Blog of 2012Happy new year or whatever!Blog of 20123 years ago in Personal More Like This
As I usually do, I'm gonna have a look through my old journals and list the highlights of the year for me:
• I became a political activist for a few months, and went to some anti ACTA protests! Not many people showed up in Scotland though. I've kinda lost interest in all of that stuff now, since I'm not a student anymore.
• Went to see Dropkick Murphys. I should go to more gigs.
• Got interested in upcoming technologies like 3D printing, synthetic biology, Mars missions etc, and the idea of a technological Singularity. Still reading a lot of popular science books.
• Some notable games I've played this year: Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Zelda: Minish Cap, Rayman Origins, Fez, Dodonpachi Resurrection, Torchlight, Titan Quest, Kirby: Knightmare in Dreamland, Magicka, World of Goo, Binding of Isaac, Terraria, a ton of Minecraft, and probably a bunch of others which I forgot.
• Graduated from University with an Honors in Computing Science! My f

Mad Max femdom explainedIf you look up Furiosa/Max fanfiction you'll notice every single one has femdom in it. It's seen as such an essential part of their relationship that people don't even bother to mention the femdom in the description. It's expected to be there.Mad Max femdom explained2 months ago in Personal More Like This
In my last journal when I said Max and Furiosa's relationship was very femdom'y a lot of men (and only men) complained and said "No it's not! They're equals! How is that femdom!?" And that's exactly it. They are equals, and that's what makes it femdom instead of boss and subordinate.
It's important to understand that there's a very big difference between femdom and feminism.
Feminism is about equal rights and respect between men and women. Women are seen as weaker and "lower" which is why it's called feminism instead of equalism. Feminists do not wish to drag men down to the level they're at in society now, they wish to come up to the level men are at.
Femdom is a personal relationship between two (or more) people who have all agreed

The Hunger Games: An Accidental Statement of Protest?
Catching fire by Kris-Kamikakushi
In Bangkok, Thailand, students are being arrested for raising their hands in the air to flash Katniss’ three–finger “freedom” salute.
That’s right, the Katniss who’s the fictional heroine of the popular dystopian sci–fi “Hunger Games” movie series. The world has changed over the last few decades in a very big way, but some are apparently unaware of it or undisturbed by the stunning ramifications.
Foreign Words the English Language NeedsOh hello. I’m finally getting around to making this news article that I said I might do, like, a month ago. Sorry, I’m not used to writing news articles. Bear with me.Foreign Words the English Language Needs3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Back in August, I started a series in my forums for cool foreign words. It went over extremely well and numerous people requested that I combine them into a handy-dandy news article for deviantART at large to enjoy. So, here you are: fifteen foreign words that the English language needs to
What it means: A feeling of longing associated with displacement, but not necessarily displacement from one’s original home. An intense yearning to be somewhere you are not. Hiraeth also expresses a sort of ache or longing for something of the past, somewhat similar to the notion of "golden" or "good old days," but with more ancient connotations.
Why it needs to be a thing in English: I speak as someone from a country

Of Voyages of Destiny: and Fish Fries
As kids, we could never understand why rich people would hang boring paintings of ships side-by-side with their portraits of beloved dead ancestors.
We didn’t understand this was not an admiration of the boat, not like the Porsche poster in my brother’s bedroom. This was about the valor of The Voyage, the courage to carry the family treasure across an ocean to begin a new life in a new land. A problem at sea meant a ho
Tell me I'm Pretty!Well, I guess I have nothing else better to do, since I'm waiting for confirmation on a piece to post.Tell me I'm Pretty!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
So, a few days ago, if that is the correct time period at the time I'm making this, I was tagged in something called the Tell me I'm Pretty meme. Basically, the rules of the meme ask that the user tags other deviants (at least 5, but can go beyond) and compliments them on... well... whatever. I already kind of do this, but in some way, I still don't feel as though it's enough, so perhaps it's time I do this.
Oh, by the way, this was originally created by: :iconbramblefur12: just in case you're curious. And, I'm by no way forcing you to do this meme too, but, by the rules of the creator, it is requested. Again, not forcing you! I'm not trying to guilt trip you either! Put your pitchforks down!
Without further ado, here goes nothing.
:iconhunterN05:: What can I say about you buddy? You have literally favorited and commented on almost every single piece I have made. That's dedication man
The Call of Cthulhu (for beginning readers)Howdy friends,The Call of Cthulhu (for beginning readers)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
There has been an exciting development!
A couple of months ago, the folks at Chaosium Inc. [ http://www.chaosium.com/ ], the publishers of the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game, confirmed their desire to publish The Call of Cthulhu (for beginning readers). When I received word I immediately began revising the now almost two-year-old text and illustrations to ensure that the print version is of the highest possible quality. I am currently about a third of the way through this process, and thought it would be good time to let you all know that the oft-requested dead tree edition of this story looks like it is actually becoming a reality.
I continue to be grateful for the encouragement of the folks around here, and I look forward to updating you all with any further news as it arrives.
In the meantime, I'm posting up the pages of The Statement of Randolph Carter (for beginning readers) I was working on when the word came through from Ch

The Climate Denialist Plea for InactionThe Climate Denialist Plea for Inaction5 months ago in Personal More Like This
As they tend to do from time to time in an effort to distract from the climate science consensus, a group of scientists who are also climate "skeptics" have published an opinion-editorial (op-ed), trying to make the case against taking action to address climate change. As usual, the article is little more than a regurgitation of a number of climate myths we have debunked at Skeptical Science.
The signatories of this newest letter are also worth noting for their lack of noteworthiness. Although the climate denialist blogs have labeled them "luminaries" and "

T he Deviousness Award, bestowed in recognition of exemplary membership and an outstanding spirit of helpfulness and mentoring within the DeviantArt community, has recently undergone a reevaluation to provide a focus and a re-definition as to just what Deviousness truly represents.
The award is given once per month to honor a deviant who has gone above and beyond in their services to the DeviantArt Community. The 189 recipients of the Award thus far have brought something to the community that was not there before their presence, and it's our duty — and honor — to publicly recognize their efforts in doing so.

8 Lies Told by Climate Change Deniers Debunked by Real Climate Scientists
With the news that the west Antarctic ice sheet is not only melting, but that melting is unstoppable, the climate change deniers are out in full force on the forums and the comment threads, wheeling out tired lie after tired lie, and are bellowing louder and slowing progress even more in the halls of legislation. While these deniers have a number of fall back lies, there seems to be eight perennial lies that keep cropping up.

Having been thinking a lot about the origins of our globally held Dragon mythos in a recent article Reptilicus Infernicus, I couldn’t help but notice the Cthulhu legend was always lurking at the edges of my mind as I was researching the subject matter.
The Enemy at the Gates, the “Other”, forever lurking in the darkness and plotting an invasion most evil and an enslavement most hideous, is probably the original seminal “narrative” that was born when humans first acq
