Prints 101: Editing your PrintsHello again, it's renonevada with another article about how to make sure your prints are the best they can be.Prints 101: Editing your Prints1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
This time I'm going back to Prints 101 and tell you how to edit existing prints and add prints to deviations that already exist. This is a frequent question in the Help Desk and in the printscommunity.
Most of these instructions will apply to submitting a new deviation as well. A brief article was written about new submit here, if you would like to check that out here.
Editing your Print
If you have a deviation with a print already enabled, you will see the button below right on the deviation page, which looks like the image below.
Click that button and you will be taken directly to the Edit page for that print.
You will notice that a few sizes have been pre-selected for you. Those are defaults that deviantART chooses based on the size of you
Clarifying an Issue with Stock ResourcesThere appears to be a fair amount of misunderstanding on the subject of stock resources so what I would like to do today is attempt to clarify several issues which are of importance to the artists who generously provide stock resources to the public for use and hopefully dispel the confusion and misinformation which is beginning to circulate.Clarifying an Issue with Stock Resources1 year ago in DeviantART Announcements More Like This
The first issue at hand is in regards to your personal stock terms
Your Personal Stock Terms
Officially deviantART maintains only one "automatic" restriction and that is "No Commercial Use" and that particular restriction can easily be overridden by the actual stock provider.
We only ask a few things from you in return;
3 Sites I Can't Recommend Enough3 Sites I Can't Recommend Enough10 months ago in Personal More Like This
I never liked tutorial sites. All they seemed to offer was a slew of cheap tricks and what ever lame effect was trending at the time. I believe tutorials should be singular effects that can be built upon, used across different genres, and most importantly timeless. That is what SurrealPSD offers, along with articles concerning freelance work, and photomanipulation (as opposed to graphic design). It's a shinning gem. Plus it's ran by conzpiracy, so you know it's legit.

Photomanipulation: Interview with :devAbbeyMarie:Photomanipulation: Interview with :devAbbeyMarie:1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Welcome to the latest version of the Rock Stars of Photomanipulation interview series. I really appreciate AbbeyMarie for taking time out of her busy schedule to give us this interview!
Abbey is an American photomanipulator who has been on dA for over 4 years. To me, her gallery is filled with incredible dark, surreal, and fantasy work, crafted with unique vision and strict attention to detail. She is a must-watch for both horror enthusiasts and those who enjoy a surreal, colorful escape from reality as we know it. Be sure to check out her page!
I hope you enjoy this interview.
The first thing I want to ask is, could you please introduce yourself for those who don’t know you?
I'm Abbey! And I am chock full of awkwardness and uncertainty!
How would you describe your art and your style?
I always think dark surrealism, but they have a heavy fantasy/emotional vibe to t

Prints Tips: Cropping and the Bleed EdgeHello, everybody! I'm renonevada. For those that don't know, one of my jobs here at deviantART HQ is as quality control for prints. I look at every print before it is purchased for the first time to make sure that it will print properly. Some of the things I look out for are copyright infringement, cropping, pixelation, and to make sure it doesn't violate other policies, such as being too pornographic.Prints Tips: Cropping and the Bleed Edge1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
I plan on making a series of journals explaining how to make sure your prints will be approved when they get to me. I know that I'm excited to see the notification letting me know a print has been sold and I want to do what I can to make sure you all see it, as well.
For this journal, I want to speak about Cropping and the Bleed Edge.
This is hands down the number 1 reason why I am forced to reject a print, which in turn will cancel a sale. Because of this, I have tried to make this journal as detailed as possible.
The Bleed Edge is the v

"For the final installment of our Sci-Fi series, I thought it would be good to up the ante and do something real crazy. The following walkthrough outlines the techniques and resources used to create a Giger influenced ‘Biomech’ piece. Many of the processes are very similar to our previous walkthroughs, however this type of work requires an important added ingredient: patience!!"

Painting With A Knife!Painting With A Knife!Painting With A Knife!5 months ago in Art Features More Like This
You all may have seen those old masterpieces – painted in impasto techniques with rich and bold use of thick coats of colours and you have wondered how on earth they could do that.
So lets take a peek in the old masters' tools and techniques.
Today we will talk about a less used traditional technique – painting with a knife. Though it's a second most famous technique but not much artists use this technique.
Painting with a knife results in excellent textures, helps in bold application of thick rich colours, and, gives a whole new different level and style to your paintings.
Painting knives are very useful in impasto technique – both in acrylics and oils. Besides interesting textures, this certain tool gives you more control over paint and opens up a lot of ways to experiment. In one sentence, painting with a knife brings up your painting styles at a new height.
Some people says this technique can't be used to put

