He seemed to stare at you...without eyes. He stood directly in front of you, no more than five feet, now. He stood tall and erect at first, but bent his knees to become eye-level to you.
"Wh-What the hell a-" he placed his bony, pale hand over your mouth. You couldn't move. You were paralyzed by pain and fear. And this thing seemed pleased by that. Where his mouth should be, it began to rip, and seep a fluid...a fluid much like tar. it dripped to the ground, melting through the grass and plants. It looked worse that anything you had ever seen. It was grotesque and disgusting; resembling tearing flesh with oozing black, infected blood, his mouth approached your body...Was he..smelling you?
He didn't seem to want to hurt you...but he seemed more and more familiar to you. This thing...was he what killed the children...
"You were the man in the street!" You exclaimed through the hand that muffled your voice. He was. This was him. But what what this monster you had labeled "hi
Small TalkJohn watched her take to the sky with grace and effortlessness that made her seem so powerful. He was pretty sure there was more going on in that woman's mind that she really doesn't want anyone to know, including him. Especially him. He always thought he knew what was best for other people. Apparently so did Mari. She seemed content to dump him, mentioning something about seeing it through like a book.Small Talk3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
It had been enough of a roller coaster ride just dealing with the Thanagarian Invasion, her return, meeting their future son, and wrapping his mind around them being reincarnated from a time long forgotten. He was actually feeling a little bit of peace at the moment and too much introspection just might make him go a little unbalanced again. He didn't want that to happen again. That's what caused him to have problems with her and Mari in the first place.

Bounding off of the train that had carried him into the cold, dark world of the first person shooter, Felix could not help but smile as he caught sight of his wife’s disapproving glare. Although under normal circumstances he would have complied with her standing order and have waited for her at the entrance to her game, safe from the dangers that crawled within Hero’s Duty, today he just could not help himself. Excitement overriding his common sense and deep-rooted fear of the bugs, he had hopped on the train without a second thought, his mind solely fixed upon the woman he knew would be waiting for him.
How often did one get to celebrate an entire ten years as the most popular game in the entire arcade?
“Hello to you too, Ma’am,” Felix said with a grin as he jumped to her side, placing a kiss on her cheek before planting his feet on the ground so that he could look up at her without his constant

Ugh sometimes it can get irritating to have heightened senses. Don't get me wrong I love the rain, but when you're sick and haven't slept in a few days it can get on your nerves.
"I'm soo bored."
"If I keep you company will you shut up?" said a monotones voice. My ears perked up at the voice and I looked around finding the owner of the voice sitting barley two feet’s away from. Raven. How did she get there?

Sighing as Felix’s responses grew in volume with each thing he was told, Tamora closed her eyes and allowed her book to fall into her lap, her head leaning to rest against the back of the couch. It had been over an hour ago that Felix had moved into their bedroom to take a call, and ever since it had been a stream of shock and over reactions every few minutes, broken only by the weirdest squeaks she had ever heard coming from the room. What he was talking about with whomever had called she couldn’t even begin to imagine, but enough was enough. Pushing herself to her feet, deciding that she truly didn’t care if anyone thought her rude, Tamora stomped down the hall and pushed open the door, ready to steal the phone from her boyfriend and hang up just so she could get some peace and quiet.
The first thing she saw was the phone sitting on the end of the

As Alexis Johnson, 18, dragged her small two person boat back to shore with a fellow teammate, she was quickly ambushed by photographers and reporters in trenchcoats.
“Alexis!” one of the reporters shouted as the young woman turned around to face him, her shoulder length sandy tresses spilling over her face. The male reporter rudely pushed the other girl out of the way. “Next week will be your first big rowing competition for Gotham State... are you excited?”
The rest of the rowing team seemed to be spared by the group of news reporters at the moment, checking on the many boats they came to test that day. Everything made Alexis slightly nervous. When did Gotham’s pres

She had gotten her first the same day that her acceptance letter to enlist at the United Space Marine’s Training Camp had arrived in her mail, a series of numbers and letters across the middle of her back that, for the longest time, Felix had no clue as to what they stood for. They had befuddled him as he tried to understand the meaning behind the gibberish that his soon-to-be wife had decided to mark her body with, though none of the reasons he had thought of had ever made any amount of sense. Finally, it was not until almost three weeks before their wedding that he questioned her about it, his curiosity far too great to just wait for her to bring it up like he would for all the others.
“It’s my identification code, Short Stack,” Tamora had said with an amused smile, her hand reaching out to flick the bill of his hat over his eyes as she knelt to be on his level. “It’s traditional to get it tattooed somewh

