I've been playing Alien: Isolation for the last few weeks and it is scary as hell.
Alien Isolation Q&A with bradwright
Brad Wright, longtime deviant in the dA community, steps into the shoes (space boots) of Giger and Moebius as a concept designer for the Alien Isolation videogame. The game reportedly marks a return to the terror of the original “Alien” film in which scaring the audience to death was the goal, rather than the uncorking escalating levels of defensive firepower that defined the sequels.
Tip of the Day: Playing the Game of LifeI used to spend all my free time on games. Arcade games, card games, home entertainment systems... etc. Until I found the best game of all - LIFE. Not the board game but the real thing.Tip of the Day: Playing the Game of Life3 years ago in Personal More Like This
You only get one life and there are many levels that you can pass. Try to think of life as a game. Always trying to get to that "next level." Identify what you could achieve to get to the "next level" in your life and put your energy into it!

Steam must be reading my mindlol. Had a funny coincidence recently. On Wednesday night I was talking to my friend Jordan about the Batman Arkham series. (He still hasn't played Arkham City yet. He's out of his mind!)Steam must be reading my mind1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I was asking for his opinion on whether or not I should purchase Arkham Origins or whether I should skip it and wait for Arkham Knight during the latter part of the year.
I know that Arkham Origins wasn't developed by Rocksteady studios, the devs that made the first two games. Plus I heard it was bugged as all Hell on release and felt more like an expansion than a transformative sequel. Hence why I was tentative to get it.
I woke up on Thursday morning and checked the Steam store page and what do I find?
Weekend deal! 75% off all Batman games!
I was flabbergasted. I remember checking the store while I was talking to Jordan on Skype and it was still going for its original price. So I decided to take advantage of this opportunity. I got the main game, the season pass and the Black mas
2014 Yaya Han Calendar - it's here!I thought now would be a good time to make the calendar available to the public since they were shipped out to me yesterday! After the successful trial run of last year's calendar, I wanted to make an even better cosplay calendar for 2014!2014 Yaya Han Calendar - it's here!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
To summarize: The 2014 Limited Edition Yaya Han Calendar features 12 months of new cosplay images printed on glossy 11x17 paper, which flips open to a 11x24 calendar. Out of the 12 monthly images, only 2 have been released before, all others are brand new and shot exclusively for the calendar. None of the images will be available as a print or poster, you will only be able to see them in the calendar.
FREE shipping within USA and Canada, $10 shipping everywhere else! It is again $24.99, just like last year, and will be signed and personalized by me! I'll post some teaser pics soon but you get a great idea of the calendar's look from the cover and back cover alre

When recently asked how his political candidate would explain certain positions taken during the
nomination process with contrary positions to be taken during the general election, the campaign chief
replied that stated political positions were “like an Etch A Sketch,”—meaning they could simply be
flipped over, erased and begun over from scratch.
Were it that adult life were as simple as a happy Etch A Sketch memory from childhood.
(The campaign chief took heavy heat for his flippant, if truthful, statement.) The incident made
me wonder how many of us had early experiences as “sketch artists” with that incredible red toy that
has become almost standard issue for so many children still to this day.

Most denizens of the West think of New Zealand as a little known outpost of civilization somewhere beyond Australia at the ends of the Earth.
Could any land be any farther from the European motherland, birthplace of the Renaissance that is the Genesis-point of the visual arts narrative we continue expanding and evolving today? And yet this remote country of islands in the Pacific has suddenly become a cinematic storytelling powerhouse, a film-friendly factory for the creation of some of the most important touchstone mass entertainment experiences to influence our popular culture in recent years.
Last chicken in Sainsbury's“Dirty Bird”, a fried chicken vendor in Wales, has been forced to defend its choice in logo:Last chicken in Sainsbury's10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Some rather prudish individuals have complained that it looks a mite dubious, while the owner of Dirty Bird has insisted that people are seeing what they want to see, and not what was intended.
It is claimed that the logo is simply the lower case initials of the company placed back to back in order to form the neck and wings of a cockerel.
Seeing one of Dirty Bird’s recent promotional images, however; one might be given cause to doubt their professed innocence.
And people ask why I like living on this spiteful little island

From Myth And Legend
“The wind within the trees was a whisper that spoke our tongue, and the stars in the sky shone on the gods of our heavens, alight and alive. What is science against alchemy, we asked them, what is coincidence against prophecy? Kings and beggars stand equal as fates unfold and worlds awake, as heroes rise and deities fall… among nymphs and mermaids, against harpies and sorceries, we must stand as one. Will you brave the lands of myth and legend with us?”

EyesI'm a dorkEyes3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Since this is my personal online journal, I feel like I can ramble here about science, and my fascination with biology and genetics all I want : ) But you be warned, this is gonna be long and dorky. It also includes features, Not that my journals are widely read, but I think it's a cool thing to do. If anyone of the artists doesn't want to be featured here, note me and I will remove your work.
While I was always interested in anatomy in general, both for drawing and because I'm a biology dork, I have always loved drawing eyes. I think most people do, It's a beautifully complex organ. It stands for many things in many cultures, every single religion/culture has their own myths and beliefs about what the eyes represent in a person: how they can tell if a person lies, how they are the windows to one's soul, etc'. They are of great significance to, say, a portrait artist, they hold expressions, show emotions, catch the light. We cry, we smile with our eyes, we hate and we s

Am I ready to start freelancing?Hi,Am I ready to start freelancing?3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I think that anyone with at least "good" artistic skill, and a willingness to work hard, can find enough art job opportunities to stay busy and bring in some money. (However, there is a lot of competition, here on DA, AND out in the real world, so you have to be ready to put some effort into it.) This particular discussion deals with commissions (finding clients who need art and providing that art... as opposed to creating a body of work and then trying to sell it.)
I earn my living as a freelance artist. Finding freelance work involves hours of work producing art, but also hours of work finding new jobs and corresponding with clients each week. It requires a certain amount of (artistic skill,) confidence, patience, organization, motivation, and perseverance. Some clients have a very clear vision for their project and can describe it well. Others are a bit disorganized or unmotivated requiring extra effort on my part (and some clients should just be avoided completely). Even if you

I am haunted in this holiday season by the opening lines of Charles Dickens’s A Tale of Two Cities, his novel about a society 250 years ago coming apart in its seemingly irreconcilable divisions. Could it be these lines define where we have come to find ourselves today?

it was the worst of times,

it was the age of foolishness,
it was the epoch of belief,
it was the epoch of incredulity,

Here is my new Earthworm Jim redesign! I went for a slimmer version that will focus more on speed and weapons. I also did away with the robot suit and made him an actual worm with arms and legs. In this tutorial you will learn how to composite sketches, create vector rock textures, and use the warp tool to create unique symbol instances.
Here is a few images from the Video!

Is there anything you're having troubles with? Need help looking for a good tutorial? Or maybe you'd like to see a video walk-through of me painting something?
I'm open for suggestions for what kind of tutorial/walk-through you'd like to see from me. If you're interested in anything, post your suggestions in the comments!
