Project Bacon - #3This project was inspired by ProjectPorkchop a group that has bi-weekly journals showcasing deviants who produce wonderful art but for some reason have less than 200 watchers. We often come across art or get suggestions for artists with between 200 and 500 watchers that deserve more exposure, so I decided to start a series of features for those artists.Project Bacon - #310 months ago in Art Features More Like This

The world is filled with distractions that occupy us. We don't meditate much, it's scary to listen to the echoes of a rock hitting the well walls of your soul.
What if there is no bottom?
What if the sound your soul makes is too loud?
What if I have to change?
Many of us want to be on the high end of entertainment, to never be bored. At all times, an adventure of unceasing excitement. We text about boredom when it suddenly strikes us, we cannot sleep at night because we are suddenly not distracted or entertained and we're with ourselves again so we whip out our smart phones for updates, we cannot fully satisfy ourselves with distractions but we nevertheless try to so very hard. It ain't gonna work. No matter how long you keep on scrolling down that feed, you aren't going to find it.
What are you looking for, though? Why won't you just stop distracting yourself? What makes you fear loneliness so much?
I think the neurotic lives many of us lead, including very often my own,

Exactly 848 years ago a promising child was born in Masyaf.
Since his childhood his fate had been written, by loosing his father he had to grow fast, rely solely on his skills and Al Mualim's lessons. As you all now, he was betrayed by the man he always considered like a second father. But the never surrended, his temper and his stubborness brought him to becoming Grand Master of the Assassin's Order.
We want to remember him with his words:
"When I was very young, I was foolish enough to believe that our Creed would bring an end to all these conflicts. If only I had possessed the humility to say to myself, I have seen enough for one life, I've done my part. Then again, there is no greater glory than
The importance of the Daily RoutineChaos is sometimes presented to us as a good thing, the youthful characters in movies and video games that we all want to be. To be more spontaneous, not to be strangled by our dull duties. The importance of the Daily Routine2 months ago in Personal More Like This
Batman the Dark Knight stars a villain who is all about being a disorganized mess, seemingly relying on random luck and improvising rather than getting a plan going. In the end he falls, but I still don't think that the character was all that chaotic to begin with. Even the Joker planned his moves. His actions were surprising, but not utterly chaotic as we might be led to think.
On the other hand an orderly routine is shown as being the sign of the boring person, indulging in whatever little tasks their minuscule world can offer. A characteristic approach in the movies (comics, video games and other mediums) will have an accountant live an orderly and ordinary life, full of routines and little personal rituals while the Big and Brave Hero who goes out at night to stop criminals will have a seemingly

PE: Drawing Faces in Manga Style Basic notions for drawing heads and facesPE: Drawing Faces in Manga Style1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Welcome back everyone! Today I'm going to teach you the basics of drawing a face. Before I start, I want to clarify that this is the way I do it, but there are a thousand other methods that you can follow, make sure you understand the concepts and apply them the best you can, you don't have to stictly do it like I do, develop your own way and keep on learning!
Many artists suggest using circles to start sketching the head and the body but... I don't use them. I've never used them. I tried using them in the past and it only resulted in messed up lines and strange-looking faces and heads. So I dropped the circles. If you feel comfortable using them, I bow to you and I encourage you to keep using them, but I'm afraid you won't see any circles in my tutorial

This is a dream come true, a huge honor as well; the other artists' work is simply amazing, very deserving of their feature.
That said, I think it's again time to feature more amazing work of amazing artists!
I LOVE this piece, mizzzjulie really has a pretty fantastic gallery!

Deathly MotivationThe imposed constant fear of death is the destroyer of a soul in the long run, but I don't think you can fear death for too long if you have goals in your life, this particular fear can serve as a great motivation as I found out this past week.Deathly Motivation5 months ago in Personal More Like This
Never before was my life threatened in any way, never before did I have to run for cover a few times a day because there were rockets zooming towards my general direction. The first couple of days of this happening I felt miserable, and I tried with all my might and mind to convince myself that statistics were on my side. That getting hit directly is akin to winning the lottery, although the chances might be a bit more likely than that. I tried to convince myself that I'm at least safe under the cover I was running to, still, something in me wasn't convinced. I found my hands shaking a bit and had a trouble to do anything that might catch me surprised and unprepared to run for cover again, like sleeping or showering.
I tried to relax, deep

