TF2: That's Some Shonky Business There! The dusty canyon of Dustbowl was now coated in a crisp blanket of snow. The BLU Spy shivered slightly as snowflakes dusted his mask, landing on the exposed skin that framed his eyes. He stood not far from the base, cloaked, leaning up against one of the many huts that littered the battlefield.TF2: That's Some Shonky Business There!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
The Spy enjoyed the snow when it came. It wasn't often that it did. He enjoyed it because it meant that he could terrorize the RED Sniper, who he knew from past experiences, hated the snow. Not that he voiced such an opinion to his team mates. He'd just grin and tolerate it. But Spy knew, after an incident a year ago when it had snowed
The snow last year had been heavier, barely becoming slush under the feet of fighting men. The Spy was stood in the same spot then as he did now, his trouser leg's and fine leather gloves were drenched through from contact with the freezing powder that dusted the ground. He had spent the last five or so minutes creating a humongous snowball th

Remember months ago when I said I couldn't get an advertiser for my website? Well yesterday I was finally approved, but I have more reasons than that to be so ecstatic right now. I was expecting the advertisements to generate a few dollars a day for just some addition income, but it turns out that the ads are generating a lot more than I expected. When I say a lot, I mean TEN TIMES what I expected!!!!!!
It's only been about 24 hours, so it's still a little early to estimate just how much this could total in the long run. However, according to the numbers I've been crunching over and over, not only does this new source of income blow out any I've been making so far from commissions or YouTube, but IT COULD NOW BE POSSIBLE TO THIS FULL TIME!!!!
I'm going to give the site a little bit more tim
No Excuses: Being a ProfessionalToday's "No Excuses" Is a little different. It's less about an excuse that I've been told and more of a misconception people have.No Excuses: Being a Professional1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Last week I did a "Tutorial Tuesday" on becoming a professional. You can read the post yourself, but in a nutshell it's about getting paid for the artwork you create for other people. After I posted it I received several questions and I realized many of you have a terrible misconception as to what it means to be a professional. So I figured I'd use today to clear this stuff up.
First and foremost, I'm a very strong believer that you should always be compensated for the work you do. In your career, especially early in your career, you'll be asked to do alot of work for free. They'll be alot of excuses as to why you don't deserve to be paid: "You don't have enough experience," "You're too expensive," "Artists are a dime a dozen, if you won't

Panelling and Planning
-Drawing : Panels, shading, angles, techniques, and so forth:
1) Plan your comic out carefully first- just do a few scribbles on what is happening in your comic (are they talking? Any action?)
2) If you're not "good" at drawing people/animals/whatever, get a book on anatomy, watch anime/read manga to get a fair idea on what things should look like- PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.
3) Camera angles: watch tv/movies/read manga to see how the camera is featured: Is it close-up? Birds eye view? Front on?

Embracing DeceptionMidday yesterday (Saturday) I went to the grocery store, alone, in drag. Alex needed eggs for cupcakes, and was too tied up with the baking to go herself. If this were night, or I was going downtown, I wouldn't have considered it. But since it was public and midday, I decided to go.Embracing Deception10 months ago in Personal More Like This
And something magic happened:
I've gone out in drag before, many times. It's (mostly) uncomfortable. People stare. Kids laugh. Mothers usher their children behind them. It used to get me down, but eventually I've built up a bit of a tolerance to it. It's just part of being trans in the Bible belt.
I've often heard the argument that crossdressers crossdress for the attention. They go by the old adage: "negative attention is better than no attention", and maybe there's something to that. But when I'm out, getting hollered at by teenagers, the only thing I want is for the attention to go away.
To become invisible.
This, I think, is the allure to passing.
It's a kind of mag

As I left here to go home yesterday I heard for the first time about the three young women that had been kept prisoner for ten years in Cleveland.
Tragic. Reprehensible. That's what I think.
Out of the 592 deviations presently in my gallery I know they almost all depict women in peril, bondage, some state of capture and/or slavery. This is all mere fantasy, and I still maintain that all my girls, at least the ones that want to, gain freedom at some point. (Why do you think the delicious Keiko has to get recaptured so often?) For as much of a pervert as I am, I still have a tenderness toward women, and though I may fantasize about capture, keeping, and whatever else, I don't condone in any form or fashion such activity in Real Life. Bondage and capture games, even slavery of sorts, between consenting adults is fine. However, to steal someone's life is a crime worthy of the severest punishment, and yes...I sup
Does Bondage art Promote Rape? And if so, what to do about it?Does Bondage art Promote Rape?6 months ago in Personal More Like This
I started really chewing on this while reading some responses to Blurred Lines which referenced an article that linked "viewing images of objectified women to greater acceptance of sexual harassment and rape."
And it worries me a little.
Because AS a BDSM individual I happen to participate in, consume, and create a lot of art and activities that FROM THE OUTSIDE looks like women being objectified. Any member of the BDSM community worth his or her salt would tell you otherwise, that consent is at the very heart of a healthy Dom Sub relationship. Just read some of Shiniez' "Sunstone" if you had any doubts.
But the truth is the
No Excuses: "I don't have enough time"Now I've heard the excuse plenty of times: "I'd like to, but i just don't have time to do it." And I'd like to discount this as a cut and dry excuse like I have in the past with other excuses, but its not that simple here. Where inadequate software, and "I'm not good enough" could easily be overcome with some discipline and dedication, "Not enough time" has some merit to it.No Excuses: "I don't have enough time"2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The problem is, not matter what you do you're still limited to 24 hours a day. And no matter what, there are still several things in the day that take up your time and there is no way around it. Some of those things are obvious like sleeping and eating. Most of you (if not all of you) have full time jobs, or go to school full time. Or maybe go to school part time, and work the other part time. There are even things that take up your time that you don't even think about, like chores, exercise, family obligations. All of these cut into your limited 24 hours a

