Design a Zombie CompetitionWe are working on a new project, one that is in full swing as we speak. We are creating a series of toys, well, models to be more precise. ZOMBIES! We have a set of 5 being sculpted as we speak. But we are creating 5 more, 5 designed by you. You'll be accredited for your work on the base of the model, as well as on the models' box. It's a very good way of getting something great on your portfolio and you'll get your design fully cast and sent to you to go with your portfolio.Design a Zombie Competition11 months ago in Personal More Like This
OKAY So what's the deal, what do we want?
The image attached are the proportions we want, it's not quite CHIBBI proportions as an example, look up the artwork for "Super puzzle Fighter" many Street Fighter enthusiasts will know where we are going with this. Okay, so those are the proportions we want what about the rest?
Imagine the most twisted zombie you can think of and that's what we want, but in a semi-cute fashion. Recently, in the latest episode i
New Rules, and Submissions Re-OpenedWe indeed made it back, my members! And with a shiny new set of rules.New Rules, and Submissions Re-Opened3 years ago in Personal More Like This
It actually shines lots, but is quite short, so please be sure to read them before submitting. (:
The rules for GALLERY submissions are these:
We don't accept WIPs. Only finished works, please, no half-coloured pictures.
We don't accept excessively mature or explicit deviations, we want our Group to be age-friendly and not everyone knows what a Mature Content filter is, nor cares about turning it on.
When submitting a story/comic divided into chapters, please be sure to submit the first chapter (or prologue) into the gallery folder „Prologues“. Any other chapters should be submitted to the folder „Excerpts“.
The submission limit will be set to one (1) per week (given that we are one thousand lefties in here already!), so choose your works wisely.
We only accept works you have done YOURSELF! Please be

Apologies for missing out on the CritStop last week. I was at a weekend long concept-design workshop which didn't leave me with much time to do a post.
I might run down some of the things we did in the workshop in a future post, but this week I thought I would do something a little bit different. I have been getting quite a few queries over the last few weeks about making the choice between formal training courses such as university or college over that of self-teaching and using online resources and short courses. One of these was Nyte-Tyme who wrote:
"I mentioned before that I am currently attending a school called ------- University. So far, my first semester of a Junior year here has been bad. Art history classes (which I think are somewhat necessary) a Physics of Light and Color class. A web design class and a video and audio class which was essentially a film class after awhile. But I've been recently looking into C
The Alternative Limb ProjectThe Alternative Limb Project by Sophie de Oliveira Barata is a project focused on creating highly realistic and unique prosthetic limbs for amputees. These limbs are designed to stand out, to draw attention to something many people are afraid to look at. The prosthetic are carefully designed by Sophie, a long time artist and special effects artist, to reflect the personalty and hobbies of the wearer. The goal of the whole project is to draw positive attention to something that is normally viewed in a negative light. While the pieces aren't necessarily meant for everyday wear, they function more like an expensive dress or a piece of jewelry that you would wear on a special occasion. The Alternative Limb Project1 year ago in Art Features More Like This

Yet Another Giveaway~ *closed*Hi~ well, I've decided to have another giveaway in honor of New Years :iconyayitalyplz:~! So, much like the other, leave a comment in this journal saying what you'd like; and, leave a favourite. I'll be using the favourite list to assign each participant a number. This one, unlike the other, won't be as rushed for participants, in hopes of having more people participating so I can pick 2-3 winners this time around. Winners will be picked on 12/28 at midnight. Good luck~ Ciao!Yet Another Giveaway~ *closed*9 months ago in Personal More Like This
Edit: I'm sorry if I'm not clear enough about this, but considering most people have understood right away, I didn't realize I needed to elaborate. THIS IS AN ART GIVEAWAY. I'M NOT GIVING AWAY POINTS OR MONEY, I DON'T HAVE EITHER OF THOSE.
Edit 2: I'll draw the winners at 10 o'clock instead of midnight.
Congrats to :iconTR45: and :iconRiseJackFrost:~! You two are the winners~
If I finish early, I might even pick a third winner.

MASSIVE ONLINE ART THEFT!!!Please Note The Edits below...MASSIVE ONLINE ART THEFT!!!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
The website http://imagixs.com/ is posing itself, it seems, as an online coloring book... One their page it says....
"Imagixs is a free coloring page search engine. You can find any kind of coloring page with Imagixs!
Just type what you're looking for in the search box and get your free coloring pages and pictures instantly!"
This website is taking all of OUR art, and posting them online as coloring books. I was alerted that a lot of my art is one it. A lot of other peoples art is on it too. You can pretty much type anything into that search bar and stolen work comes up. I strongly urge everyone to search their most well known DA screen names on that website and see what pops up. And if your work pops up, contact the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page and complain. If your work doesn't pop up, and you are just outraged that they are stealing at, do the same thing. Please. It helps us all out.