Anyone else getting a little tired of hearing this all the time? I know I am.
I didn't notice a lot of brony hate until recently. It must be because of how popular MLP is getting, and how much the fanbase is growing. And this is a subject that has always irked me. What in the hell gives anyone the right to tell someone else that what they like sucks? Who actually feels that entitled, and that righteous to presume that just because they dislike something, it's automatically awful? I don't care HOW much I dislike something, I would never flame it. Especially to specifically taunt those who DO like it.
The MLP:FiM fanbase is actually one of the things I love about the fandom. I can honestly say that I've never been a part of something this monumental, passionate and awesome. But of course there are going to be people that are rude, or people t
I'm Not Talented Please, don't say that I'm talented; I know that you mean well, but after these past couple of years I'd just rather not hear it. Don't get me wrong - it's not that I don't believe in talent, I just don't exemplify it.I'm Not Talented2 years ago in Personal More Like This
For clarity's sake: I am a self-taught artist, but my abilities did not gush forth from some divine wellspring; as a matter of fact you would be demonstrably wrong to say that I was ever a natural. I am the farthest thing from a gifted artist.
My learning curve may seem tremendous to outsiders looking in, but my strategies for improvement involve isolation, caffeine-addiction, insomnia and wrist-injury. It's taken me two years of sleep-deprivation and black coffee to produce even one painting I'd consider portfolio worthy.
So please don't take my work for granted with cavalier terms like talent and inspiration; I don't have the luxury of waiting around for inspiration and have often

I want to draw your characters! (FREE Requests)Hey all! I decided that I wanted to give back to my watchers. So, I'm going to offer an opportunity for all of you to get a free request. I will be doing five in total, and they will be fully-colored pictures of a character of your choice. It can be an OC of yours, or a fanart that you simply want drawn. If there is a specific pairing or couple that you want, I will consider drawing both characters. I may decide not to take your request if it is something that I am not comfortable with (although the things that I won't do make up a very small list).I want to draw your characters! How I Broke into Concept ArtSorry I've been away, everyone. Things are getting progressively busier and busier, but it's all good because I'm happily employed at Riot Games as an associate concept artist! I'm living with my friend in fumy downtown Los Angeles trying to find a place to live in sunny Santa Monica, where my beloved studio is.How I Broke into Concept Art3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Consider this a rough step-by-step tutorial of how to break into the industry based on my experience, the mistakes I made and the things I learned along the way - while they are fresh in my mind. Anyone listening to my story should know that since it already happened, by repeating the same process you won't be able to get the same results. You will need to work harder, because I just took your spot.
Now, the big dogs out there will have much more information about the industry, how it works and what they like to see. I'm simply attempting to sum up how I would approach it if I had 5 years to do it over.
Don't go to college. I make less in a year than my tuition was for

5 Fundamental Skills (by Bobby Myers)5 Fundamental Skills Every Artist Should Master5 Fundamental Skills (by Bobby Myers)1 year ago in Personal More Like This
(by Bobby Myers)
As an artist, your job is to immerse your viewers into a world that you have built and guide them safely through it. Artists have much in common with storytellers. Storytellers have several tricks that they use to keep their readers coming back for more. Like storytellers, artists can use similar tricks to help them produce more compelling artwork. In this article, we will explain 5 fundamental skills that every artist should master. Let's take a look!
The most important aspect of art to me personally is the composition. It sets the stage for everything else. This is your way to guide and lead the viewer to make them feel as if they are actually in your picture. If this part of the process is not created and controlled properly, everything else can and probably will fal
Women ArtistsThe other day, I attempted to put together a huge list of some professional and semi-pro women artists over on my tumblr, because it seems like too often women get overlooked when it comes to being honored and recognized. This year, I was incredibly honored to be nominated for a Hugo award in the Best Professional Artist category, but I was a little shocked to find out there hadn’t been another woman nominated in that category since Rowena Morrill in 1986. That’s more than a little ridiculous, considering there are so many women artists out there who are all amazing, who offer unique points of view and design solutions, and who need more visibility and recognition. While putting this list together, I was really excited to find tons of new artists I'd never heard of before.Women Artists1 year ago in Personal More Like This
