Time to Move on... Hey all
How you guys doing?
I'm leaving the MLP stuff.
Basically, the point of this journal (I'll try not to make it too long.) is that I'm getting ready to move on from the whole My Little Pony scene.
It's been fun, guys, but let's face it, I was only going to keep it up for so long.
As you have probably noticed, despite (attempting) to make comics for the last few months, I've pretty much fallen out of the whole MLP fandom scene.
Unlike when I first joined, back in 2011, where I'd be scouring the various websites for the latest news and re-watching the weekly episodes, I'm just not pushed to do so anymore. I never got around to finishing Season 3, or watching that movie thing, and I've pretty much ignored the whole thing.
Don't get me wrong, I don't HATE the show, nor do I HATE the fandom, I still really enjoy it, and I really do hope I'll watch the last of S3.
It's just I've certainly

THANK YOU!!!The Season 1 finale of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has finally aired.THANK YOU!!!4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the absolutely amazing, incredible, astounding crew of MLP:FiM for all their hard work and dedication. Im so grateful to have such a talented group of artists give their all for what could have easily been seen from day one as silly, girly fluff unworthy of their time. Together I think we helped prove that for girls does not have to automatically equal lame.
And a gigantic thank you to the fans of the show!!! The kids, the parents and all you bronies!! The array of people this show has touched has completely exceeded my wildest expectations! I cannot believe the response, and, as Im sure youve noticed, I cannot keep up with the messages!!! Thank you all for your words of praise, thanks, curiosity, and even your thoughtful criticisms. Fr

Alllllllrighty everyone! Time for a story! But first a story to preface the story.
Many moons ago, whilst browsing the blog section of a website I was a journalist for, I had stumbled upon an entree from a internet acquaintance regarding his copy of Halo 4, and how Amazon (or competing company--I don't remember who he had bought it through) had yet to deliver it to him. One or two weeks after the initial launch of the game, he was understandably quite frustrated with the company. Where was his copy? Why hadn't they delivered it yet? Why was Master Chief left to float around the galaxy in the butt piece of Forward Unto Dawn? These answers and more were left dangling in a passing breeze due to the lack of coordination of one company. Being a Halo connoisseur myself, I understood his pain. I am a pretty big fan of the series (I somehow even managed to get an unprovoked happy birthday from Halo's multiplayer announcer o

And I heard someone say, "Robert Downey Jr is best Princess."
I thought to myself, "man, I'm trying to establish a connection here, I feel it."
I asked the guy, "Where did you get that joke? Did you get it from a comic, perhaps?"
He answered, "Yeah, it was a comic by RedApropos" (except he pronounced it wrong)
And I'm like "DUDE, I AM REDAPROPOS! IT'S ME!"
And he was like "DUDE NO WAY!!"
And we had the most epic brohoof EVER!!!

Hope you guys had a wonderful 2014! I certainly did. There were a lot of changes and other great things. For me, the best thing of 2014 was going to college. Words can't describe how much I enjoyed it and I truly do feel one step closer to my dream which is just the best feeling in the world. I'm really excited to see where this takes me and I'll definitely keep you guys updated!
Other than what was happening in real life, plenty things were happening right here as well with you guys! We've reached 2,625,520 pageviews in 2014 meaning we had only around 30,000 at the beginning of the year, and there are now 12,350 0f you guys watching me! Like damn guys! That's pretty great and way more than I could ask for. I had around 1,000 of you guys watching me by New Years 2014. The FiMFiction group has 73 stories in it and 652 members. Absolutely INSANE! The CatToday, my cat "Blacky" passed away. The Cat8 months ago in Personal More Like This
This cat was no ordinary cat, and he was certainly more than just a pet.
Blacky was a black cat. He was born in 1991, and died today; Thursday, August 7th, 2014. Twenty-three human years of age.
Being born two years before I was, he was a part of my life since my very first day. He's literally been with me for my entire life.
We grew up together. We played and fought, as though we were brothers. You know what? We WERE brothers. I knew that cat better than anybody else, and that cat knew me just as well.
He loved to play, and he loved to hunt. He was a very active cat, spending much of his time outdoors. On the other hand, he spent almost as much time chilling out and being lazy. That cat sure knew how to relax!
We spent a lot of time together, and we loved eachother dearly.
But alas, the time would eventually come when we would have to say goodbye to eachother...
This morning, I took a stroll down the street, to a local coffee shop. I was there fo
Peace Out!Well, I'm off to college tomorrow! Yaaaaaaay! I'm really excited However, I am kinda sad that I'm not gonna be as active on here for quite some time. I won't have Paint Tool Sai anymore since I have a new Mac. Well, I do have Sai, but there's not pen pressure which defeats the whole purpose of Sai for me haha. So, I won't be uploading digital stuff until I get some Adobe and animation programs from school. Might upload some traditional stuff but we'll see. I'll definitely keep in contact with you guys and reply to comments the best I canPeace Out!7 months ago in Personal More Like This

