the internet and it's role in life, however. When I first started out with art, I was only a little girl. Me, and both of my younger sisters, were all very creative. And we spend almost all of our time drawing at the kitchen table, while discussing about the characters we

What does 'Character Design' mean?
The character design is the process which comes after the characterisation and consists in defining the character through his/her physical appearance.
We need to consider a character as a little fictional creature, human or not, that aims to please its creator and the public as well.
While the basic characterization of this fictional creature (his tastes, his fears, his behaviors) may take a little mental effort, as it is a sort of list of emotions, facts and feelings that come and go in the life of a character, the process of visual realization of this creature may not be as simple. That's why many writers and characters creators prefer to rely on experienced hands.
Also many of the mental aspects of the character are not possible to gain by using 'static' visual medium. For 'static' I mean all the illustrations and drawings unable to tell a

How to: Scroll BoxesTransferred from eCSSercise.How to: Scroll Boxes2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
This is the first part of a tutorial series that I will be working on in the future and will be released whenever I find the time for it.
In order to know how I can make them better and to make it easier for you to understand the things I am talking about it would be appreciated if you would leave some feedback!
For this tutorial series I am explaining different elements you can create or modify with the help of CSS. The level of experience that is needed to be able to understand the tutorials can differ and will be in no order. I will try to explain the things as simple as possible though.
To create a scrollbox you don’t need much, just a box with a limited height or width in order to enforce the scrollbar. If you don’t limit the dimensions of the box it will adjust itself to the space given by the browser resolution and settings.
The limited dimension itself doesn’t create the scrollbar,

Your profile page is the first thing people will see when they click on your name, so it's very important to leave a good impression! This article will provide some useful tips and tricks for both premium and non-premium members who want to convert their profile into their own, unique page. First off, some Do's and Don'ts of profile decoration:
Use dA's profile widgets-- there are lots of great options to chose from
Show off some art (that's what people are here for!)
Express your personality through colors, stamps, gifs, etc.
Add so many images that your profile takes forever to load
Use garish or headache-inducing colors
Make text difficult to read with dark backgrounds
While many widgets are restricted or locked for non-premium members, there are still a variety of great widgets that you can add to your profile, even without a membership.

At some point in your career as an artist, you'll be asked to create artwork on commission. Whilst it's a wonderful feeling, being able to make money creating art, it's completely different than selling a personal piece you previously completed - accepting a commission means entering a temporary relationship with your client. As simple it may sounds, there's a lot to satisfying customer's needs, sometimes the best you can do is to say no. Being picky regarding which commission you accept is not a bad thing, but try not to automatically turn down commission because it seems to be violating your artistic integrity, it's hard to survive without paid jobs.
✐ 1. Communication and flexibility
This is the key aspect to being able to work on commissio
My favorite ART suppliesI get asked a lot what pens and pencils I use. So I thought I'd post an updated list of my favorites. I'm a big fan of trying new things, I'm always buying lots of different pens to try out and in my search for the best tools to use for creating comics Ive found these to work the best for my needs.My favorite ART supplies2 years ago in Personal More Like This
My number one question that others ask me is "What do you ink with?"
I use Kuretake brush pens. Here's a link to a sable hair brush pen that I love, it's the closest thing to a real brush I've used. It is pricey though. http://www.jetpens.com/Kuretake-No.-40-Fountain-Hair-Brush-Pen-Sable-Hair-Refill/pd/3958
The less expensive version is the synthetic hair, http://www.jetpens.com/Kuretake-No.-13-Fountain-Hair-Brush-Pen-Red-Body/pd/2661 this brush pen is similar to a Pentel brush pen. http://www.jetpens.com/Pentel-Pocket-Brush-Pen-for-Calligraphy/pd/1793
The cool thing about these Kuretake brush pens is the refill cartridges have nice ink in them that I use, but if you find you don't like the
