Some people ask me how I learned to draw and what tips I can give them! So I wrote a tutorial and hope it will help! Here are my tips for you to become a better drawer!
First of all a good drawing stands with good materials. Good paper (no copy paper) and good pencils. If you're not sure, the expensive ones are mostly pretty good! For graphite I use Staedtler Mars Lumograph and for colour Faber-Castell "Polycromos".You need to use different numbers of pencils: 4H for very light areas and 6B for the dark areas. A big contrast in a drawing makes a better drawing! You can't make a good drawing with one HB pencil. You need a 6B or 4B to create more depth in the drawing.Choose a good picture. The greatest drawer in the world can't make a good drawing from a bad picture. A high-resolution image is necessary to see all the details! Next to the high-resolution, it has to be an interesting picture. The result could be a beautiful drawing, however a boring image wouldn't attract a
Holy flamin' electrons, Batman! So, I awoke to something of a surprise, this morning — hence the impetus to actually post a journal entry on here! — discovering over 1000 messages in my Feedback list, today, thanks to the free PS brushes I posted, yesterday ( http://fav.me/d6g805t ). Yeah. Didn't quite expect that. I mean, I've been using those brushes for ages, and didn't consider them all that special. But, it's gratifying to know others like them, too.Holy flamin' electrons, Batman!8 months ago in Personal More Like This
In any case, I'm under no illusions. One surprisingly popular deviation does not a trend make. And, given I've only posted something like a dozen deviations in total in the past year, since joining the site, it should be fairly obvious I'm not exactly the most prolific artist out there. At least, not when it comes to posting my work. So, I'm not expecting hordes to be regularly beating a path to my door. (Still, the attention's been kinda fun, I must confess. They say "page views" is only a number — and it's true; it doesn't mean much — but it's a fun n

There are a plethora of brushes available to you on photoshop. This guide will explain different brush settings, as well as how to install different brush packs here on deviantART. This guide is for pressure sensitive pen tablets. It is going to be much easier to do things with a tablet. Ones by Wacom are good, and you can get a bamboo for under 99$ USD.
Basic Brushes in Photoshop
It's important to stick with default ones to learn all the settings. You can do so many things with the hard round brush.
Bring up your brush palette in one of the following ways. (note I am in CS3, so the icons will look much older, but same thing. )

Watercolor tips and tutorials!Hey guys. So I've been asked countless times to make a watercolor tutorial... and while I don't really have time to put that together right now (it's that crazy time of the semester) I did write out a few very basic tips regarding the nature of watercolor. I do plan on making an actual tutorial eventually as well, with pictures and more stuff about process. Perhaps this winter I can make a proper tutorial!Watercolor tips and tutorials!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
-Start with a ground wash at the beginning of painting something, with a high concentration of water. Starting with a light color base will help to unify the color scheme of the rest of the picture.
-Watercolor dries lighter than it looks when it's wet. Remember to keep this in mind. Gouache, on the other hand, dries darker. That's one of many things that makes combining gouache and watercolor tricky
-Work in layers, from light to dark. Don't expect to go straight from a white page to a dark color all at once! The darkest areas will come last.
-If you've got two areas of differ

Need textures? We had a feature of drawing references yesterday, so let's take a look at textures now. I must admit that I'm a total freak when it comes to this topic. I love textures, I love making them and I love seeing them everywhere. In this feature I'll also include some tutorials, traditional and digital, so you could learn how to make some on your own.Need textures?1 year ago in Art Features More Like This

Where are you from?
-France, currently living in the Cote d'Azur!

Traditional: 0.5 Mechanical pen I've had since im like 7. I love it aaaa.
Digital: Wacom Bamboo Pen&Touch, Paint tool SAI + GIMP
Can you do a tutorial on X?
Im always hesitant on tutorials because I'm a very irky person and I don't like when things are used wrongly (meaning, I dont like when people just use tutorials to replicate a style instead of improving their own)... So I'll take suggestions but I will most probably put out "progresses" or "walkthroughs" instead of real

Self Suggesting DD'sThank you so much for all the +favs, the comments and +devwatchs I've received and still am for my Daily Deviation "Carried Away". You guys are awesome and I appreciate your support so much!Self Suggesting DD's2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Now I have a confession to make... I self suggested this deviation to DomiSM, so it didn't come as a surprise I received it.
I know from being a volunteer that some people feel that DD's should be suggested by others or that it should be a surprise. Well no, not always. Sometimes you have to fight for your work to gain exposure. Gone are the days where deviantART was a small site... you need to learn how to use the channels on dA to get the exposure your work deserves.
These days, I work in vector and the high pecentage of work I upload to dA is client work. A huge part of being a Freelancer is marketting yourself and putting yourself out there. This is why self suggesting yourself for a Daily Deviation should be