It's exciting to finally be going to college aghajskdoshsjsk! It was sad saying bye to all my friends though. And I'll miss Hawaii along with all of my family members who love here. But I'm going back to California, where I lived f

Yesterday was a fantastic birthday filled with more wishes and art than I could have ever hoped for! Thank you EVERYBODY for taking the time out of your day to wish me well on DA, Twitter, Tumblr, and IRL! I feel tremendously thankful and blessed to count you all as friends. I wouldn't be here, doing this pony thing, without you all to accompany along the way.
It's the community and the joy of experiencing it all together that makes a fandom worthwhile. And I'm honored to be a part of this one!
Thank you all so much! You have ALL my love and appreciation!

Positive Ponies PSAIt seems like lately, SJWs have really tried to take MLP characters, icons of positive ideals, and turn them into mouth-pieces for hateful words and ideas, twisting them to their political agenda. They’ll take Rarity and make her out to be a man-hating “feminist” or portray Fluttershy as thinking boys are inherently gross.Positive Ponies PSA11 months ago in Personal Journal More Like This
To me, this is an an utter corruption for the ideals of MLP. No matter what your stances are on various issues in the MLP fandom, taking the characters and put words of hate and anger and general negativity is a unwholesome treatment of the characters.
Ponies taught me how to be happier as a human. How to be look at life in a more positive way. And that’s how I see them—and I’m not the only one. I want others to remind others of this.
As such, I’m making a call out to everyone. If you’re confident enough to post your art on the internet, then I implore you to make a positive pony image. Take your favorite pony, and draw
One Year of PonyBest year of my life. One Year of Pony2 years ago in Personal More Like This
First of all, thank you so much everyone for the birthday wishes! It means a whole lot to me. I've been meaning to write this for a few days, but I had a lot more to say too.
A little over one year ago, out of a mixture of boredom and curiousity, I watched a few episodes of this colorful pony show. Shortly afterwards I did something very out-of-character and something that was very rare in my life until that point - I picked up a pencil and tried to draw. And then I shared these scribbles on Ponychan, and at some time, someone said something along the lines of, "Good work, keep it up!", which I'd never even dreamt of hearing before. And so after searching for years, I finally found a reason to draw. And everyday I still look forward to seeing these wonderful people that I met way back then.
Hundreds of paintings later (and thousands of ponies ), I look back on this year and see all the wonderful friends I've made here and have yet to make, people who I truly ca

Sooo... I absolutely LOVELOVELOVED the premier!
Discord was wonderful. John de Lancie is so hilariously charming, I'm glad they're bringing his character back as the lovable trickster archetype. Basically, he's Q again and I am loving it.
Twilight with her wobbly wings? Adorable. It's good to see that miss smarty-smart hooves has trouble learning something new, but luckily she has Rainbow Dash as her flying coach. She'll be zipping around in no time.
I like that she is having to adjust to her new role as Princess--she's nervous, but ready. While she may be an alicorn and a princess now, she still feels like the Twilight she always was. When her friends, with the best intentions, treat her differently? She feels awkward.
Twilight's transformation added something new to the dynamic of their friendship--at first they all seem a bit confused a

These resources are relevant for both digital and traditional mediums as well as technique and philosophy.

Even if you don't draw people, I still recommend this book... as it teaches "blocking-in"/gestures. Copy the drawings/sketches from the book to help yourself build good habits.