A little story...Wanted to share this story with you guys, and future creators:A little story...1 year ago in Personal More Like This
After getting out of a slump, I wanted to share this story of something I went through a few years back. Bit of a read, but thanks for sticking through it
As you know, Comic-Con is arriving and as I prepare for it, I grow more and more anticipated with anxiety/joy in regards to the re-release of Last Man Standing.
As long, challenging, and mind-opening the creation of LMS was, something really stuck with me.
Before I had created LMS, I wanted to work for WETA Workshop. To those that don't know them, they've created props, designs, sets, costumes, and more for The Lord of the Rings, Avatar, District-9, Elysium, The Hobbit and many more films.
I was obsessed and inspired with them. The creator, Richard Taylor was always a huge inspiration to me. After viewing supplements on the Extended Editions of The Lord of the Rings DVDS, I knew right there: I HAD TO WORK FOR THEM.
So I al

Can I have your attention please? I am not going away, but you're welcome to walk out the door. What i have to say, may not be enjoyable. For too many years i have kept quiet. But now i have a microphone, I HAVE A VOICE. There is no escape, I demand and now have your full attention
I am transgender, and I'm here to speak out. I am not doing this for attention, or to trick guys into sleeping with me. We are not sex crazed maniacs. So when you see me in the washroom, shut the fuck up. I'm trying to take a piss, not see up your skirt. Contrary to popular belief, we are human fucking beings.
Everyone wants to try me out for just a little but. But what's so hard about taking me home to mom and dad. Good enough for your bed, but not the dinner table. I am not your dirty little secret. You fellows would be surprised at how many of your friends take a pass at me when you're not around. So what's so difficult about keeping that "faggot" to yourself?
A cartoon from 1942I found again sth. interesting, it´s a cartoon made in 1942 during the 2. world war, I didn´t know that such cartoons were able to be produced here at that time. 5 Ways to Avoid Being DiminishedThere's a discussion brewing in comics about artists being more diminished as of late--that readers, reviewers, and publishers are focusing too much on writers rather than the artists who draw the book. I agree it's happening, but I'm not sure it's worth sounding an alarm over. I never felt diminished, but maybe I'm part of the exception. Maybe it's because I'm an artist and a writer.5 Ways to Avoid Being Diminished7 months ago in Personal More Like This
Either way, I do have a few thoughts on what artists can do to pull themselves out from under the rug.
1. DON'T DRAW LIKE A COG.
If you conform to a "house style", then you're at higher risk of being treated like an interchangeable cog in the comics machine. Yes, you're more likely to get consistent work, but you won't stand out as much. Therefor you'll be sought after less by big name writers, you're less likely to make a lasting impression on reviewers and readers, and you'll have a harder time getting raises (12 others draw like you and for less money).
I also suggests inking yourself if it helps. Penc

you go here, you see this video... and you ask yourselves, do you want it hard enough.
this man is a storyteller at heart. his cmic is an intense one, really cool and i recommend it it is available for preorder, a voice in the dark. it is out in november. i don't usually promote stuf, rarely even my own, but i want to promote this because this man deserves it!
so stop looking for excuses, stop trying to find reasons why it cant be done, start working on ways to get it done.
you have one life... if you want to be a storyteller , be it! be a

TELL EVERYONE ON YOUR LIST BECAUSE IF SOMEBODY ON YOUR LIST ADDS HIM THEN YOU WILL GET HIM ON YOUR LIST. HE WILL FIGURE OUT YOUR ID COMPUTER ADDRESS, SO COPY AND PASTE THIS MESSAGE TO EVERYONE EVEN IF YOU DON'T CARE FOR THEM AND FAST BECAUSE IF HE HACKS THEIR EMAIL HE HACKS YOUR MAIL TOO (I think what it means by that is that he could assume the identity of your friends, and FOOL you into opening the letter since you think it's your friend that's sending it )!!...

Everyone that donated to the Kickstarter, thanks for being patient. We hit a few delays due to the loss of our dog, Red, and my broken collar bone/shoulder which delayed The Wake. But me, my wife, and my students are almost done making the final touches, and we hope to have digital and hardcover editions available soon.
I'm thrilled to say that 3 out of 5 of my students have landed work with major publishers--two with Marvel and one with Boom! Studios...and Cafe Racer isn't even out yet. I'd love to think that the Apprenticeship had a hand in their success, but the truth is that each artist got work based on the caliber of the talent they possessed long before I got my hands on them. I did what I could for them on my end, which included sharing all my editorial contacts, vouching for their professionalism with publishers, and advising with contracts where I could. When Cafe Racer is published, I plan on handing out copies to every editor I can while

average pay rates for comic book artists:"Generally, the good graphic novels fetch $100 - $300 per page, although professionals who have been in the industry for a long time can command as much as three times that amount. In fact, one elite illustrator commanded as much as $1,000 a page (on a 22-page comic book)! Most of the popular titles that artists, like David Cassaday, work on are monthly issues, which end up providing him with a six-figure salary. The back-end royalties on merchandise, trade paperbacks and movie royalties are also generous."average pay rates for comic book artists:1 year ago in Personal More Like This
"In 2008, Sean Jordan, founder of Army Ant Publishing, claimed established freelance comic book artists were paid anywhere from $220 to $4,400 per book project, which breaks down to $10 to $200 per page. Pencil and inker artists can ask for $75 to $200 a page. Colorists often fall in the range of $35 to $125, and writers and letterers make $10 to $50 a page. *** This journal is for LISTED GUEST ARTISTS ONLY***
Theme: Fairy Tales
This theme will be divided into two subcategories; dark and light.
For this art book, we would like images depicting Fairy Tales.
Each artist will be able to choose on Fairy Tale each. They can choose whether they will follow the original story or whether they want to illustrate a different interpretation of the story (example; Disney's interpretation).
However, if you do choose to illustrate Disney's interpretation of the story you CAN NOT draw a fan art of the character. We want you to create an original work based off of the story and NOT the character. If you were being told the story I'm sure the character wouldn't look exactly like how Disney advertised them.
Light could be the original (if it was a positive, light-hearted story) or you coul
