Ten things to do on your DeviantART visitWhether you have limited time or need a checklist of some sort, heres ten small tasks I do daily to build rapport, connect with other deviants, and promote my art within the DA community. They are not meant to be repetitive or overwhelming, but will touch upon many features of DeviantART. Though Im sure many of you may already do some (or all!) of these (:Ten things to do on your DeviantART visit4 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
10. Give someone a llama badge
One of the newer and more intriguing features of DeviantART is its badge system, which allows users to give one another all types of badges, some free and some costing real money. The most popular badge is the Llama badge, which costs nothing and has different levels where if you get a certain amount of llamas, your badge changes. Giving a llama badge is great for many reasons. For one, users tend to get llamas back in return, so if you are looking to get more llamas yourself, one of the easiest ways is to give out a lot of them. Another reason is obvious: you are sharing the lla

You are all amazing, but I will have to stop accepting requests, due to the amount increasing so rapidly. I chose the longer time since I did not expect it to gain such a popularity. I will still feature everyone on the 19th, I will not move that date. But as of this moment, new requests will not be accepted. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding. I will inform everyone when the feature is done.

[BIG UPDATE]: I've updated the title and added the sign "closed" so you know the giveaway is C-L-O-S-E-D! I thought it was enough saying there was already a winner, showing you the screenshot of the random number generator... but not. You're driving me nuts. This journal entry keeps being faved and there's people noting me to know when the giveaway will be closed so I can say who the winner is. If you can't read even a single title, don't expect me to reply to those notes telling you what's already been here for almost a month.
Sorry if you think I'm being rude, but everything's got a limit.
[UPDATE]: Good morning everyone, it's 7:11 on the morning here on Spain and already Monday in half of the world. As I said, I'll be using random.org to pick a winner. Please, don't post a comment or send me a note telling me you're not in

Hello, dear deviants!
Do you want more constructive feedback? You can get it for free.
In order to participate you only have to:
fav this journal
comment on it.
I will make sure I visit your page and comment on one of your deviations, giving it a constructive comment/critique.
one lucky deviant who participates in this project will get 100 points
Why am I doing this?
I'm trying to show to deviants a real value of good feedback. It's something we should all learn to appreciate, when the comments aren't just pure words like awesome, wow, good, cool...
Deviantart is a big community with many exposed/underexposed artists but all of us are the same when it comes to getting feedback. We all get good and bad.

How To Give Better Comments
During our visit here at deviantART, upon submitting our deviations, what is expected next? Comments! However, here's a little fun past-time activity: take all the excellent, if not better, deviations comments in your gallery. Now take a look at all the deviation comments you've ever received. You will notice that good comments don't happen as often as they should. Although we all want good comments and to be better commenters ourselves, we have to act upon it instead of just sitting around and hoping to receiving nice comments after submitting something. Give, to receive.
Here I show you the basic concept of commenting, to make yourself a better commenter; and I don't mean being a 'good' commenter since everyone comments in his or her own way. That i

Rule 34My latest little pony-themed comics have brought up some more questions about whether I'll ever do Rule 34s on these things. Well, no. I haven't fully analyzed the reason why I have an aversion to Rule 34 things in general. The more I know about a particular cartoon, either from the past or from a present following, the more of an "eh" reaction I have to fan-made adult images I run across. What I feel when I see it isn't dissimilar to seeing a celebrity's face photoshopped onto a nude body. No matter how well done it may be, there's a level of "I just know too well how fake this is" involved. This may seem surprising, since the jests that I draw are sometimes of an "after 9pm" subject. But these are just purely playing on embellishments of character, rather than a desire to elaborate on a cartoon character's personal sexual motions (or their genitals). I suppose as close as I've come was the human version of Zecora, which, while a nude, wasn't very explicit or sexual. It didn't show muRule 343 years ago in Personal More Like This

