I was going to write about my major writer's block (which is a shame because I was going to do a writing blitz and it fizzled!), or perhaps how modern American Conservatism and Superheros do not mix...but this pisses me off.
How sexist is that bullshit! It's slamming doors in the faces of women. Women who are already treated like shit way too much by the comics subculture. Not to mention these guys are making light of RAPE. That pisses me off as well; as high profile rape cases here in the States had the communities trying to heap the blame on the VICTIM.
These guys callously use rape and disregard the ramifications. Not to mention they just "mansplained" comics to women. As a man, and as a guy who wants to work in comics, these "Legends" disgust me! We got many more women writers coming in after women like Gail Simone broke down the barriers, and these "Our Gang"-esque aholes
Why It Sucks To Be a Cosplayer on HalloweenArt By :iconraggedy-annedroid:Why It Sucks To Be a Cosplayer on Halloween2 years ago in Personal More Like This
So it is Halloween. I am a cosplayer. Here it is, the greatest of all dress up holidays! And I am always disappointed. Here are the top 5 reasons it sucks to be a cosplayer at Halloween.
1) Friends (including friends of friends) come out of nowhere to ask for costumes. They just ask for a little help. On their giant full body armor masterpiece. The week before Halloween. Because you know, you make costumes and it's easy for you. And the price? Well, it's "for a friend" price. Which is always "free" or "I'll pay you $20 never" which boils down to "get you a shot of Jack sometime." Sadface.
2) Costumes in my closet everywhere, but none for Halloween. Yes, I have over 60 costumes. No, none of them will ever be recognized at a Halloween party. One year I dressed as Pris from Blade Runner out on the town, which I thought would b
Cosplay: we've lost the meaning behind it.Most cosplayers on Facebook may have come across some drama that unfolded on a 'cosplay page', but for those who haven't I'll show you.Cosplay: we've lost the meaning behind it.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
This picture was posted up, and has since been deleted off their page due to the massive backlash. I can't even begin to comprehend what made them post it up. And I can't tell if the picture is pointing at overweight people, westerners, or both. Either way it's sickening.
Time and time again I see this bullshit. Even searching up cosplays on google, you see images of cosplayers being ridiculed for a 'bad choice'. Yes, I've said many times that one should choose their costumes wisely, but that should NEVER limit someone. I think we all have to remember why we cosplay- why we're all part of this subculture.

Give 'em Hell BoysDespite being shot down by an enormous majority of people and petitions, once again government officials are attempting to pass SOPA. More specifically, a section of the bill that focuses on copyright. The language used in the bill is very loose, and in the end could end up dramatically hampering the way you enjoy the internet today. If this bill were to be passed, content creators who are "guilty" of copyright infringement (ie Lets Players, commissioners, authors, etc) would be charged as felons if they do not immediately cease production and remove all traces of their past work. Please help show these government officials that they in no way shape or form can force this down our throats by signing this petition:Give 'em Hell Boys2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Please pass this on to anyone you can. It may not seem like they're taking away a drastic amount of freedom with this bill, but over time, the small things add up. Please don't let this be the beginning of the

What: Minky is a polyester, microfiber fabric that is extremely soft. It is often used in baby blankets and quilts, but also seems to be the fabric of choice for many plushie makers.
(Please keep an eye out for more helpful journals centered around plushie making! More will be made in the future!)
These tools can help make your experience working with minky much easier...
Rotary Cutter: http://www.beverlys.com/olfa-rotary-cutter-28mm.html You can use this to cut the minky directly around your pattern pieces on a flat surface, instead of trying to pin the pattern and hold up the fabric while cutting with scissors. The smaller the blade size, the better, because they go around tight curves easier.
Walking Foot: These sewing machine accessories are very useful. When sewing, because minky is slippery, the fabric may slide around a bit and get off track, making your plushie (or whatever you're making) not as accu

