Tales of the N64Hello Ryceballs, its been a long time since I actually drew something or written something for Deviantart, mostly because of travelling to conventions and work, if you haven't guessed it by now I actually draw for a living. BUT IM BACK FOR A BIT NOW, with more stories to entertain you delicious people! This time Im gonna talk about the classic Nintendo 64, one of my favourite consoles of all time.
This is a picture of me when I was playing the N64 back in the day. So why do I wanna talk about the 64 out of all the consoles? Well mostly because I have been trashing Nintendo so much lately about their decisions in the gaming industry that I thought I should talk about something more positive about Nintendo when they were at their prime. ALSO because I have so many good memories with this console! Without further ado, THIS is how it all began.. it started with my dad coming home from work one day and showing me a newspaper article with a competition on it, it was sponsored by Toyota and i

1.GOTA BE A FAN BEFORE DOING FAN ART FOR SOMETHING
Yup, I have not seen One Piece or Bleach so I will not do fan art for them, Im sure they are great anime as people has told me, but I just haven't gotten around to watch it thats all. So yes for me, I gota be a fan before doing fan art for something. Otherwise it kinda takes away wat the true meaning of what fan art is right? But yes I do know some people who draws fan art of whats popular rather than what they like, I remember one time I was walking in the artist alley and saw an artist who did an artwork of a fandom that I like, so I spoke to them about the series and realised the person has not played the game or know anything about it, but just drew it because
Symbol(s) for the non Premium DeviantsHello my Ryceballs. So eversince DA's recent symbol changes, I have been hearing a lot of complaints. Mostly about how regular non premium members don't even get a symbol. It makes them feel like they are not important. Its ok I hear ya I hear ya. And you know me, I am all about the people. Ry-Spirit cares. So I thought about this a lot and try to think of an appropriate symbol that best suits our non premium friends, at the end I came up with a symbol... WELL I say a symbol but its more like a string of symbols. I feel like this is the only option for it to work. And I have used myself as an example of what the symbols would look like if I am in fact a regular deviant. Ok please look below.Symbol(s) for the non Premium Deviants2 years ago in Personal More Like This
You may need to right click and view the image to see the whole thing. Now what does it mean? I will tell you. It stands for "Sad because no money therefore no premium membership and seems like Im not considered an artist argh *swears*.. Sigh.. oh well.. I have an idea, look I'll continue to
Questioned by the Hong Kong PoliceSo where was I? Oh yes I was gonna talk about my experiences with the Hong Kong police, so here goes. OK this is the problem, whenever I visit Hong Kong I always have the fear of being questioned by the police, well not exactly fear because I've got nothing to hide, but whenever I am alone walking on the street and a policeman on patrol sees me, they would ALWAYS 100% stop and ask for my ID. For those ain't familiar with how things work in Hong Kong is that if they see a teenager (Especially male) on the street not in their school uniform during school time or with dyed hair or pretty much just 'gangster' or suspicious looking, they have the right to stop you in the middle of nowhere and question you. Now I match every bit of suspicion possible, what they are trying to check is if there's any sort of crime around the area so they can narrow down the suspects, or to check whether you are legal to be in Hong Kong, or whether you've got drugs on you. FML. The Super Mario Galaxy StoryYou guys like story yeah? Let uncle Ry tell you a story, there's a lesson to learn here kids. Pay attention. I wanna talk about this now because last week was my birthday and it reminded me of this story, its related to a birthday gift. The gift was Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii. This story happened a few years ago.FML. The Super Mario Galaxy Story1 year ago in Personal More Like This
This is a picture of me playing the Nintendo Wii, I love my Wii. Had lots of great times on it playing games like Smash Brothers and Mario Kart and Twilight Princess, and a game I really loved called Super Mario Galaxy. The story takes place around 2009? A couple of years after the Wii came out. So one day a friend of mine Matt messaged me telling me he got a Wii, I thought great, about time he got a Wii. So I congratulated him, then he asked the question. :I He asked whether he can borrow some games and I was like 'HMMMMMMMM SHIT'. Well Matt is a nice guy, pretty honest and pretty generous. I usually am pretty generous too but when it comes to games, I hate lending it out
If I lost an armMy good people of Deviantart. It is me again Chicken breasts mixed with vegetable poured with a delicious yet spicy Indian curry on Ryce, here with another thought provoking yet useless journal entry. What happened was earlier this week my tablet pen's been going crazy, because the nib on the tip of my tablet pen has worn off. I do use the tablet a lot.... Like every single day, so over time naturally you would need to replace the nib. But being me, I just always forget to buy it.. Every time the pen becomes non responsive I would smack it like a disobedient bitch until it works again. Well guess what.. it reached a point where I need to smack it once every minute. You wouldn't believe the pain I went through with the Valentine's day picture, what could've been a 3 hours artwork ended by being 6 hours. At the end the pen was finally dead, I could hardly see the nib anymore. By the way a nib is like a long plastic that acts as the tip of your pen ok...? Art is my Sword and ShieldHi Ryceballs! This is a photo of me when I was at school. I wasn't the best looking fella and wasn't very smart either, all I did was play Pokemon and daydream, actually I was pretty much setting myself up for great humiliation and constant bullying with what I do lol. But one thing kept my head above water, I used to draw... a LOT. I used to draw in my little pink diary as well as even drawing in my homework. I just really loved.. to draw. And you know what? I gained a lot of respect for that. I wasn't one of those popular kids at school but I actually got along with ALL the stereotype groups, I got along with the popular guys, the nerds, the hot girls, the Hongkies, the Korean breakdancers, the wannabe gangsters, I even got alo

