Digital Hacks #2: Photoshop The Basic TheoryDigital Hacks #2: Photoshop The Basic Theory3 months ago in Art Features More Like This
We often do not think about our software in terms of why it does something in a certain way or even how it is capable of assisting us in creating our art. However, the process behind the scenes that allows us to create our digital art, truly is an art-form in itself. In this issue of Digital Hacks, I will be showing you behind the curtain of Adobe Photoshop and introduce you to the basic theory of how it all works. I look forward to introducing you to the basics and continuing to teach you about Photoshop using Digital Hacks as our "online classroom" until you have mastered the software for yourself. Oh, and don't worry I have tons of creative tutorials, tips, and tricks coming up in future articles to make your life as a digital artist easier.
Adobe Photoshop (Ps) is an image editing application, with an abundance of tools and commands for creating and working on bitmaps (digital images). Photoshop provides

User Friendly Journal Skin Coding
I've been making journal skins on DeviantART since 2010, I'd dabbled in CSS before, but never for other people. I know what my codes are and how to use them to their full potential and often, just code on the fly when I want something to do something. But making free and commission skins here showed me that I needed to make them as easy to use as they are pretty. And really, who wants to type in a lot of extra HTML when they go to write a journal? It is easy enough to access the artist's comments.
But even then, copy & paste, memorize that.... It can be a lot to deal with if you do not know CSS and HTML. Which is the reason most people get someone else's skin design in the firs

Digital Hacks #3: Add Copyright Information in PsIn this article, I will be showing you how to add Copyright and Descriptive Information to your files in Photoshop. This is useful for when we publish images online and want them to retain information about their source regardless of where they end up on the web.Digital Hacks #3: Add Copyright Information in Ps3 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Photoshop and some similar image-editing applications can detect the copyright information in an image and display it as soon as the image is opened. Copyright laws give the creators of images certain rights to exclusively publish and distribute their works. Adding appropriate information to your images is one way to help protect your work.

Food for Thought for Artists Offering CommissionsI will type out longer thoughts on this matter later, but I have been learning quite a lot in my current professional practices art class.Food for Thought for Artists Offering Commissions4 months ago in Personal More Like This
This class has truly helped to redefine how I approach commissioned artwork.
To anyone who is considering art/illustration/graphic design as a career, I highly recommend investing in this book: Graphic Artist's Guild: Handbook to Pricing and Ethical Guidelines.
This book outlines industry standards for artwork and how all artists should approach commission and design projects.
It outlines transfer of rights and the cost of buying certain rights.
Many non artists or people who aren't familiar with how the art industry works, assume that when they purchase a commission from an artist they are buying all of the rights that go along with it. This is absolutely NOT the case. All rights can be negotiated or bought at an additional fee, but unless stated and paid for the artist retains all rights.

DD Suggestion GuidelinesUPDATE > I am no longer accepting DD suggestions, please send them to current CV's > :faq18:DD Suggestion Guidelines2 years ago in Personal More Like This
As one of the current CV's assigned for Traditional Art Galleries, I am taking Daily Deviation suggestions - I can only feature artworks within Traditional Art categories.
How to suggest
- Send me a note with "DD suggestion" as a subject
- In the note, include a thumbnail of the work you are suggesting
- I encourage you to write a brief description of why you think this piece should be featured, but it's not obligatory
- If you wish to remain anonymous as a suggester, please let me know ahead of time
Personal process of going through my suggestions
- Before suggesting, make sure the artist hasn't already received a Daily Deviation within the past 6 months.
- You don't need to suggest more than one piece, I will always look at the entire

'Life Drawing 5' by algaegoblin
Do you know how to sketch human figures but do you want to refine your anatomy skills? Or do you not know anatomy at all and you are tired to trust your imagination? Did you notice you create disproportions in your drawings?
If you are aspiring artists and you already have your own style, you might as well believe you have no need of a guide, but you are wrong. Before exaggerating human proportions and begin to have your own style, you first have to know the basics.
This little guide is the result of an accurate research and 5 years of high school of art, and it's created for all those who want to learn something new or just make a useful review.
For those who have already studied art, my suggestion is to go to step 6 or trying to repeat all steps in Digital format.
First of all, if you want to learn faster you should draw using traditi

How to have a popular artist friendSteps:How to have a popular artist friend5 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
1. Tell your friend who draws: "Let's become great artists together!"
2. Practice art together
3. Become good at art together

And now you've got a popular artist friend!
I've seen many advice on getting an art friend, but the above advice is how people do this. I believe mine is very accurate.