“WHAAAT?!” I hear some cry. “You can’t mess with a classic!”
To them I ask: Have you watched the original recently?
Unlike, say, Ghostbusters (1984), the original Robocop has not aged well, mostly because it was a satire and satirical comedy/comedy based on popular culture tends to date very quickly.
Also, because of the limitations of special effects at the time: Peter Weller now looks decidedly goofy clomping around “future” Detroit in that clunky costume. I’ve no idea how restrictive it was, but I’ve a sneaking suspicion that he took the Anthony Daniels approach to playing a robot and made a point of moving like the Tin Man in a monsoon.
The reboot has ditched the satirical slant of the original and become a character-based drama. Those hoping for a repeat of the ‘87

So good news! I've been confirmed for a vendor for both TrotCon and BronyCon! So you guys who are going will definitely see me there and I can't wait meet you all again. It's going to be a great summer, and I'm really excited.
Moving on the bad news, (This is extremely heavy, and I apologize for bringing it up here but you guys, as my friends and fans should know, if you like,) tonight I had a loss in the family.
My dad died as a result of severe cancer, it was a long, and grueling fight, but tonight was the end. We've been fighting this since mid November, but there was never any hope. It was too strong, and all we could do was see that he was comfortable in his final days. Which he was, he went peacefully, after all that fighting and struggling.
So this has been the main reason I've been less active over all for it seems like a while

Thinking back, I seem to have misplaced Tuesday. I have no clear memory of what I was doing. I'm guessing: work of some nature.
Must have got a little too caught up in my day-to-day routine and just flown on auto-pilot for a while.
That may be a bad thing......

I accept the spirit of power and of love and of a sound mind
I REJECT the spirit of condemnation that binds me in chains
I accept the spirit of freedom and forgiveness that breaks the binds on my soul
I am not a failure, I am not worthless, I am not weak
I reject the lies and burdens falsely laid upon me
I know where my refuge lies, my shield and rampart;
And no terror, arrow, plague or pestilence;
No lion or cobra, great lion or serpent
Death, Despair, Wrath or Curse shall touch me when I call out to him whom I trust!
I yawn and new life enters
My spirit is ignited again, it burns at the hollow of my hurt
My freedom is restored, the bonds on me are broken and the burden replaced with a sword
Terror will fear me and Grief shall mourn my presence
Hatred will despise me and Confusion will be left without a clue
I hold to the truth that they are vanquished through him who gives me strength
I enter a new day (12:01 am) restored, at peace and ready to kick ass!

'Why Pony Fanart?'It was an innocent enough question.'Why Pony Fanart?'1 month ago in Personal More Like This
I'm lucky to work in an environment of people who are their own sort of nerd about something. We have an in-office D&D campaign going, a league of Pokemon collectors, a bastion of Trekkies (who really had a difficult week, bless their souls)...and of course we've got a few Bronies in the stable too. I'm among pretty good company. And while the question "why all the ponies?" wasn't asked in any manner of hostility, I've seen message boards ignite this inquiry not with curiosity but frustrated rage.
I've got my own reasons. The character designs are easy to draw. They're bright with bold colors allowing me to flex my palette more. They're just so darned expressive. There's a massive talent pool of artists whom I can collaborate with if I'm not doing a pony image of my own. But one of the biggest reasons, and this is important for somebody who makes a part of their living freelancing alongside other independent entities (that's you wonderful folks)

The 'Method'I'm often asked if I use a projector, a printed canvas or grid for my paintings. The 'Method'2 years ago in Personal More Like This
To be blunt, the answer is simple 'no'.
I do use several vertical & horizontal lines as the guide to put the object in the right position
only when the canvas is big(over 1m high).
The reason I don't use those technical methods is simple;
I'm an old-fashioned man!
I consider myself more of an old craftsman than an artist in modern-day concept.
For me, practicing and perfecting my craft is as important as creating a good piece of art.
Some people say the process doesn't matter as long as you have a good outcome, but I don't believe that.
I don't feel completely happy with the outcome even though it looks near-perfect if I don't feel that my hard work is involved.
I may work much faster and easier if I use a projector or a printed canvas,
but I'd rather train myself harder and harder to be a more skilled and versatile painter.
After all, you won't need to spend that much money on buying a projector and print