A seduction of the heart and soul engulfed in the passion of our union. You are as dancing embers to my eyes, wondrous and untamed. A beauty confined by nothing, set free as a flash of light upon a veiled sky. You fill my life with your smile and have touched my soul.Love Eternal1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Improvising: Daisuke's ProposalIt was a pleasant morning when Daisuke opened his eyes from a restless night. He had drank too much the night before and he needed to shave. Rubbing his eyes, he sat up and drew back the curtains, and then made his bed.Improvising: Daisuke's Proposal2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Upon dressing himself, he shaved and showered, looking sharp as he dropped his flat cap on his head. Before he left, he placed a fresh clover in a pocket he had sewn to the inside of his right shoe.
Daisuke went out to the kitchen, made himself a breakfast of bacon and rasher. Twisting his mouth in an uncertain frown as his hand hovered over the vodka bottle, he retreated and poured himself a glass of grapefruit juice. Later, after he finished, he sat down and read the paper with a cup of tea. The house began to awaken and that was when he left.
The Irishman walked out to the stable and tacked up one of the horses, riding out. It was pleasant enough, the ride. He was still tired. In the distance, smoke rose from the chimney of his destination. Knowing she was awake,
Crazy Stuff that people are supposed to believeA lot of common-sense and survival instincts are supposed to be suppressed, and we are supposed to believe in this MAGICAL stuff:Crazy Stuff that people are supposed to believe1 year ago in Personal More Like This
- Don't judge a book by its cover: It asks us to ignore our senses and our sight, and put ourselves in danger. If you have to take a taxi, will you choose one that looks destroyed, with crappy doors, and with a dirty driver, just because HEY may be it is a hidden jewel!! No, it is not. It is stupid and illogical. You will end up abducted, raped or murdered. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.
- Stereotypes are false: We are supposed to think that that stereotypes appeared magically without a reason. The truth is that stereotypes are the collective product of accumulated experiences. YES, we know that NOT all the snakes are poisonous, but if the stereotype is that Snakes are poisonous then I have to be careful around them because DARN a bunch-load of snakes are poisonous a

Silently, the masked Shinobi slipped into Daisuke's room. It was an hour before sunrise or so. He had spent the majority of his time awake that morning walking around the fortress wherever his curiosity prompted him to. He watched the chef bake, ate a little breakfast, watched the guards change duty and gamble. He even played with a stray kitten. The soft, feathery fur made his fingers tingle with delight as he cradled the fragile little body in his arms. It had fallen asleep there and he hadn't the heart to wake it up, so he carried it with him. It was a little gray kitten, with white mittens, green eyes, a white mouth with a stripe, a little blotch of white on his ear, a tuft of white on his chest, all topped with a tiny pink nose.
He opened the door, casting a streak of light on Daisuke, who slumbered within and then walked in the dark of his sensei's room, closing the door softly behind him. The kitten, by now, began to mew at him. He let it down and it scampere

On the day of your birth, you were likely surrounded by those who loved you, who would lead you through the rough first scary years of life, and who would stand by as you grew into a capable person. As time passed, others may have drifted into your life, and even if you didn't know it, they also nurtured and cared for you in much the same way, helping to shape the person you would become.
When a community like deviantART is born, the same common thread binds its originators and founding members together. Over the years, more and more creative beings drift into its life and strengthen its core every single day, resulting in an exponentially inspirational powerhouse for the sheer fact that they've become a part of it. That nurturing spirit, that inherent support system, that caring community inspires deviantART to grow, and it comes from inside each and every one of you.
Drawing Tip 1 Hello!Drawing Tip 11 year ago in Personal More Like This
Thank you for being patient everyone! Here is the little trick that i use EVERY time i draw a picture.
*So if you have drawn something and you know it just doesnt look right..theres a way to tell what you need to fix. Hold your drawing up to a mirror, or flip the paper to the backside and hold it up to a light. Now this will show you a backwards image of your drawing, you'll be able to see what parts look strange and you can fix them! If you are drawing an anime face, they are usualy semetrical, using this tip will help you accomplish this and you will end up with a perfect drawing!
Good Luck everyone!!! Please let me know if this was at all helpful!

Anonymous woke far before the sun had risen. He was exhausted and his muscles ached and screamed at him as he stiffly pulled himself up. A headache rolled in like an avalanche of pain in his brain and he closed his eyes, running his fingers through his hair. He couldn't remember why his head hurt or why he was sore, all he could really do was feel.
Hands reached for him in the dark and a whisper tickled his ear.
"Hey, you took a nasty fall yesterday when those jerks backed us into that cave... You should go back to sleep."
Anonymous's lavender eye shifted, illuminating the cold face of Aygul. She was firm in her decision, but the Shinobi was aroused by restlessness. Daisuke had been badly wounded that day. He had to make sure his sensei was sound. He pulled himself out of the bed and proceeded to leave.
She grabbed his arm, "I told you to go to bed."
Anonymous shook his head, the motion c