In part because of her programming and partly due to habit, she had turned out to be the kind of person who could get two hours of sleep the night before and still be ready to spend the entire day fighting cybugs. Having perfected the technique of stealing catnaps during those few quiet moments between quarter alerts, she was always ready to go. Whether it be day or night, rain or shine, an arcade threating disaster or just a pleasant jump over to Sonic’s or Mario’s for a picnic, Tamora was always at her best with very little sleep.
Not that she didn’t enjoy the occasional day of just dozing in bed with Felix when the arcade was closed and nothing was planned, but she was always at her peak when she was almost about to fall asleep. No other way to stay alive in a game where the slightest moment of weakness and lapse in judgment meant getting eaten by a bug.
Felix, on the other hand, needed his rest.

You groaned. Something about yourself woke you up, and you raised your head, which was probably the worst mistake so far.
You swayed, and fell back with another groan.
You rolled over onto your back, and winced at the German in front of you.
“H-hi, Luds,” you whispered, smiling, before you covered your eyes with the back of your hand, the smile turning upside down into a grimace.
“(Y/n)?” The sound of cloth rustling hit your ears. “What’s wrong?”
Normally, you’d head for your parents’ room, but you were living alone now…with your German boyfriend as your roommate.
“…could you go get some paracetamol for me?”
There was a rustle of cloth again and dull thumps on the floor before the door creaked open. You turned your head, turned on the side lamp, glanced at the clock. It read five in the morning. Mentally sighing, you turned on your side.

The next few weeks were as something from a dream. Everything that had been denied me, everything that had disappointed me in my previous attempts at raising an army was entirely lacking from my experiences with these men. They understood and could follow orders, and were able to work of their own volition without my supervision at every juncture. Furthermore, they worked without complaint, whether the task I set was to move boulders or chop logs, or to raze a nearby village to the ground and massacre all the inhabitants. They seemed to understand that we were working towards a higher purpose, something that reached far beyond any of the mundane tasks I set them, and as such they worked with a will.
The erecting of my Sanctuary, however, was not proceeding as fast as I would have liked, and the unfinished structure meant that we had to travel miles to safety before each dawn, abandoning our work to the unpredictable caprices of fate and man f

Yokai Academy’s swimming team was getting ready for practice beside the pool. Donning skin tight suits in faux human forms, the monster girls stretched their long legs and arms, chatting casually and laughing joyfully.
“I’m ready to take a dive,” Yoriko, a nimble, petite witch girl, said as she shook her wrists and stood on her arched, bare feet. She was quite a beautiful and flexible lass, her ivory skin soft, her hair purple and fine as silk. After bending her head to the left and right, she smiled as she took a small sprint and did a little cannonball into the pool.
Some of the other students giggled as water came splashing in their direction, hitting them in the face and other parts of their exposed skin.
Yoriko was submerged for a while, her form unseen beneath the rippling water which suddenly seemed quite viscous, its trans

Footsteps resonated in the hallway and moments later, the door to the bedroom was opened, creaking softly. "Henry...?" gently called out a voice, gradually becoming louder as the man it belonged to came closer to the bed.
The youngest could only whine in answer, his body shivering uncontrollably as he tried to shift to look at his boyfriend.
"No! Don't move..." said Donghae, placing a glass of water and a small pill that he had brought on the nightstand table.
The puffy cheeked boy obeyed, too weak to fight anyway.
The Korean sat on the edge of the bed, lightly pushing his dongsaeng's bangs away from his beautiful eyes. "Can you sit up? It's time for your aspirin..." he said quietly, scanning the younger boy's features for the smallest sign of agreement. He didn't want to make him any more tired, so he would help him if he moving required too much energy.

The local aquarium was closing down for the night. Everyone was out, save one girl who fell asleep in a corner. This blonde girl, Bry, woke up in almost darkness and tried to leave, but the doors were locked. Nervous, she walked around looking at the local fishes that was displayed here. With no security staff or cameras off, Bry was free to do whatever she wants. The tanks provided the only light in this otherwise dark side of the building. As she walked, Bry noticed a door leading to a place reserved for important people to watch. Curiosity got the better of her and she walked inside. There she found creatures unlike anything that she ever saw before in her life. Some big, some small, some cute and some ugly. Bry was amazed by all this.
What she didn't know was that she wasn't the only sentient creature in this room.
In one of the tanks, laid a Tideborn. Tideborns were shark-like mer-people who were once thought of as extinct. This one, named Neptune, was sleeping in the vegetation w
