She could not believe what Bentley, the person she had thought was the most earnest and intelligent in this group, had just planned. Sure, they needed a distraction, something to make sure that the guards would not get in their way. The door, after all, was complex and they would need a lot of time to properly unlock.
Why, then, did the plan involve her belly-dancing? Considering what she had seen Bentley do and how he had planned many intricate things, this somehow did not feel right. She could see that perhaps someone else had influenced him somehow. Having a pretty good idea just who had carefully suggested this approach to him, the police officer wasn't at ease at all with what would soon happen.
Looking at the costume that Salim, Sly's ancestor, had brought for her, she had no idea if he had gone for a more decadent or more modest version of what consisted of a belly-dancing costume. Everything was made of thick silk of a purple colorization, with a top revea
Another Language called EnglishI took your adjectives for granted. There was something about the way you skipped over your 's'es and gleaned over your 'i's and 'e's, that never really made me want to kiss you. You'd sit there with your languid fingers clutching a book that was half finished, and read me words that were completely mispronounced. It would prickle me under my skin and I would grit my teeth, wondering when you would stop. I would never understand the english language you thought you spoke, and your confidence in your own words annoyed me.Another Language called English1 year ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
It was comical when you spoke in front of our friends. Your mistaken pronunciation of the word 'pronunciation' in particular made them giggle. I would stand in a corner, clutching a glass of rum and coke and cringe, flushing in second hand embarrassment. You would smile at me from across the room, and continue with your tangled tongue as though nothing was wrong.
I felt sorry for you. But not sorry enough when you took your favourite writing pen from my d

The luxurious snobbery of the shopping malls, the isolation of man amidst the plethora of perfect consumption objects and man becoming a perfectable consumption object full-time himself, the generalized and collectively enjoyed stupidity and childishness of television and consumption, the total apathetic immersion in spectacle, the wildgrowth of screens, the triumph of surface over depth (Baudrillard), the superficial appearance of happiness projected worldwide on all screens by the American "stars:" I am fascinated by these phenomena.
Today we believe wholeheartedly in the meaningfulness of communication, while the cult of the screen offers only a collection of seductive nonsense. The same holds true for the art of our time (and possibly of all times): art is experimental spectacle which only make

'You're a Christian, aren't you, son?
'Yes sir,' the student says.
'So you believe in God?'
'Is God good?'
'Sure! God's good.'
'Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?'
'Are you good or evil?'
'The Bible says I'm evil.'
The professor grins knowingly. 'Aha! The Bible!'
He considers for a moment, 'Here's one for you. Let's say there's a sick person over here and you can cure him. You can do it. Would you help him? Would you try?'
'Yes sir, I would.'
'So you're good!'
'I wouldn't say that.'
'But why not say that? You'd help a sick and maimed person if you could. Most of us would if we could. But God doesn't.'
The student does not answer, so the professor continues.
'He doesn't, does he? My brother was a Christian who died of cancer, even though he prayed to Jesus to heal him. How is this Jesus good? Hmmm?

Beyond Good and Evil novel 2Jade dug into her thoughts for the years of higher conscious meditation she'd undertaken. Most of the teachings were aimed at relaxation and encouraged its followers to embrace and confront their emotional responses, but there were also lessons for quelling emotions and allowing logic and instinct to guide a disciple's actions when need called for it. Jade directed her thoughts in the way her teachings had instructed and felt energy and strength flowing through her to wash away her fear and concern.Beyond Good and Evil novel 24 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
She felt herself become ready for combat.
Jade snatched a long wooden stick from the ground, one end a burning, spitting ember. The girl rushed the DomZ holding Fehn, braced the stick as an extension of her elbow, and thrashed at the mobile coffin. It took two blows before slithering away. Jade meant to follow, but in those few seconds the other two DomZ had flanked her. She turned to the one on her left, knocking its reaching arms aside with a right and left swing of her makeshift weapon.

I dare you to read this all the way through. You’ll get a prize at the end. I promise. Just read this all the way through. You don’t need to be embarrassed! It’s just you and me here, and I won’t make fun of you – I swear. Trust me, I’m in no position to be doing that.
Can I start?
Okay, I’m going to.
I’m going to start by saying that you are [Full Name]. You are, and there’s nothing you can do about it. You are [Full Name], and there’s not another [Full Name] on anywhere else.
Don’t take that literally.
Of course, there are probably tons of people with the same first name, maybe a handful of people with the same full name. However, those [Full Name] s, are not the same [Full Name] as you. The [Nick Name] – is it alright if I call you that? Or rather the [Preferred Alias] reading this, is different from, may

