It was amazing how a lie printed in one the government sanctioned papers could turn it in to truth. Of course, he had seen it all before. This was how it would start. The government would reassure the world that all was well, while publicly denying all things mutant.

Ororos first impression of Wade Wilson was good. He was cute and funny, and the positive effect he had on Logans peace of mind was only slightly less obvious than the nose on her face.
Then again, the first time she met Wade Wilson, she had about five minutes before students would start pouring into the study for college-level world history, and all Wade had the time to do before she asked him to wait in the hall was smile, wave, and say, Sup, Cocoa Pebbles? (immediately followed by Logan putting a hand over Wades mouth).
Logan warned her about their shared para-military past, and about Wades shaky grasp on concepts like nonviolence, sharing, and consequences. Treat him like a four-year-old who never shuts up and always manages to get his paws on sharp, dangerous objects, Logan had said. It was late October and winter was setting in. I had been working for Systems Engineering for several years and I thought I was safe from any layoffs or reductions in force. But I soon would be proved wrong.
My wife was at the super market in our medium size mid-western town. She ran into a friend of hers, who at first she did not recognize, due to serious weight gain.
"Alice, it is good to see you again, I'm sorry I did not recognize you at first." Said Joy, somewhat embarrassed.
Alice smiled and patted her round belly, bulging up against her plumper, but still modest boobs. "It is okay, Joy, I know I have gained a lot of weight the past few months."
Joy replied, "Uh, I kind of noticed you look different, but, uh, why.." Alice piped up, "Why have I go

Aerith awoke to the smell of breakfast being cooked. Stumbling through her morning routine, the last Cetra moved robotically until she finally managed to wake herself up enough to greet the rest of the world.
Her first surprise of the day as she left her bedroom, however, was to see her step-mother coming out of her own room. Elmyra, too, seemed to be surprised to see Aerith. For a minute, the two Gainsborough women stared at each other with questioning looks, confused as to who would be cooking the morning meal.
Suddenly, the young Cetra remembered the strange woman from yesterday- Grace Lunaria, also known as Katlyn Lune. Quickly walking towards the kitchen with Elmyra close behind, the two paused when they suddenly heard music. It was very dramatic-sounding, uplifting yet with a sad tone. As suddenly the music quieted, Aerith and her step-mother peeked into the kitchen.

2015, New York - At the Avengers Tower after the party
Sounds were slowly returning. Screams and gunshots echoed in your head, but it wasn't until strong arms closed around you, that you realized you were under attack.
'[Name]!' Steve cried out, soflty shaking you awake while he was looking around him to see if any of the three robots Ultron sent at you were coming his way. 'Are you alright?'
You groaned softly, feeling a sharp pain burn in your side. Steve pulled you from the floor and you stumbled with him to safety. Chaos had erupted in the living room. Tony was thrown onto the platform above the living room, while Bruce and Natasha hid behind the bar as a grenade went off. Maria and Cho were nowhere to be found, but you could see Rhodes flying through the room, getting knocked through the glass floor and onto the lower level of the tower.
'Stay here,' Steve ordered you, letting go of you and running towards one of the robots, jumping on its back.
The pain in your side was s

“I’m not paid enough for this.” you grumble as the sirens start wailing in the Tower.
“We’re Avengers, (y/n), we always get the crappiest jobs. Although, I think I might convince Fury to give us some dough...”
You hold up one hand before he goes off on one of his tangents. “Correction: the rest of you are Avengers. I’m only here to man the cockpit and fly you guys everywhere when Maria isn’t here.”
“And where would we be without a handy little drop off?”
“You certainly know how to flatter an agent, Stark,” you smirk, running to the air pad to fire up the hovercraft engines.
It’s only minutes after the whole team assembles in the aircraft that it begins.

Hefty ChangesAs Edward walked into the crowded student union, he saw that several of his friends had already gathered around one of the vacant tables and were chatting away with each other. When they noticed that Ed had arrived, they happily waved for him to come over and have a seat. "Ed, over here!" Clutching his rather full tray of food, Edward made his way over to the table. Once he got there he frowned. There was barely any room for him to sit. Grabbing a chair from an empty table, he did his best to squeeze into the small space he was given, just barely fitting. "Guys, I think we need to find another table." Ed groaned, barely able to move between two of his rather agitated friends. One of them laughed lightly. "The rest of us seem to fit just fine, maybe you just need to watch the calories, big guy." The rest of the table broke into a fit of laughter at the comment.Hefty Changes5 years ago in Short Stories More Like This

"Wouldn't it hurt you to be seen with someone like myself?" Northstar asked, coolly, an arrogant smirk rising on his face.
"Of course it wouldn't!" Bobby said, blushing, then realizing Northstar was being his cold… cruel… self. "I mean, you know, as a last resort."
"I see…" Northstar said, biting his lip and looking up as if in deep thought. He took in a sharp breath and then smirked. "Very well, Robert," he said, "I could use a good stretch of the legs and some juvenile action movie that you men find so bracing."
"I… uh…" Bobby said, "yeah, action… movie… uh-huh."

