Internet Etiquette (Edited with critique advice)Some people brought up some pretty important points, so I've added some additional information about critiques below!Internet Etiquette (Edited with critique advice)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Something that's been bugging me a bit lately is how the DA community has sorta changed over the years (and not in a good way). People are more bold and will post whatever's on their mind, and while that can be a good thing in some scenarios, I feel that people oftentimes say things that they might not realize will hurt someone's feelings.
I generally get a lot of positive feedback, and it really helps! It's always great to know that someone likes my work, and it keeps me motivated to keep going with this hobby. However, I'm still a human being, and negative criticism can hurt me just as much as anyone else. I'm not sure what it is, but the amount of really negative comments has increased these past couple years, and it really discourages me from even using this website anymore. Many times I've considered just disabling comments entirely, but I feel that would

Many, many months ago last July (that's how late this entry is) a cosplay event was held in the most beautiful location that the local cosplay community has ever seen. Fernbrook Gardens the wedding & events destination which you might recognize from our Kuroshitsuji http://behindinfinity.deviantart.com/gallery/29228688 and Harry Potter cosplay photoshoots http://behindinfinity.deviantart.com/gallery/31767781
It was around that time that the world was getting ready for the final Harry Potter movie, so my friends and I decided that perhaps it was about time to push through with our plans to cosplay Harry Potter characters. Parts of Fernbrook Gardens also looked like Hogwarts so we figured it would be appropriate.
Photos are from my friends, some from albums I was tagged in on Facebook, and some from my own camera.
Here I am with most of my friends that I went to the event with, along with Arnel akagii2004 whom we met that day as he was

Aaaaand home againBack from another amazing Metrocon... possibly my favourite so far! Huge thankyou hugs to everyone who came out to see us, gave us gifts, and generally made the event spectacular for us. After all the stresses we'd been through during the first half of the year, this was a much-needed break, and you guys made it awesome for us!Aaaaand home again4 years ago in Personal More Like This
For those who weren't at the convention, and missed the announcement of our new show.... it's Avengers 8D There are a few clips that people have posted on YouTube of us as our Avengers characters.... and guess who's Tony Stark 8D
Think Friends meets The Avengers, and you've got a good idea of what the show will be like.
For now, I'm gonna try and get my sleeping pattern back into sync with UK time, and will catch up on all my messages soon. ^_^
Two new videos! Photoshop's 'Blend if' feature!Hey everyone, I made a couple of new tutorials that are now up on YouTube! They explain Photoshop's "Blend If" sliders and why you should be using them if you aren't already. They're kind of a hidden feature, but they'll make your life a million times easier. Enjoy! Two new videos! Photoshop's 'Blend if' feature!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Download my brushset and learn brush groupingHey everyone, I just put up a new video showing a simple, yet super handy way to categorize and group your brushes in Photoshop. It's especially useful if you have a really big set like me, it makes it really easy to find what you need so you don't have to hunt around constantly. I've also provided a download link to my current set of brushes with the video.Download my brushset and learn brush grouping2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Hope you find the video and brushes useful! I'll upload my set here to deviantART at a later date, so in the mean time, if you wanna grab them, hit the video

It's been a bit of a mental start to 2013, with Jenn getting a new job, a bunch of birthdays and events, and a lack of money forever looming overhead!
I've mostly been busy working on my costume and kit for a new LARP system I'm joining next month, so when I have some good pictures of that, I'll share them here. It's not often I will share pictures of my original characters on deviantART (in fact, I don't think I've ever done it), but I'm really proud of the kit for this. A bunch of Parlé are all joining the same system, so hopefully we can get a few good shots before time in!
Here's a preview of the costume, for those interested...
On the con-front, things are less busy than usual, due to clashing events, and one or two that we usually attend for fun that we're opting out of this year. We did London Anime Con at the start of the month, which was a fantastic event. Still t
Stupid Parents. I saved a life.Parents...are you listening? No? Well sit down and pay attention. PAY. ATTENTION. TO. YOUR. KIDS. I swear, parents should be forced to pass some sort of competency test before they're allowed to procreate. I'm not usually one to rant, but today I saw a parent being stupid - and luckily for her - I was paying more attention to her kid than she was, because I saved his 2 year old life. So here's the story: I was sitting around at McDonald's, eating a quick dinner because I am wayyyyy too tired lately (I fell asleep at 6 pm yesterday... seriously.. for an insomniac, that's unheard of) due to illness to bother with cooking. Anyways - there were these two Army women sitting at this little table with a 2-year old still-in-pampers little boy with them. They were gabbing it up - letting this little kid roam all over the place. I first noticed him when he was opening the cupboards under the condiment stand, messing with all the little under-the-counter stuff thaStupid Parents. Some art/webcomic adviceI got this really thoughtful question on my tumblr a week or two ago in regards to art/webcomics:Some art/webcomic advice1 year ago in Personal More Like This
"Hello K-bo, I Have been aspiring to be a webcomic artist much like yourself for a long time. Viewing your artwork and your achievements inspire me to reach out for my dreams. I wasn't able to see you at Fan Expo this year so I wasn't able to ask you this in person. I feel like I'm at a point where I'm comfortable enough with my art and style to start a webcomic... but I have no idea where to start... Do you have any advice? Thank you!"
I wanted to share my answer with you guys since it might be relevant to your interests. I hope at least some of it is useful to you. Here goes...
"First off, that’s awesome and I’m honored to have inspired you in any way. You should be very proud of yourself for being ready and willing to start this journey.

Shoulder Pony Release DateI promised that today I'd announce a date for the release of the Beanie Shoulder Pony, so here we go...Shoulder Pony Release Date3 years ago in Personal More Like This
The Beanie Shoulder Pony Pattern is going to be available for purchase in my Etsy shop on February 7th. So if you're thinking of getting a gift for your extra-special-somepony for Hearts and Hooves day this year, you'll have another option.
There are going to be a male and female heads for this pattern as well as wings and a unicorn horn. There will probably be two or three mane and tail sets, depending on how many I finish while I'm working on the example ponies. I've already drafted the pieces you'll need for putting magnets in the pony to secure them to your shoulder, and those will be included as well.
I love how simple the Shoulder Pony pattern is. I've streamlined some of the pieces and removed a few steps that can get a bit tedious (like sewing the bottoms of the hooves on). They're faster to sew and it takes less of

Shit man, and this fur is just for the lower arms and digigrade legs of the next suit I am working on... and this may not even be enough fur for the job.
$73.17 does not even buy enough fur for this entire project, let a lone the cost of the foam, stuffing, thread, eyeblanks (I buy the super nice acrylic ones... the super nice expensive acrylic ones) clay, glue, zipper, etc (and this one has airbrushing, horns, hooves and a mane of hair too)
And then there are start up costs like a glue gun, storage racks, air brush unit and a sewing machine (namely the machine/airbrush, either way good ones will be $500+)
Fursuits are not cheap nor easy to produce... and they take lots of time and skill, and really the biggest thing you pay for when purchasing a good fursuit is time and skill.
Fursuits take hundreds of dollars in material and hundreds of hours in time to build, and behind each well built suit is a pers
