Im not the best at digital work but I can color! so I used my comic style and threw Riddick into a battle at the foot of a cave. don't know much about the creatures...hopefully they are similar to the movie I think the cave view came out nice and I feel its original.
So here is my vision of Riddick battling for desperate survival
Used Riddick asset pack 3 and 4, as well as a view images form the trailer
Im a young artist and still have muchhh to learn, i still use a lot of photo-references for my ideas, i know every successful artist dose or has done in the past, its how we learn, you cant expect to paint realistically if you dont study the world around you first, and the only way to do that is by using images or photo reference and incorporating them into your imagination, and after a while you wont need photos anymore!! thats where im hoping to be in about 10 years from now but anyways, im particularly proud of this one because i was able to fuse my imagination with the asset pack images nicely together
Corel Painter 4, gosh i need to upgrade No texture brushes, just basic round tip thanks for checking out my design and i wish every one good luck!!
and since we cant sign our pices, according to the rules, i will sign it below lol
My entry for the Rule the Dark contest. I've been twiddling with this for a while and am decently happy with it now. I'm actually a pretty big fan of Riddick... though not nearly as much as my mom. It's kind of creepy, actually... lol.
I gave my all with this final entry into the Riddick contest and all of this is hand drawn from references. This challenged me in every way and I hope you like the finished piece. There are still details that I want to work in if I can find the time but I wanted to share this with you all now. All of this is drawn in Photoshop and any additional references used belong to me.
EDIT: As this has come up a few times I wanted to reiterate that this is not a photo and is all drawn.
My entry for the Riddick: Rule the Dark Contest. There is so much I would like to keep working on for this, but it seems the deadline has caught up to me! Either, way, Im pretty happy with the turn out. I tried a lot of different techniques with this and I hope I get some good feedback. Thanks for looking!
I wanted to make an alternate version of my earlier submission. Where my previous rendition was very limited in hues and tonalities (simillar to how the dark is approached in the films) with very deliberate muted colors, I wanted to experiment with a more playful, less contrained, colorful pallette and some harsher lighting for my second submission. I also wanted it to feel more painterly than the previous render. I like both, the previous submission looks more CG, the original has a ton more detail. Where this one feels more like a concept art painting, it's much rougher, but that can also be nice.
Here's my other (original & main) entry: fav.me/d6igk1u
Again, this whole scene exists in 3D. I modeled everything, hand painted the textures, and lit, rendered and composited the scene. I might do an animation in the future.
But first, a nice weekend's break after 2 long, hard weeks of work!
