Artists's Toolbox Project Educate Week: TabletsTablet questions. Anyone who hangs out in the digital art forum or the hardware forums sees these threads constantly, and they pop up other places to. Which tablet should I get? Is it worth it to get a tablet? What's a good starter tablet? This article will cover the basics of drawing tablets: what they are, what they do, if you need one, and which one you should get.Artists's Toolbox Project Educate Week: Tablets2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
What is the difference between a drawing tablet and a touchscreen tablet such as an Ipad? Can I draw with both?
To put it simply, a drawing tablet is used solely for art related endeavors, there's no apps or other functions involved. You can't stick a calender and fruit ninja on a drawing tablet. But a touchscreen tablet has tons of different functions and is all touch controlled.
So, can you use a touchscreen tablet for art? Technically, yes. But it can be challenging. Touchscreen tablets aren't as precise and the apps you can get to draw with aren't generally very extensive. This is fine

Here is a little bit about finding the right size of characters in the perspective of the scene.
For example, one of the thousands of my unfinished work "Resurrection." The image below will guide you.
1. Select the background and characters of the scene
2. Hold the line of the horizon and set the first character, which is built according to the scene. Join in the triangle height of human growth and the point of intersection with the horizon (the green triangle). Now, according to this triangle, we can easily determine the size of the receding figure.
3-4. If the position of the new character should not be this triangle, then the point of the new position of A is enough perpendicular to AB to the triangle and find BC s
August ~ Top SubmissionsWe had some great submissions to our Favourites folder for August and this blog is a feature of some of the top photos that were shared with us this past month! Each photo that's chosen also gets selected to go through our main gallery folders, which as you know are not open to the general deviant public. The Writer's Diary v2.0____________________________________________________The Writer's Diary v2.03 years ago in Personal More Like This
My favourite poem ever :-
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action --
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.

"Take Only Photographs, Leave Only Footprints." - Urban Explorers Creed
Sometimes it's easy to forget the things around us that were once iconic and useful. In everyday life that could include a multitude of household objects, bits and bobs, clothes, gadgets - all sorts. But in Photography - a specific aspect of Photography - people close doors and board up buildings sometimes with little or no notice. They erect a fence around that old asylum and ship everything out or they install security guards at the boundaries of an army camp. Those places get forgotten and one day there will be nobody left that will remember them. That's where Urban Exploration comes in.
I'm not telling you to go out and scale the wall of your nearest derelict hospital in the name of photography. It takes a certain kind of person (and agility!) to do that anyway, but there are many depths to U
Don't Go to art school!I've been seeing this around the DA journals all day, and it sounds like my kind of journal! It's written by an extremely talented environment artist named Noah Bradley. So I finally read it, and yeah, Noah is right on top of it. Check it out, and lets start the conversation about art and education in this country:Don't Go to art school!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Don't go to art school
The traditional approach is failing us. It's time for a change.
I'VE HAD IT.
I will no longer encourage aspiring artists to attend art school. I just won't do it. Unless you're given a full ride scholarship (or have parents with money to burn), attending art school is a waste of your money.
I have a diploma from the best public art school in the nation. Prior to that I attended the best private art school in the nation. I'm not some flaky, disgruntled art graduate, either. I have a quite successful career, thankyouverymuch.
But I am s

I ask that all my commissioners read this and agree with my terms before commissioning me.
These are the starting prices with examples of each different type of commission. If your commission is larger and more complex, it will cost more; likewise, if it is very small and considerably simpler than the examples I show here I will work with you to price it lower than the stated price.
To have a background added or have your art done on special patterned paper costs extra. Please let me know if you need either of these things done and I will arrange it with you.

BRUSHESI was asked a couple of time what kind of brushes I use…BRUSHES2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Well - basically I have a lot, but just a few that I really use for everything.
So here we go with my so called "main_brush_set".
Those brushes are my all time favorites and used pretty much on a daly base.
A few brushes are from the web and some a selfmade or self tweaked.
Hope you have the same fun as I have using those brushes.
The brushes could be found on my Blog (http://malosart.blogspot.de/)

Using Colloquialisms: Are you down with it? Colloqualism: You down with it?Using Colloquialisms: Are you down with it?1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
A word or phrase that is not formal or literary and is used in ordinary or familiar conversation. synonyms: slang, idioms, patois, dialect.
Examples: whatcha, gotta, face on, ovver.
I’m sure you’ve had a good telling off by your teachers for using colloquial language inappropriately in your writing. I’ve had essays returned with the word “too informal” scrawled along the margin or a big red exclamation mark next to a certain word, who hasn’t? What just me? Oh right… my bad!
So WHY would we use colloquial language in our writing, after years of tackling the angry red pen?
I know we’re not supposed to judge a book by its over – or a person by their accent – but it happens. You can tell us a lot about a character by the kind of language they use. Are they all gangsta, dropping hooded verbs

Structuring a Story: Linear VS Non-LinearStructuring a Story: Linear VS Non-LinearStructuring a Story: Linear VS Non-Linear1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Thanks to everyone who took part in last week's workshop! <3
I'm looking for people to help run workshops (more detail at bottom).
So now that we’ve talked about how to kick start our imagination, we now need to start putting those ideas on paper. I was going to do an article on planning Project Educate’s story planning week was not long ago. There’s a roundup of PE’s story planning week here: http://beccalicious.deviantart.com/journal/PE-Story-Planning-Round-up-378695534
I recommend it; it’s very useful and interesting.
So now onto structure.
I like to split structure up into two categories: linear structure and non-linear structure (simple, eh?). Linear being when the events of the story happen in chronological order eg Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
Non-linear allows for detailed or in-depth flash backs, or may start at the end of a story, or even the middle of a story, and hav
