“-sigh- Why did I come here? This is stu-?” -crack- “Wh-who’s there?”
Kevin fast walked towards where he had heard the branch breaking. As he got closer, his pace quickened. He moved forward, faster and faster, and he started to panic. Why couldn’t he feel his feet, turn left or right, or even slow down? Kevin began panting heavily, feeling that he was going to lose consciousness. He spread his arms, trying to grab onto a tree or something from the playground, but he couldn’t keep his grip even when he did manage to catch hold of a branch.
“HELP!” he cried. His vision was blurring. He couldn’t feel his arms now, and he lost grip of his flashlight. It fell to the ground and he couldn’t see anything of the forest on this moonless night.
Suddenly, his legs stopped, and he almost f

"Shh," I giggled, running out the front doors with my blue scarf attached to my neck. I stood out in the dark waiting for Sky to catch up with me.
"So, where are you taking me?" Sky asked audibly.
I shushed him again, and whispered, "It's a surprise."
He walked to where I was standing, his white, visible breath exceeding from his lips. He lowered his tone, "Is it always this cold here?"
"Only at night." I giggled and intertwined my chilled fingers with his. "Come on."
Leading my angel to our newly purchased white pickup truck, I whispered in his ear. "Get in." Undoing our locked fingers, I motioned towards the passenger seat.
"Come on, Bloom. It's four in the morning. At least tell me where we're going." The King of Eraklyon begged.
I laughed quietly and stroked Sky's face, "You're rather impatient today. Hop in."
Sky smirked and put his hand on mine. "Alright," he said, turning away and opening the passenger door.
I got into the truck on the opposite side. As I put the keys in the ign

All the happy memories are hidden.
It's all in the past
And to go there I am forbidden.
I cannot go back.
I cannot change anything anymore.
The door's always closed
And my tears silently hit the floor.
My only wish is
To feel the true happiness once again,
To be loved once more
And forget about the sadness and pain.
Behind the closed door
Everything seems to be all bright and warm.
But I'm standing here
And all the time everything changes form.
Nothing stays the same.
Nothing ever stays as it was before.
But behind the door
There's standing the you I so much adore.
But we closed the door.
We both decided to go different ways.
Do you regret it?
Do you think of me as go past the days?
I do. Yes, I do.
You're on my mind before I go to bed,
When I close my eyes
All those memories flash in my head.
All those times with you
Now they are all gone and lost forever.
And so the closed door
Won't let me see you not now, not ever.
Behind the closed door
I stand wit

The cave was blazing.
Cave walls, the ground, and everything in there were all burning ferociously.
The sounds of collapsing stones where mixed with the sound of boiling water.
Lighting up the night sky, that intense blaze shouted out far from the cave's mouth.
The cave was almost filled with smoke and it was as good as completely dark. In this smothering darkness, were only the flickering of the fire provided some light.
The girl was depending on this faint light to see anything.
After a while, her expression slowly became less tense.
The smoke around her was not thick anymore, and she could clearly see where it was going now.
As long as she passed the same way, she would be able to see the exit and be saved from the complete darkness.
She was wounded, but still able to walk; she suddenly stopped.
She could see by the light of the blazing fire that a figure walked slowly towards her.
It was a woman, wearing old and burnt clothing.

I keep myself far away
So that I may enjoy my Day
Ignoring men’s endless scars
So that I can go drink at the bars.
But why, isn’t isolation the bane
That will drive most insane?
Not for me, what do they care
If I go bald or pull out my hair?
At a distance I’ll stay so I’ll be at peace
I don’t want to mourn or be on someone’s emotional leash
Why? Simply because I’m human, why all the fuss?
You never cared about my work so I’m not going to cuss
Over you, him, her, not over any folk
So don’t lump me in the same bowl of yolk
As you people, didn’t you know?
That I’m not going to be a part of your show.
If that hurts you, then have fun with that.
Now whine and cry as I play with my cat

The next five days were painful, yet helpful to my ever growing progress. I felt exhausted every day after our training sessions; however, my experience with magic increased proportionally well. I'd never thought I could learn so much in such a small feet of time.
Flora had taught me various subjects on magic, survival, and life. The more important things such as trusting others and value, I held them deep within my consciousness. I felt entirely responsible for the deaths caused by my hand. With every training day, I used that as my motivation to become stronger.
Today, Flora surprised me with small gifts; a small hunting knife for protection and a cloak to wear much like her own. I knew I would need the hunting knife, especially when my magic would fail to protect me. The cloak seemed to have been crafted by silk, though I felt a bit of emptiness from it; like it was crafted by something less inviting.
She also brought upon more pleasing news to my ears. We were to begin our departur

November, senior year of high school. Chapter title: “Decision.”
I think it was poetry. “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock,” I believe. But I’m not too sure.
You see, I was too busy daydreaming to really pay attention.
Or, should I say, “lost in thought”?
Anyway, my brain was so preoccupied with other thoughts that there just simply wasn’t room for even the discussion going on in one of the two classes I didn’t absolutely despise—English. The other was Calculus.
Oh, my brain.

