Who is responsible for the Murder of Cinderella?
Solve the Murder Mystery Contest →
It has now been two weeks since the beautiful fairy tale that was my life has come crashing down into utter devastation and nightmare.
My darling beloved, my Princess, my Cinderella is no more.
She has been taken away from me and from all of you, her legions and generations of fans of her grand and glorious story, by dastardly murderers most heinous, heartless and foul... and as of this hour still unknown.
The personal story of my Cinderella has always been a reassurance (to youth but to all ages as well) that true love will always conquer all adversity, sabotage, and lies. My dear Cinderella

There is no cosmic law that states artists must suffer many long years and demeaning day-jobs before a window of opportunity cracks open just enough to hop on through.
Fellow deviant Brian Kesinger is a case in point.
His first “day-job” in 1996—he was hired straight out of his senior year of high school—was drawing Tarzan for Disney.
Brian stayed at Disney and he considers every day there a part of his ongoing education as an artist. He most recent

The Spectre of Magical Realism Comes to TexasGabriel García Márquez
When he died last April at age 87, he had for a half century been a candidate for “world’s greatest living writer.”
Author of short stories and novels, including his masterpiece, One Hundred Years of Solitude, he received the Neustadt International Prize for Literature in 1972 and the Nobel Prize for Literature in Literature in 1982. He was a fierce critic of the United States and had a friend in admirer Fidel Castro, with whom he sometimes shared notes on his works-in-progress. He was banned as a “subversive” from entering the U.S. for several decades until President Clinton lifted the tr

"BERWALD!! WHERE IS THE HUMAN?!" he could hear Mathis yell in the distance. (Y/n) clung to him, shaking in fear. Ber then slithered across the border. "Berwald! If you leave," Mathis huffed, trying to catch his breath, "consider you're self exiled!"

PART_2 ! General
So... this is the first part in featuring some extremely useful tutorials which can be found on DA (and some from off-site as well). This one isn't limited on digital art only, but the rest will be. I wanted to post everything in one journal, but theres 200 thumbnail limit, sooo yeah I decided to divide everything in following categories: sketching/referencing/anatomy etc, General, blending, steps, color, perspective/Composition/value, Walkthrough, nose, hair, skin, photoshop/wacom, brushes, eyes, lips, textures, ears, fabric/clothes, environment, misc (how to paint water, fire, rocks, rain, clouds, pearls etc. ). This one is about Sketching/referencing/anatomy etc.. In every journal I will also include some interesting videos that I think you should check out And, if you know about some tutorials that can be helpful to other artists, note me, thank you :heart

A New Wind Lifts Storytelling
First imagined as a bedtime tale for his son by Kenneth Grahame in 1908, The Wind in the Willows has remained in the top twenty children’s stories ever since. But things have been getting weird out in the Willows, as the new comic on deviantART, Weirding Willows, will attest to.
Badger, Mole, Ratty and Mr. Toad are back… but they’re joined by Alice, Frankenstein’s Monster, Mowgli, The White Rabbit, Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny as they defend the world from the Wicked Witch of the West, Doctor Moreau, the Mad Hatter, Mister Hyde and the Queen of Hearts (not to mention the flying nightmare monkeys from Wizard of Oz.)

I am wary of my following message not being received with the full gravity it deserves. It is not my intention to unduly alarm the deviantART community, but... LaurenKitsune is at this time unaccounted for. All attempts on our part to contact her have failed. It is my hope that she has simply taken a much deserved unscheduled pre-Halloween “vacation” and will be back in online communication soon.
Before going dark, LaurenKitsune was good enough to write and transmit a report on the Slender Man phenomenon sweeping the Internet. That report is published here fo

The Different Categories of Art TheftIn a particular art-theft report fiasco that my friend had to experience, I decided to clarify what it means to be an art thief. This is a hot topic it seems. Everyone's on a red alert for art thieves these days:The Different Categories of Art Theft4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
At thieves come in different forms and motivations.
An art thief is someone who posts another artist's work and gives PROBABLE CAUSE for others to potentially ASSUME that they were the -original creator- of the artwork.
There are four types of thieves that fall into this definition. Let's call them Type A ("Photobucket/Google Image") thieves, Type B ("Altering") thieves, Type C ("Trace/Copy") thieves, and the most malicious kind, Type D ("Identity Theft") thieves.
A Type A Thief (aka. "Photobucket" Thief):
Comes to DeviantART thinking it's like Photobucket or MySpace, and they post their personal favorite Google Search images because they want to show off their fav

A Gallery of Narrative Dreams
A magic of effective art can be a drawing that appears to be a movie still, clipped from a film narrative, evoking a powerful sense of storytelling— and the viewer wants to know the rest of the story. This phenomenon has recently manifested itself on deviantART— and in a big way— once again.

“Sometimes we lay aside our own troubles when we wipe away another's tears.”

his life is not easy; a winding, sometimes whimsical, sometimes tragic journey that ultimately finds terminus in the same common destination for each of us. No matter the brave, fierce constructs we build and serve that would have us believe we are each one of us all alone as we make this journey, we make our way toward the end of all things side-by-side in our community of the living each day defying death. Our paths may be wildly divergent—the way of the hungry and impoverished traveling the same timeline with the grotesquely indulgent, the very best of us side-by-side with the most evil of us; but all headed for the same fate: dust.