2015, America - At Clint's house
Slowly the world around you turned to normal and you were back in Wakanda. Your body was shaking and your rapid breathing made it difficult for you to stop. You were kneeling next to Steve, who also seemed to regain consciousness again. Dried up tears stuck to your cheeks and a hollow feeling spread through your stomach. Did Wanda show you your worst fear or did she show you the future? You could only wonder.
You watched Steve push himself from the ground. His eyes locked with yours and your pain was reflected in his deep blue orbs.
'Are you alright?' he asked, clearing his throat.
You wiped the tears from your face and nodded. 'You?'
'I'm fine,' Steve replied stoically. ‘We need to get out of here.’
You nodded, letting him help you get off the floor. You quickly made your way outside, where Clint was already waiting for you, holding a shocked Natasha in his arms. Thor was standing next to them, seemingly pondering on what had j

2014, New York - Months after the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D. and after your first mission with the Avengers
'So, Romanoff, tell me,' Tony started, taking a sip of his glass of whiskey. 'Do you have one?'
You looked around the room, seeing all the Avengers sitting in a circle in Tony's living room. A smile curled Clint's lips as he shook his head and drank from his beer. He clearly already knew the answer to that question.
You had never thought you'd be here, among the heroes of New York. You were a good S.H.I.E.L.D agent (before the fall), but you never thought Fury would contact you to assist them in their hunt for the remaining HYDRA agents. It was exciting, to say the least.
You had been doing some spionage work for the old director to help him locate secret HYDRA bases, but today - attacking that base - was the first real mission you had had in months. It had been a long, long day and you would have gone immediately to bed, if the Avengers hadn't insisted you'd share a drink with

I'm sorry you cared.
I don't know why I did it,
I think I was just so scared.
I didn't know what else to do,
and I definately didn't want to worry you;
So I hid from your sight,
behind a mask filled with smiles and delight.
But when I was most vulnerable,
and my mask began to fade;
You saw what I had been doing
much to your dismay.
Your voice, both gentle and soft
with that look of gloom
made me start to swoon.
I didn't realise it would effect you so great
but you still held me straight.
I had to turn around and go away.
I couldn't handle this tragic story.
But before I left, I heard you say,
"I love you more and more each day"
Once again I broke down
and left him there all alone.
I needed to think
and when I did,
I rushed back to where it all began,
only to realise he was gone
and I was to travel along this path alone.
It was all my fault;
I couldn't believe it.
And now I lost my one true soul.

You watch the whole scene unfold into chaos a safe fifty feet up, peering from binoculars.
Loud shouts of alarm fill the air as the Avengers touch down on the snow. Some of the bolder HYDRA agents chase after them, whilst already a dozen others lie defeated on the ground or are disappearing into the trees.
“Shit!” you hear Tony cry out. Apparently his tactic to crash into the HYDRA base failed - not at all surprising.
“Language!” Steve replies, “JARVIS, what’s the view from upstairs?”
“Oh, so I’m just the co-pilot, huh?” You feign hurtfulness, but the end of the question catches in your throat. You clear it to continue. “Go ahead, J.”
As JARVIS rattles off the data - amidst two assassins’ snark that the mission’s taking too long - you spot Steve

You made a fool of yourself that day. There was no doubt in your mind that told you otherwise. Yet you still managed to make Peter laugh, though you were assuming it was because he was feeling uncomfortable when you began to accuse him of stalking you.
Well, it turned out that you two had been attending the same schools since middle school. Who would have thought, eh? Throughout the rest of that class, you had completely dismissed the classwork you two were supposed to complete to try to gather up all the thoughts from middle school to at least figure out if what he said was true.
You had looked over at him when from the corner of your eye you could see he was trying to hide the uncomfortable look on his face. The look of complete concentration vanished from your face as you turned to him.
“What’s with the look?” you demanded.
He looked back at you and it looked like he was trying his hardest not to seem rude. “It’s just that… Do you need to g

Prologue (2 months ago)
It was three months after the attack on S.H.I.E.L.D., when all their files and information had been dumped onto the net, and Hydra had been revealed. It had been three months since S.H.I.E.L.D. had been destroyed, Fury had been killed, and his trusted agents had scattered.
People were starting to recover from the attack, spending more time outside, starting to restore the damaged buildings, and putting back together the pieces of their lives.
You walked quickly through the park, keeping your head high, trying to enjoy the nice weather. Other people walked by, deep in conversation or enjoying the hot spring day. It was uncharacteristically warm, which made your hoodie stand out a little, but people had seen strange enough things in the past months that no one gave you a second glance.
Your hands were stuffed deep in your pockets, and you fidgeted with a tissue that had been stuffed in there. You struggled to keep your eyes from darting around, instead forcing you

It's been a hard day's night, my love.
Tonight, I want to hold your hand and draw you close to me.
Love, love me do, for though tired, I feel fine.
And here's a rose, from me to you, dear one.
At times I've doubted your love, but all my friends keep
telling me: "She loves you man, it's evident in the way
she looks at you." Yet, like some delusional day tripper, I
sometimes feel as though I should just let it be and
go my way. Oh, I've tried to woo you with gifts to express my love.
In the end, I've learned a simple truth: I can't buy me love.
No, I could work eight days a week and still never give to
you what you truly deserve; the best of everything!
There have been times when I've felt I should quit this mundane
job, maybe become a paperback writer. But then, no, or
perhaps make a living by the sea, sailing to the ocean depths in a