The Phineas and Ferb TheoryHere it is, the Phineas and Ferb Theory:The Phineas and Ferb Theory3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
The events taking place in the show are all the delusions of a group of kids in a children's psychiatric facility.
That's why the parents never see anything and why everything is so easy to do in that world. In reality, Phineas and Ferb's inventions are made of toys. The reason nobody ever gets hurt on anything is because (since they're locked up) the toys their inventions are made from are childproof to prevent their use as a weapon. The reason they "disappear" at the end of every day around the same time is because they have scheduled time to play with them.
The reason the parents go away so often during the episodes is because, while they visit as often as possible, they aren't allowed to be with their children all day. The kid's minds make the grocery excuse to explain why the adults are so often absent.
Phineas is Schitzophrenic and detached from reality. He's so happy all the time because of the mood stabilizer's he has to ta

She laughed. "Of course not," She said, "It is real." She told them.
"It is real." She told herself, stroking the cat in her lap. The cat never purred, nor meowed, nor hissed. Never. It made not a single sound. Even as it leapt from red rooftop to rooftop on sunny days, one would not hear the patter on the shingles. It seemed ghostly, yet tangible. And tangible is what she had decided it was.
The shadows shifted. They surrounded her in the small room. Almost, it seemed, suffocating her. But they were kept back, back against the walls of her confinement. It was dark, save for a slight crack in the wall where a light shone through. It played upon her eyes, and she turned her head to let her hair fall to obscure it. Had the crack been any bigger, she decided, the light would be blinding.
"You need to let go." They said.
She kept stroking the cat. "There's nothing to let go of." A pause, and then she looked up suddenly, and grinned. "U

I found myself floating, drifting high above the battlefield. My feet touched something that felt like an invisible glass floor, and soon I found that I was able to stand on it. It took awhile to get over my fear of heights, but once I did; I opened my eyes and just, watched, as the entire world carried on.
Funnily enough, I didn't feel much of anything at the time. I guess they tend to play it up in the movies. They always show that people remain angry, that people have feelings of wanting to do something or to accomplish something. But once you're gone, you don't actually feel much of that.
Instead, I remember being calm. I was very calm after that final moment. I would poke my head every now and again, thinking that the skin would feel raw, but other than that; I was alright. I

Maka's point of view
I ran and ran though the deserved streets of Death city in hope that I wasn't too late. I begged for my dear life that my friends was still okay. I made a quick turn to the left and there I saw them. I saw my beloved friend laying on the ground dead, Tsubaki,.. Black*star,.. Kid,... Patty,... and Liz, They laid there all covered in blood.
I felt over tears started to cover by eyes, my legs gave in and I screamed a horrifying scream.
It was now the anniversary when my friends was brutally murdered. I sat at the graveyard that I always did before school. They used to say to me, how I always came in the last second before the class started, But that all changed when they died,
I'm now a top student and did my homework and never had one single wrong on tests.

"Ah! Maka-chan! Liz-chan!" Tsubaki cried in horror. She turned to Patty, "P-Patty! What are we supposed to do?" Her eyes were filled with worry. It was actually hard to believe people weren't staring at them.
Patty shrugged and laughed. Tsubaki didn't know what to do, she couldn't decide if she should leave them there or ask for help. The tension was too much for Tsubaki, she slowly became dizzy and her body slowly fell to the ground.
"And then there was two!" Patty giggled.
An hour later, still, no one dared to notice.
Patty was still playing with the paper and yellow crayon and Soul finally regained consciousness and raised his head from the table.
"Ugh. . . What happened?" Soul rubbed his head a little. His eyes slowly opened and as soon as he caught his eyes on Tsubaki and Liz totally passed out of the ground, they widened to their maximum

I teetered nervously as I stood in the entrance to Soul and Maka's apartment. I had finally had enough courage to ask Crona out and what happens? Everyone butts in! After I decided on asking her, Liz and Patty just HAD to tell Maka, who told Soul who, along with Black*Star, made fun of me every time I saw them. Luckily, no one had told Crona. When I finally called her to ask her out, I imagined her blushing on the other side of the phone while Maka giggled in the background. What I got was Ragnarok interrupting every other word I was saying so I ended up just walking straight up to Crona and asking her in person, of course, I was extremely embarrassed.
Honestly, when Kid asked me out on a date I was really happy. I like all my friends, but I like Maka and Kid the most. As I stood in Maka's bedroom, I couldn't help but smile at the thought of me being alone with Kid. "Here, try this on," Maka said handing me a light pink dress. I put it on, but I didn't like it.
