They want all the cool shit, without the slog through the mud for the first 3 - 5 years to get there. They want instant rockstar status, to tell their friends, to be cool nerds etc.
My lecturer at Qantm, stood up in an auditorium and told the entire room of 70 odd brand new students that at the end of this diploma, there would only be about 20 people left, of which 10 or so would pass, and only 2 or 3 may get a job, of which 1 or maybe 2 will be in the games industry for any great length of time.
That stuck with me big time, and what he

1. You must post these rules.
2. Answer the questions the tagger set for you, and create new questions for the people you tag to answer.
3. You have to choose 10 people to tag and post their icons on your journal
4. Go to their pages and tell them you have tagged her/him.
5. No tag backs.
6. No crap in the tagging section about "you are tagged if you're reading this." You have to tag 10 people.

I'm a huge movie soundtrack nerd. I don't listen to actual songs very often
2: What is your favorite game franchise? Do you even have one?
I'd have to say Halo, because HOLY SHIT the online multiplayer was so good. I haven't used a games console for anything other than watching DVDs for two years now though, because I've been so caught up with work etc. ONE DAY I will renew my Xbox Live. ONE DAY SOON!

My Thoughts on ImprovementI get a lot of questions on how to go about improving your drawing ability. I never really know how to answer them since every artist I've met seems to grow better under different conditions. For example, my friend :icondana-t: has completed over one hundred sketchbooks in the past four years. I've completed four in the same amount of time, but our trends of improvement are (kinda) similar because we learn in different ways.My Thoughts on Improvement4 months ago in Personal More Like This
One of the reasons I never end up making a tutorial is basically because I don't think they work. Plenty of people will disagree with me on this, but that's my honest opinion. There might be a lot of opinions I type out here you'll disagree with, so keep in mind these are just my views. Here are my general thoughts on how to improve.
Stop thinking about style. Style is something you will develop gradually after you've spent years emulating other styles, talking with other artists, observing the world, and pinpointing what looks best to you. Ev

Telikos Protocol Guest ArtistsWith the release of the first collected volume of Telikos Protocol (due out June/July) we will have invitational artwork based on the universe of Telikos Protocol created by some of our favourite artists, fortunately every artist we have approached has agreed to participate with great enthusiasm. I for one am very excited to have these very talented artists on board.Telikos Protocol Guest Artists10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Along side the guest artists there will also be 2 other artists from the art group The Luminarium where as I type we are running a new exhibit/contest based on Telikos Protocol, we will then pick the 2 images we think are the most awesome that will be in the printed volume, the other images made will be shown all over the Telikos Protocol sites.
We will be releasing their names on the projects Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/telikosprotocol
Already we have announced the first of these guest artists, the insanely talented Danny Luvisi :iconDanLuVisiArt: an artist who really needs no introduction. I can't wait to

Wacom Tablet Left-Click Delay Problems - Windows 7I am using Windows 7 64-bit. But this would probably also apply to 32-bit users. My tablet is a Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch. But, again, this would probably apply to all other Pen Tablet products, even those not made by Wacom.Wacom Tablet Left-Click Delay Problems - Windows 73 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've had issues with delays when clicking with my pen. Whenever I left-click anywhere on the screen with the tip of the pen and trying to drag, there was always a half-second delay before the pen performs the correct action. This was especially annoying when trying to paint in Photoshop or sculpting a 3d model in Mudbox or just performing any click-and-drag action in general.
I have asked about this issue sometime ago. Wacom suggested minimizing the double-click distance in the Pen Tablet settings. But most of the solutions I found on the internet, including those from Wacom, involved turning off the Tablet PC Input Service, only to cause further complications such as the service restarting upon reboot of the computer even though the service is labeled "stopped" i
Cards Against HumanityI've been spending a lot of time playing one of the best games ever,it's called Cards against humanity wich can be played here, online with other people http://pyz.socialgamer.net/game.jsp .Just create a username and your set. Now,how to play it,there are white and black cards, the black cards have a sentance or phrase and the white cards (the ones in your hand) have a word or phrase like so,''My teacher hates it when _____.'' and you will pick the funniest card from your hand and play it.The ''Card Czar'' wil pick which one he or she thinks is funniest and that person will get a point.Being the card czar goes from player to player each round. This by no mens is a game for kids, this is most of the time dirty or dark humor and some of the funniest shit I have ever read. There is also a setting for My Little Pony cards if your into that but in no way do you have to play with those.Cards Against Humanity1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Pimp My Gun Remake/ImprovementHello guys and girls(do we have any in this group?),Pimp My Gun Remake/Improvement6 months ago in Personal More Like This
A new post about the replacement/remake of Pimp my gun idea of mine. Yeah!
My internship is coming to an end and it's time to start a new web development project. So the PMG Replace project is on!
So first things first. A bit of technical information for you guys and girls.
The project is going to be build using HTML5, Jquery and PHP. This way it's gonna be widely available on every browser that supports this scripting languages. The beautiful part about is that it's also very easy to modify it and make plugins for it. After some time the project is started it will be released as an open source project so that if I can't make any updates to it you guys can.
The first part of this project will be focused on creating the application which we can create content (guns, tanks, other shit). Then after we finished that we can that a look at creating a way for weapon parts to be added into the application. I have a idea how to do that but we