But, as much as I sincerely loved math, it didn’t like me back. That, and I had recently learned that you don’t actually get to see pictures. Just locked up in a room cranking out numbers as you get back codes and images tha

The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still
But nobody wants to know him,
They can see that he's just a fool,
And he never gives an answer,
But the fool on the hill,
Sees the sun going down,
And the eyes in his head,
See the world spinning 'round.
In a town off in the English countryside, all knew of the man on the hill. Of course, those ignoramuses called him the fool, not that they ever bothered to get to know him or ask his story.
The man with messy blond hair and thick eyebrows sat up on that hill day after day, seeing the sun rise and fall out over the horizon with his eyes shining as brightly as emeralds held up to the light. But no one knew exactly what he was doing up there.
If they had asked the poor man, he would have told them he was waiting.
For you see, he actually had a very nice reason to wait up on that hill each and every day. And that reason was you.
Well on the way,

Why 'Marriage?'Why can't gays have all the rights as married straight couples, just not the title of marriage? Why 'Marriage?'2 years ago in Editorial More Like This
Why can't women have all the same voting rights as men, just not the title of being a voter?
Why can't immigrants have all the same rights as natives, just not the title of being American?
Why can't Muslim Americans have all the same religious rights as us, just not the title of being patriotic?
Why can't black people get the same water as white people, just not from the same water fountain?
Because to accept anything less than equality is inequality.
If a couple is dedicated and works hard to achieve something such as a long-term relationship, they deserve the title. They do not deserve to have their efforts cast aside and labeled with some second-class bastardization of the reward.
A marriage is a marriage. Accept nothing less.

when you say you love me?
It seems to flow
off your tongue so easily.
There’s no trace of hesitation
lodged in your voice.
The wind blows
and seasons change
but your love for me
remains the same.
Despite the pain
lodged in my memories
you shine a dim light on me
and lead me towards you again.
Don’t you see?
Don’t you know what you’ve done?
The stars are gleaming
and the lights go out.
You pull me close
and refuse to let go.
I cry and scream.
Punch and shout.
You don’t let go.
You won’t let me breathe.
Yes, I’m suffocating.
Please, let me be!
Let go, let go, let go!
I can’t take it.
I want out.
Your eyes are empty
but your mouth is grinning.
My only way out
is through that window.
You give me a choice.
Do I stay or do I go?
You love me.
I love you.
That’s the way it shall remain.

I sat with my legs crossed underneath my overly stuffy and poofy gown, glaring at my father from across the table. Just like the rest of the year that had passed since I had decided to take a vow of silence my father tried his best to ignore me. Though I found it odd that he was shifting so much in his seat, the last time I had seen him this worked up was when I first stopped talking. So since I couldn't talk I simply stared at him, knowing he would crack eventually.
He finally caught my eye and gave me a sad attempt at a smile “So ___ my dear our you enjoying your meal. I thought it would be nice to have your favorite meal, at least it use to be. Also I had some new riding gear made for you since I heard you had a little accident on your last ride. I do hope I did a good job at picking them out.” he rambled on, making me wonder what he was up too. He was cut off how ever by Lillia, his new wife and the reason I stopped talking, cleared he

"Aria, this is Slice, Slice, this is Aria." Jules said, grasping his young female daughter's shoulders as Slice's mother held his shoulders, the two shook hands and went off to talk. Slice and Aria were alone.
"So, Slice, what do you want to do?" she asked as Slice was lost in her eyes, but snapped out of it.

"Ari? What kind of name's that? It's cute!" she said as she embraced the red hedgehog, hugging him. Slice blushed, but hugged her back. Aria broke from his shoulder and saw something in the distance, taking his hand and running at unnatural speed towards it. Slice was afraid at first, but began to enjoy going at this speed.

its another preying glare to slap my face
and another glare that heats my cheeks with nervous fire
I wonder if, day after day,
if people see my fear, if they see how I shake.
When they walk by, I stumble away
because I know they don't want me near them.
I wonder if they pity me
If they see the lonely child inside my glass skin.
Sometimes they give me gentle eyes
because they feel sorry for how lonley I really am inside.
I wonder if they know I don't fit in,
if they try to welcome me but I'm too naive to see.
But everytime I just walk away because-
because everytime I try is another crash and burn.

Two weeks later…
Where were they taking him? The cage was hoisted up and was being transported by human hands to somewhere dark, a room inside the house he was outside of before. The fox was thrashing the bars of his miniature prison, trying to break free but the effort was useless as it only ended with the red fox hurting his own body. The man carrying him was chuckling at the relentless fox who wanted to flog his face apart and flee.
“Woah-ho! We've got a live one here!” he roared in praise.
His words meant nothing to the fox, vulpes vulpes. He was getting angry at this man the longer he kept him cooped up in this living hell, this cage with limited space and not the freedom he was accustomed to. A few more steps and Grandpa set the cage upon the ground before turning a lamp nearby on, casting a light around the room. The fox jumped, looking around with his frozen face. This is not where he was meant to be. Not at all. He needed to free himself....but how would he