That's right, it's a one-shot, single-frame photo contest, and this time around, it's all about signs. What is this madness you ask? Read on to find out.
All Signs Point to Robitz
Everywhere you go, every day of your life, there are signs all around you. Yes that's right: regular old signs. Stop signs, exit signs, business signs, street signs, you name it; they're everywhere. In fact, unless you're standing in the middle of a remote cow field somewhere, chances are that you can't even escape being surrounded by signs, and let's face it, even out in the middle of nowhere, there's probably a
SpeechlessSeriously. The sheer horrifying nature of the internet has left me speechless for now.Speechless1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I live in a free country, where freedom of speech is an important matter. A long while ago, when I was still young and at school, we learned how to do a proper discussion in class. We were learned that provocation isn't that bad to get a message across, but that you should always have at least some respect for the people you discuss with, and talk with them with calmness and reason. If you lose your temper, you lose the argument. That's what I've learned.
The reactions I got on my last journal, however, have left met both sad and speechless. Because I'm unable to grasp how people can be so downright insulting towards a fellow human being. To a member of the same website....
My journal wasn't meant to tell people how much I hate fanartist. Because... I don't really hate them. I just feel sad about how hard it is to get attention for original work in the sea of fanart ou
The Myth of TalentThe Myth of TalentThe Myth of Talent6 months ago in Art Features More Like This
If there's one comment that is made more often than any other on any decent piece of artwork it's "you're so talented."
It's also the one [positively intended] comment I've seen the most artists bristle at, sometimes even retort. For some of us, it's a pet hate. Why?
We know it's meant as a compliment, so we smile and say thank you and try to resist the urge to insist that 'talent' is the biggest myth there is. Not only is it a myth, at its worst the use of the word is potentially destructive to the artistic community.
What's so wrong with the word 'talent'?
You might not realise it, but calling someone talented can often feel like a backhanded compliment. No skilled artist woke up one day just being able to do what they can do. We were all born completely unable to do just about anything useful. But through daily practise we learned how to use our limbs for motility, our voices for words, an
MTT species infoIMPORTANT UPDATE.MTT species info3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Wow. This got out of hand really fast. All of a sudden I have a ton of people making a ton of MTT characters all at once, popping out one right after the other. I really did not want it to turn out this way, these rules were meant to try and cut down on the amount of new MTTs being made, but that didn't work out like I wanted it to at all. Worked quite the opposite. So I'm sorry to say this, but the MTTs are now a closed species until further notice. Only way to get one from now on are adoption contests, which I will be hosting more often. Everyone who has already gotten permission for however many MTTs they asked of me, can still make theirs. Going back on my word like that would be lame. Again, I'm sorry, but I don't want to just wait until the fad blows over. The MTT species will stay closed for a while, but I am not sure how long exactly. Maybe a few months, maybe forever.
And I want to stress this is not because of any one certain person, so anyone
How to : Find Art ThievesPlease this journal, so that a lot of people can read it.How to : Find Art Thieves2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I noticed that a lot of people don't know how to search for their photos on the internet, so here is a short tutorial. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about art thieves, but i still think it is important to look out for them.
1. visit Google.com
2. Go to the page of the photo you want to search and click "show image"
3. Copy the Link and paste it into google.
4. This page should open, click "search by image".
5. Now you can browse trough the results.
6. The less results the happier you should be.
EDIT : You can also use websites like : tineye.com and iqdb.com
This was pointed out to me by some people, personally i have no experience with them, but i am sure that they work too.

If you want power, you need to turn the outlets on, and to do that you gotta push a switch down.
TV has far fewer commercial breaks.
English police are super nice (watched the British version of "COPS" and was amazed at how polite everyone was, even the criminals).
The second floor is called the first.
French Fries are called Chips.
Chips are called Crisps.
American-centric music doesn't stay here (Heard "Sweet Home Alabama" quite a number of times over there).
You are not expected to tip people (this was very hard for me to accept and I always felt guilty not tipping our waiters).
You are not expected to clean up your messes in food courts or.. anywhere actually (Janitors come by and clean up for you. Has something to do with security and getting rid of bomb threats).
Elevators are called Lifts.
Air conditioning seems scarce.
Always carry a big bottl