Pimp My Gun remake?Hello my friends and comrades,Pimp My Gun remake?8 months ago in Personal More Like This
So I have a really crazy idea for you guys and gals. As we know there is this ''application'' on the internet called Pimp my gun in which you can build guns and stuff with shapes. We like it since is free and always available. Problem is that since the owners are to buzzy to update it there aren't many updates. (Last one is 17 sept. 2011).
Since I myself have some knowledge of using Flash Professional (the program in which the app is build) I though may be we as a group could make our own app! A Weapon-Fans Pimp My Gun! Of course I can't do this alone and I gonna need some help doing this but if we work together as a group I'm sure things will work out just right.
The only thing that where going to focus on is making the app and not the content since there all ready guys doing that exact thing over at PSGunlab Project. I'm going to talk to those guys about how we can work together to make it even more awesome..
So that it for now. Let me hear what you thi
Rangers Project UpdateHello everyone! Update time again.Rangers Project Update3 months ago in Personal More Like This
After a one year visit to New Zealand I'm flying back to the US in one week. For better or worse I'm lining up a ton of changes to happen at the same time. Big move, new city, getting my own place, and fully launching the Rangers Project!
The Rangers art book now has a name, "The Protectorate Wars". I'm still undecided on a final name for the entire setting, so "Rangers Project" covers everything for now. The kickstarter page for the digital art book is almost completed, I have everything in place except for the intro video. My plan is to launch the kickstarter as soon as I have my computer set up in the US, so expect it within the next 2 weeks, barring any problems.
$15 is going to net you the digital book (in PDF form), so save up now if you want to support me. There will be a discounted early bird special on this, so keep an eye out for my launch announcement and get in fast to save a few dollars (I will try to ensure my DA watchers get a head star
I am ashamedAs a gun owner and enthusiast, videos like this make me ashamed. Guns are not toys. They are not to be paraded about on the streets or in coffee shops for some cheap political motive. They are not for frightening pedestrians or initiating conflict with police, who do not make the laws but enforce them. This is not an exercise of right but an abuse of privilege.I am ashamed1 month ago in Personal More Like This
People hunting out in the field, plinking at the range, educating others about firearms and their proper use, quietly (and legally) carrying a pistol under their shirt for personal protection, keeping a gun locked up by their bedside to protect their home and their family--these people are exercising their rights. People who stand unarmed in public forums or voting booths to express their opinions are exercising their rights.
Those who would seek to disturb the peace by brandishing weapons in peaceful places to fend off the imaginary tyrants in their heads are fools. Those who hide behind thei

An Aereoscopic Adventure! An Aereoscopic Adventure!6 months ago in Art Features More Like This
i have always been a huge fan of art books. in fact i would say that 99 percent of my bookshelves are filled with art books ranging from animation to fashion design and everything visual in between. it was partly why i am so excited to have produced my own book, Walking Your Octopus. one of my goals with this project was to create an art book that was also an art object and this vision guided every aspect of the book's production. as we all know ebooks are becoming more and more popular and i struggled with how my book which was a celebration of all things analog might fit into the digital space. fortunately my very creative friend eric, had the solution...Aereoscope.

Purple DogsI was at a house party in the hills of Studio City in LA a few years back, spending time with my buddy Jeff, an aspiring screenwriter and director. I was never one to go out clubbing and get crazy, mostly because I work best when I'm rested and not hung over. But a 100-person gathering with " Party Jeff " was always a good time and all I had to do was bring my own beer.Purple Dogs5 years ago in Personal More Like This
At the time I think I was working on an Activision gig for a game called Soldier of Fortune, which was turning into a nightmare. Concept art is fun in theory, but I was working under a committeemeaning 12 guys in suits putting their two cents in about each line I put down. Everything I did had to be redone at least once. I was being well paid but the stress was costing me my sanity. Some people HAVE to put their fingerprints all over a project whether they're an expert or not. Some people want to change things simply because they can.
