EDIT: entering this into the fan art category of the 3Differences contest
It's BMO! In 3D!
Made in Maya 2013, comped in photoshop.
I've been tinkering with this idea for probably about a year now and never really got the renders to look quite right. At first I went for a 'realistic' style and tried to make her look like a real gameboy, but that required textures which i wasnt that comfortable with at the time (i know a lot more about it now). I reopened the file recently and went with a completely different style. It's really easy too! I put a surface shader on everything to get the colours and then made another render layer and rendered out an ambient occlusion. I had it set up with two big area lights before that were casting nice soft shadows, but it started to take longer and longer to render just test shots. Doing it this way with the AO just works better for me. I'm sure theres probably a way I could render both the colour and the AO at the same time, but I find it much easier to get my head around rendering out two seperate images and sticking them together in photoshop. I also put a gradient over the top for a little hipstery instagram look.
Let me know what you think and if you think I should make something else in 3D!
The Tower, named after the card in the major arcana of Tarot... it is the biggest creature among the machines, it's industrial body towers above buildings. It is said it once had a mind, but slowly it's own hunger drove it insane. Eternally hungry it devours almost everything in sight, whether it be metal stone or plant/animal matter. It must continually eat to fuel itself... it has even been known to eat it's fellow machines.
To give you an idea of how huge it really is... A city bus is = to the length of his head from top to chin (while mouth is open) A human being is almost, not quite, the size of one of his teeth 9 and his friends are about as tall as a human head.. but not quite.
My inspiration for this piece was to meld a still from the reveal trailer of the Tomb Raider reboot with the very intense art of the bloodied Croft on Game Informer's cover. Lara is the first female character feature on SeeBonnyDraw. I dunno what took so long to draw a woman for my webseries, but better late than never and Lara is the perfect candidate to lead the way for future awesome ladies (be on the look out for Daenerys from Game of Thronesand Elizabeth from Bioshock soon!)
Anyway, I doubt I'll win, nor am I really looking forward to. There are too many other fantastic pieces that deserve such an honor. Best of luck to everyone, and I hope everyone's looking forward to playing Tomb Raider as I am!

This piece of work was inspired by my Mexican culture. The picture shows La Virgen de Guadalupe along many other saints that are respected dearly by my community and it also shows La Santisima Muerte on both sides but it's known that La Santisima Muerte has nothing "saint" about it and it's been known to be used by witches and bad curanderas to do evil or harm on other people. Some people believe La Santisima Muerte symbolizes good but most people pray to it for evil or for wrong doings. The girl in the middle is meant to symbolize what is known to be an new age, evil curandera satanica (satanic faith healer) which in fact some curanderas are known for ritualistic sacrifices and the eating of raw animal flesh or organs and the consumption of its blood.