Yesterday, the 24th, was my birthday. 28 years ago I started my journey, and yesterday I took time to remember that. It was serendipity that it was the day after my name change hearing, but something about it rang true to me. My first birthday as a new person.
Yesterday, the 24th, early in the morning, my Grandpa died.
His journey as Grover ended. His next, whatever it might be, just began.
It's a sentiment I used to fear, then disdain, then simply ignore.
But now, meditating on reincarnation and renewal
I see it happening all the time.
Enjoy your new day everyone.
How I got into modelingI've been asked 4 times this week how I got into modeling and got where I am today. How I got into modeling10 months ago in Personal More Like This
This question does come up a lot. So I'm making a journal about it so that I can just link people to this journal when they ask me instead of typing everything out every time. =]
So here we go!
When I was 15/16, I started doing "photo shoots" in my back yard with my sister using my little digital camera. Like most girls that age, I had self esteem issues. I wanted to feel comfortable in my own skin and feel beautiful. So, that's where it all started.
I began using deviantart to post my "photo shoots" and self portraits. A professional photographer in the area found my deviantArt, and wanted to do a real photo session with me.
I still have some of those photos here on my deviantArt.
Then I continued to do more photo shoots with him.
One day, vampirefreaks.com announced that they were looking for models.
I applied, and was one of like 40 at the time who were accepted. Out of the hundreds
Happy Deathday to me.Happy Deathday to me.2 months ago in Personal More Like This
On January 4th 2010 I was seriously injured in a hit and run accident. Both of my legs were broken, my left arm snapped, most of the fingers in my left hand broken, a damaged verterbrae in my neck, my pelvis cracked in two, and a little brain damage.
On that day, I felt quite miserable about myself. I had lost my home twice, as well as two jobs. I lived with my Aunt who daily complained of my presance of me being a burden on her and her household, regardless to the fact that I used the little money I earned from my job as a security officer to contribute to the household. She wanted me to go live in a homeless shelter.
For weeks, I felt ashamed over the fact that I had to depend on others, yet I was still a burden on them. The thought that if I were to die, not only would everyone be better off, but I would have finaly done something right. I'd be one less mouth to feed, one less person taking up space in their homes, one less incompent foreigner who doesn't know how things work

dominants came out healthiest/happiest, switches in the middle, and subs at the bottom, but still above all the non-kinky samples.
here's the abstract:
It has been generally thought that the practice of bondage-discipline, dominance-submission, sadism-masochism (BDSM) is in some form associated with psychopathology. However, several more recent studies suggest a relative good psychological health of BDSM practitioners.
The aim of this study was to compare scores of BDSM practitioners and a control group on various fundamental psychological characteristics.
The results mostly suggest favorable psychological characteristics of BDSM practitioners compared with the control group; BDSM practitioners were less neurotic, more extraverted, more open to new experiences, more conscienti

For all my science-o-philes out there, I highly recommend watching (or listening to) the lecture Edward O. Wilson gave on group selection and eusociality.
Go here http://longnow.org/seminars/02012/apr/20/social-conquest-earth/ to do that.
Eusocial species have only arisen two dozen times in the history of life on earth, and when they have, they have completely dominated the biological landscape. If you've wondered the "why are we here" and the "where are we going" questions, here's an excellent exploration on those topics.
Personally I love this talk because in the context of Eusociality: transgenderism can not only be natural, but in fact contribute to the resilience of the group through the advantages of biodiversity.
Crossdreamers also posted an excellent blog on transgender animals here http://www.crossdreamers.com/2009/12/t

Unsurprisingly, that high quality of work leads to them either having their work ripped off or operating in fear of that happening. They, quite rightly, want to protect their art with a watermark, something which I'm not against at all.
What I am against, what I hate, is people using that god-awful DA watermark.
If you are a good artist: don't be a lazy git. Make your own watermark, use your own logo. You'll protect your work without doing it the disservice of having some automatically-generated arse-smear ruining it.

Yes, Bardock certainly was born from the anime. However, I don’t remember the particulars of how it went at that time. As for his design, I think I probably just gave some editorial supervision to what was suggested to me by [people from] the anime side of things. I don’t r
