Tips: How to get started with the lit community!Hello everyone! My name is Ricky Alaniz otherwise known as chromeantennae and today, I wanna give you guys a little guide on how I really got started here. How I got my name out there a little bit more and really got the courage to do more around these parts.Tips: How to get started with the lit community!2 years ago in Literature Features More Like This
First off, understand that 99% of the literature community here on deviantART will give you just as much in return as you give back to it. It's a natural, human thing. But if you don't give back, you won't receive. That's always the number one thing to remember, but also that we're all here to support each other. Even the most popular of deviants started right where you are. Yes, even the Senior Members and lit CVs were newbies here on this site at one point too. And I know some people are intimidated by Senior Members and literature CVs but these folks are the LAST people to be intimidated by! They're in these positions for the exact opposite reasons-- they're not evil-doers or big bad monsters ready to reject whatever you sugge

all artists were ameteurs onceIt seems like a lot of people who trace anime seem to be linking to this journal as some sort of validation for tracing.all artists were ameteurs once7 years ago in Personal More Like This
I created this journal back when I was the Moderator for Dolls to clarify deviantART's stance on the matter of tracing.
The legal matter of tracing is that it is derivative works and it is only illegal if the original creator of the artwork or artworks has a policy that states "no derivative works" or the copyright holder actually complains about the work itself. Then deviantART will do all in it's power to remove the trace.
Otherwise the derivative work, while highly unoriginal and exceedingly lazy, is indeed ok.
What is not ok is bullying or harassment of people who choose to trace. I don't agree with tracing, and if you've been linked to this journal and are as red as a raving bull right now I'm assuming you don't either but that does not excuse you for shouting and screaming at the person who created the traced artwork. I know you think it's wrong but it's

Comics Are ArtComic-Con Journey to the Heart of The New Summer VacationComics Are Art4 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Americans have a long summer vacation tradition of visiting the foreign capitals of the world and being sure to spend at least one day in each nation’s most iconic art museum. In Paris, we visit the Louvre. In Madrid, the Prado. In Rome, the Borghese. We feel far more comfortable in identifying the different peoples of our planet through examples of their greatest art works than we do about identifying ourselves as being represented by any one iconic “American” art museum or artist. Maybe the country is just too big for one musuem and so it has always fallen to our pop arts to carry the true visual narrative of what’s going on in the hearts and minds of the masses.
Comic-Con has become the new arts and culture go-to in domestic summer vacation destin

Hey there, everyone! Some exciting news I read on this blog from tumblr enseeseven. Also a friend of mine, who lives in England, had snapped some pictures for me. Disney will be re-releasing 23 of their Disney movies, but with the villains of each movie as the box cover. Yes, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is included so Frollo's face will be proudly displayed on the box cover. My sister was so happy to see that Professor Ratigan is there too for The Great Mouse Detective.

Famously said by many, “Ninety percent of success is showing up.” How true it is about a soul killing combination: looking at what our own first efforts in any endeavor, particularly art, result in, and then looking at the works of far more experienced artists. Giving up always seems the logical, if panicked,

I failed my promise to be more active here (as you can well see...). I still have a few photoshoots to upload, but I would like to show you my newest cosplay: Furiosa from Mad Max fury road <3
When I went to the movies I was already bald. (I love bald hair <3) As I left I already knew I had to cosplay Furiosa. Such a badass character! I couldn't help myself!!!
I tried to take pictures for a tutorial of the arm, but I lost track of time (as usual) and had to finish the arm in the night before the shoot. It's basically made of EVA foam, random scraps of metal, silver ink and a lot of work The part of my arm that should exist has been photoshopped, but everything else is truly there, haha.
All pictures taken by my good friend Helena Prado.
I also would like to thank the artist :iconraiss

I am bringing your attention to a documentary, Beauty is Embarrassing, that
deeply inspired me after a screening last week. The life wisdom and positive
philosophy unfolding over a lifetime of living as an artist was deeply motivating.
I invited Wayne White, the subject of this documentary, to join deviantART afterwards.
I thought this would be something you would enjoy no matter where you might be at
on your own personal journey as an artist. While watching this I was also reminded
of the heartfelt explanations by many artists of what it means to choose the life of an Artist.
"Do what you love, It's going to lead where you want to go."