Ok that sentence made no sense. But below are a few girls that I guess I can consider as my waifus... if I have to pick any. HMM this topic started when I was talking to the Rainbros (Members of my Pokemon Rainbow group) about whether I name my Pokemon after anything, and I told them I like to have a consistent theme for each game when it comes to names. For Pokemon Black and White 2 I named my Pokemon after K-pop idols, for another Pokemon game I named my Pokemon after movie stars that I liked, and one time I gave all my Pokemon food related names. I remember for my first ever Pokemon game 1000 years ago I used to give my Pokemon dirty names (As you do), popular ones include Psyf*ck, Pikapoo, SlowpokeHer, Dicklett, Butterpee... yes I was a messed up child. It doesn't feel that long - but in a few more years I'll have been on this site for half my life. Sheesh!
I've improved so much having an audience to show work to, even if the point of the work wasn't an audience - just having a platform from which I could do anything at all has been really amazing for me over the years.
And then... PMD-e... which has been a really tremendous learning experience for me (and others!), in so many ways. I don't want to turn this journal sappy or anything, but I've been lucky to have met so many people and have gotten the chance to help create a community with its ups and downs.
And... speaking of such...
I'll be making a journal later about the state of PMD-e right now - I know the updates have been sporadic, and this has been for a few reasons. I've been thinking about how to word things for a few days now, and I don't think I've quite gotten it yet.
Anyway, for those of you who've been around since
Premium Content and how I feel about making moneyHalloPremium Content and how I feel about making money3 years ago in Personal More Like This
There's a new feature called premium content that allows users to make file downloads available for a charge. This seems to be something with a vast range of different possibilities that range from quite nice to to quite lame. Of course we are all always against commercialization and sell-outs and everything and don't want things to change but there are some interesting options here.
Obviously everyone is going to know whether or not this is something he or she could use and how much sense it's going to make for what you do specifically but there's two points I want to adress.
I always thought it was lame when people sell stuff like brushes or psd files. This is probably just my personal opinion and many will certainly disagree for valid reasons, but I think, if you make some brushes, and you ask money for something as tiny as that, you are lame. Sorry. Actually, the point here is not that it will kill someone to pay like one buck for something tiny, it's just that it change

The latest graphic tablets (now affordable for most anyone,) matched with the latest high-definition screens (displaying billions of colors,) connected to the latest computers (whose size are measured in inches and not feet,) all to render work near instantaneously. It's hard to imagine that with what we have today, publishers and artists were using these same types of devices as much as 40 years ago to set type, scan images, or even draw pictures.
So if you were an artist in the late 1970's, what would it have been like?
Well, click here (or above) to watch a video to get a bit of an idea.
If that's anything to go by, straight-up drawing was still a little out of reach. But you could scan drawings, save them, view them on a screen, scale them,
EXPERIMENT RESULT (HOW TO GET POPULAR ON DA)So for the last couple of days iw been researching a couple of things regarding popularity on da, and what people likes, and watches you for. And id like to publish the result.EXPERIMENT RESULT (HOW TO GET POPULAR ON DA)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Just so you know, getting popular on da don't really help you improve ur art skills wish to me is the most important thing of all.
First of all, i hawe to tell you that i named submissions after the style i used, for example:
Submission 1A here and submission 1D
The 1A style is Thin line-arted with colorful shadows, and 1D is semi realism.
The 1A style allowed me to produce more art a day (since it takes less time to produce).
I submited around 2 a day and gained 8 watchers a day. But not much comments and favs. Since The 1A submissions where so close in date, my watchers could not comment on all of em.
But the styleA FAN ART got much more attention.
Fan art gets more attention since they often have huge fan bases. So when people

Critical Assessment and Aftermath of Art SchoolCritical Assessment and Aftermath of Art School2 years ago in Personal More Like This
This is an updated account on how things are going years after having left art school, the effects it's had on me, and my personal thoughts on attending. My views here aren't wholly different than the few rants I've had on the subject in the past, but it's one I believe I have to continue talking about to assist others in making the right decisions for themselves and their future path. (I should also mention that this is the viewpoint of an american in America.)
It's become increasingly clear to me over the last year that out of my 25 years on this Earth, there's only one decision I ever truly regret: and that was going to art school. Now, there's a good chance that I may not be saying this had I attended a different school, but there's no way to ever know, so what I'm really saying is "I regret going to the school I chose, not school in general." I feel as though I was let down by my school. I held up my end of the bargain (some $80~$90

I've noticed a trend- most of them are hosted by GoDaddy. So apparently GoDaddy doesn't look at what they host before putting it up. I'll be writing them a long ass letter.
I have all the information from my defeat of AxSoris saved so that I can more quickly take on similar sites or attempted returns. Some will be easy to take on, others not so much. But I won't give up.
Since I am apparently going to be doing more of these, please watch so that you will see my journals, and I'll make a group for this as well. SPREAD THE WORD. This is important shit man.

Guys, guys, guysChildren, there's no reason to get upset about a dumb little thing like someone tracing/referencing your art. Everyone does it, whether it be for practice or cause they liked the pose or whatever. Even my own sketchbooks are chock full of art that I've referenced from other people. I'm not gonna go around posting it as if it were something I came up with myself, but even if I wanted to, would anyone be able to stop me?Guys, guys, guys2 years ago in Personal More Like This
And you know why? Because you can't copyright poses something like poses. Not only is that an absolutely ridiculous concept to begin with, but you have to realize that with thousands and thousands of years of artists, there isn't going to be a single pose out there that someone hasn't already drawn a character in. No matter how original you think your picture is, pose-wise, I can guarantee you that someone out there has already drawn the same exact thing. Now, I'm not advocating tracing someone's art and claiming it as something that you came up wi
