Contest: Crossovers! As kids, we often mashed our toys together, regardless of Copyright. Superman would take command of G.I. Joe to defeat the combined forces of Doctor Doom and the Decepticons, while Barbie took a break from her idealistic lifestyle to become a Pokemon master. And the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles got recruited into Starfleet and taught Spock the wonders of pizza. (And from the furor arose Mister Rogers in a blood-stained sweater.)Contest: Crossovers!3 years ago in Official DeviantArt Contests More Like This
And thus, the Crossover was born. It's something we never really outgrew, either. To this day, seeing our favorite characters from different stories meet and compete is a guilty pleasure that we all like to indulge in. So now's your chance to indulge yourselves for prizes!
Great Portfolio is greater than College DiplomaGreat Portfolio is greater than College Degree.Great Portfolio is greater than College Diploma1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Of Course, I’m not exposed to every school in the world but from my general knowledge, personal experience and some basic logic: School is way too expensive to attend, especially if it takes you years later to get a decent job after graduation.
Here are three reasons why I’m not happy with most, not all, colleges in america. Especially for artists.
IT COSTS WAY TOO MUCH MONEY! I hear now that some art schools are charging $30,000 a year, for three years. That’s $90,000 of debt. Most professionals in my field of concept art don’t make that in a yearly salary. It’s more expensive than some medical schools and that’s becoming a doctor of some sort. So why is it so expensive? Doesn't matter, it just is.
Think about it this way. You are about to invest almost a tenth of a million dollars for the promise of being a capable person in the industry. But by the end, all you get is a piece of paper and a
DA's Commission System and Minimum WageDA has recently announced a new portal for users to search through those offering commissions to find artists they want to support.DA's Commission System and Minimum Wage2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The commissions system will be handled using DA's internal currency system of points, of which DA takes a royalty from.
Commissions are allowed to start at 10 points each for any type of art produced, from rough sketches and small icons to full digital works. Commissions is a great way for artists to offer their services, but are we creating a low-wage market where over-abundance of supply and lack of unification undercuts everyone?
That is to say, how can we guarantee that artists get paid fairly for their work?
10 points is roughly 13 cents. 1000 points may seem like a large commission, but it's really only $10.
Right now DA takes a 20

To watermark or not to watermark?Watermarking is a term used loosely to describe:To watermark or not to watermark?2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
- Branding of your images in a subtle way, such as across the bottom or even on a solid color bar to one side of an image;
- Marking a solid logo and/or copyright across your image, disturbing part of the subject. The watermark may be opaque, partially transparent or even embossed;
- Digitally labeling your image with a copyright that is not actually visible.
Now, the big question for photographers is should you watermark your images, and if so how?
Reasons photographers add a watermark to their images - PROS
Establish copyright: This tells others the name of the copyright owner and creator of the image.Branding: This shows others who you are and often whe
Nick ParkWell I am sure this is a name a lot of you are familiar with! But for those of you who need an introduction to him, Nick Park is stop motion animator who works for Aardman Animations in Bristol. So to name a few works that you may be familiar with are Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Creature Comforts.Nick Park2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
His works have been nominated for and also won quite a few BAFTA awards and Oscars.
He continues to work with traditional stop motion animation and plasticine, so the old 'move it a bit and take a photo' technique. His first feature piece for Aardman, A Grand Day Out, was a student project at the time. This was funded by the studio which allowed him to continue to work on it part time whilst continuing his studies. This became a huge hit and was nominated for an Academy Award for Animated Short Film. Unfortunately he lost this award to another short, Creature Comforts, which was also his work anyway!
His animations have graced British TV for many years and it has gained a lot of a

It's been a while since we've hosted a contest, so I think it's time that we put something together.
It's winter, and one of the things I associate winter with is snow. Of course, this group has members from all around the world, so not everyone experiences winter the way I do. So I decided to have this contest revolve around the color of snow, white.
READ ALL THE RULES.
The main color of your entry must be white.
You must be a member of this group. To become a member, simply go to our group --> http://things-not-seen.deviantart.com/ and click "Join our Group" at the top of the page.
After you've uploaded your entry to deviantART, submit it to the group's favs in the "Contest: The Color White" folder. Don't know how to do this? See below.
Remember, our group is all about originality and unusuality, so be as creative as possible.
All mediums will be accepted.
This is why the Doctor is RealThis is something that actually happened some time back, but I didn't really write it down or anything. Lately though, I was thinking about it, and I wanted to share it with my friends here. This is why the Doctor is Real2 years ago in Personal More Like This
To give a little background, everyone in my family watches (and loves) Doctor Who. I have a very young sister who has only gotten to see a handful of episodes of the new series because the rest would scare her, but she still was desperate to see more of the Doctor, so we started watching the classic episodes together. She's our little Whovian. She loves all the Doctors, especially Eleven and Four, and she said Sarah Jane is her hero because 'she must be, like, the bravest person EVER and I want to be brave like her.'
I guess that's why I wasn't sure what to tell her when one day she walked up to me, a serious expression on her little face, and asked 'Sarah, is the Doctor real?'
I was stunned. I thought she understood it was just a show. She's never even believed

I offered to help out with project educate and set up a beading tool compilation for all the beading beginners out there, and it might turn out an interesting read for the intermediate too. I want to explain the tools, the must haves and the should haves.
There where so many different tools, pliers, and cutters, snips and what else. So I decided to make the 101 the one place you could look for, when you need to look up stuff. And to make sure you don't get bored with me babbling away we get right to the point Beading tools cover all those things you need to start with beading and as well those to make beading life a lot easier and comfy. We all do love when it gets comfy don't we?

When recently asked how his political candidate would explain certain positions taken during the
nomination process with contrary positions to be taken during the general election, the campaign chief
replied that stated political positions were “like an Etch A Sketch,”—meaning they could simply be
flipped over, erased and begun over from scratch.
Were it that adult life were as simple as a happy Etch A Sketch memory from childhood.
(The campaign chief took heavy heat for his flippant, if truthful, statement.) The incident made
me wonder how many of us had early experiences as “sketch artists” with that incredible red toy that
has become almost standard issue for so many children still to this day.

Getting some stuff off my chestI don't really know how to start this journal off. I don't really know what exactly to say, even. But this has to be said before I let myself shrug it off like everything else.Getting some stuff off my chest2 years ago in Personal More Like This
If you're a longtime watcher, then you know I've been struggling with depression for about a year and a half. Honestly, it's been longer, but that's when I really came to accept it for what it was. Lately, I've been telling myself to just not let anything get to me--to find my smile and laugh back, and not the slightly fake ones I've been wielding for the past few months. To tell the complete truth, that hasn't really been working.
Writing is my way to vent. My way to channel my emotions and feelings into something that I can show them in another manner other than ugly thoughts. But, writing is also my way to create new worlds and tell countless stories of people and lands that I've devised in my messed up head. A couple weeks ago, my LA Honors teacher basically told me I can't write essays or the like that will

While I was watching in front of his grave filled with fire flies everyone started to

- Do you see Natsu? Everyone are sad... Why... why...? Ever since that day...