I really need to get this of my chestI don't want to cause a drama and no hate to other dollowners, but I just need to write this off me.I really need to get this of my chest8 months ago in Personal More Like This
Yesterday I got a PM from a girl. She was really mad at me, because she told me that Candy was a Rip off/copy of some other doll. This is now the 4 time that it has happend. Also at a convention a went to, a girl told me.. ohh look.. it's a ***** copy.
Candy is 'probably' a rip off of 3 other dolls. I won't call the names, because I won't cause any drama and i'm not mad. I also wanted to clear Candies name like, he is almost 6 years old and always looked like this.. but then I'm afraid that people will find me arrogant. And then i'm accusing someone else of copying my doll and that is something I won't do. Ofcourse you get imspired by other people. Everybody does and then you want to make something that kinda looks like that. So do I. That is human nature, and again i'm not mad, but now people are getting mad at me and accusing me for things I didn't do. I made Candy 6 years ago an

Posing! Tips ~I did these instructions 2 years ago, but I still think they're kind of good I hope you like!Posing! Tips ~10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Posing is crucial for getting an awesome cosplay photo! You should be aware of the basics before you go on a photoshoot. At a convention people are going to want to take pictures of and with you, practice your posing and you'll like the pictures that pop up on facebook afterwards!
Note where there is a source of light, and capture it with your face.
Don’t just stand there! Twist your body a bit and it will come to live in pictures! If you just stand there your hips will look wider than if you twist your body! :3
Beware of your limbs when posing. An arm that’s just hanging there can easily look like a deadweight.
On the subject of arms it’s important to notice how awkward the “hands behind your back”-pose can look. It’s always difficult to know what to do with your arms and hands. If you have a prop it will come more natural (or if your character has a sig

I what to thank everyone who is making this group happen. I greatly appreciate all the art that you have made available to us here on dA, and allowed this group to add to our galleries. I also appreciate those of you who show love to the artists w/ your comments and faves.
And for the purpose of showing some love to the artists.. I would like to invite the members, and even the watchers, of this group to "play a game" w/ us.
When you see a deviation, that is on display in this group, which deeply touches you.. I request that you send us a private note, using the Send a Note button on the home page of this group. Tell us the deviation that you like and why you like it. We will place your selections in a weekly feature. I hope we will receive at least four (4) such notes every week. And I hope we will all come to think of t
JUUHANNA'S ART-RAFFLE! [WINNERS]Hello everybody, and welcome to my art-raffle journal!JUUHANNA'S ART-RAFFLE! [WINNERS]2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've been thinking of different kinds of community-activities I could create or participate in, and this seems like it could be fun n easy.
In order to participate in the raffle, you have to do two things:
1. Add this journal to your favorites (so that you will have a number).
2. Leave a comment with a link to the character (or few alternative charas for me to choose from) you'd like me to draw if you're a lucky winner!
So fav+comment, and you're in!
The way it works is as follows:
Once the contest ends, I will use random number generator to get a number, and the person who has that number in the faves list will be the winner!
I will be making a colored portrait (shoulders up) for the winner!
As a bonus I will also generate a runner-up number, and the runner-up will get a port
Preparing for NaNoWriMo Part 1We may only be one week into October, but November and NaNoWriMo is just around the corner. If you've never heard of it, NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month. That means in the span of thirty days, participants will write 50,000 words.Preparing for NaNoWriMo Part 12 years ago in Literature Features More Like This
1,667 words per day if they're writing every day.
2,273 words per day if they're only writing on weekdays.
6,250 words per day if they're only writing on weekends.
Either way it's a pretty hefty feat, and not something to walk into unprepared. Even if you're a "by the seat of your pants" type of writer.
So this year, instead of doing a basic what is NaNo and who's going to participate in it journal, we're gonna switch it up and give you some pointers on what you should be doing and what you definitely shouldn't be doing before and during NaNo.
The best place to get advice is from the people that have tried NaNo. Notice how I didn't say "and succeeded?" T

Howl’s Moving Castle 1
Howl’s Moving Castle is best known as the 2004 animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
While it is as beautifully animated as all of Studio Ghibli's other films this was one of the few times Miyazaki based a film on an existing work. The film is an adaptation of British author Diana Wynne Jones’ 1986 young-adult novel by the same name and the first book in th

First introduced by Marvel in 1963, The Avengers was Jack Kirby and Stan Lee’s superheroic response to the success of DC Comics’ Justice League of America.
In the original comic the founders of the superhero team were Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Ant–Man, and The Wasp who came together to defeat the evil god Loki. The 2012 live–action Avengers movie loosely based on Marvel
