Challenge 6: Improve it and Show itAlright Otakus! Last month we focused on trying a new skill, this month we want to focus on your skill in art! Whether it be drawing, painting, sculpting, or something else entirely. So here's this month's challenge!
Do a "draw this again" deviation: http://browse.deviantart.com/art/Meme-Before-and-After-177759508
Do a "draw this again" and spend a whole page (8x11) just sketching something you personally need more practice with (hands, feet, eyes, hair, etc)
Do a "draw this again". Also sketch something everyday and compile all your drawings into one giant deviation.
Submit your deviations to this folder: http://christianotakus.deviantart.com/gallery/41930888 (Limit 3 per person)

Shout It Out - How are we called? As Christians, I believe we have a higher calling to be light to the world, to be role models. And not so that we can be prideful or judge others, but to glorify God. (Matt 5:16)Shout It Out - How are we called?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
We are Christians because we have faith in Jesus Christ, but the Bible tells us that faith by itself, faith that is not acted out, is dead. (James 2:17-18)
I know life can get pretty crazy, but we should be encouraging each other to be the absolute best we can be. Other people should want what we've got going on. I've been thinking about this for a bit, so I got a couple points where I feel like us as Christians are falling short and can really step up our game.
And please, I encourage you to comment and give feedback. Where are you personally struggling? What advice do you have for combating some of these issues. Share with the group.
#1 : Intellectually
This may mean simply being a good student at school or studying up on a subject by yourself. We obviously have access to the internet, which gi
Challenge 1: Clean Media, Clean MindWelcome to the first 30 day challenge! This month’s challenge is:Challenge 1: Clean Media, Clean Mind2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Clean Media, Clean Mind
You’ve heard “you are what you eat” and it applies to more than just food. So the challenge is to clean up what sites you visit, videos you watch, and music you listen to. After the month is over, tell us via picture or journal how changing what you consume, has changed how you think, speak, and act. Things to cut out of your media diet: sex, drugs, drinking, swearing, occult, and violence.
These challenges will be harder for some than others, so I’ve included three levels of commitment.
Level 1: baby steps
Cut out media that is blatantly sinful. I’m talking porn, violent movies, songs that swear every other word, etc. If it’s too hard to hold off for 30 days, consider how that itself is a problem. Are you making media an idol? Talk to a trust friend about it or a fellow group member. Also consider listening to a positive radio station:

This morning a shooting spree occurred at a Connecticut elementary school. Reports are still coming in, but at this point 27 people have been confirmed dead, 18 of which are children. The majority of the children killed were kindergardeners. It's said that the teachers evacuated the children by having them hold onto each other in a line and closing their eyes so they wouldn't see.
This is the second worst mass shooting in the US to date, the first of which occurred at Virginia Tech in 2007
The full story can be see here: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-connecticut-school-shooting-20121214,0,4678476.story
Please please PLEASE pray for these children, teachers, and families. This is a horrendous situation and will be all the more difficult for those who have lost loved ones as Christmas approaches in less than two weeks. There will be many unopened gifts under the tree this season

A couple of weeks ago my mom was detected a strange tumor in her left breast. She's going to have a biopsy in September (yeah, peruvian national health service isn't very good at all). I'm worried about her, I wish it would not be a malignant tumor. If you could pray for her I'd be very grateful. Thank you.

Can any American--
No, can anyone really say
"God bless America"
without recognizing the irony
in speaking those words
as we live in a nation
that applauds evil
and mistakes lawlessness for freedom?
We live in a nation
where everyone does what is right
in their own eyes,
A nation where we encourage
achieving success at any cost,
where we desire sex
with no boundaries,
where we proclaim spirituality
Welcome to the temple
of our idol named Pleasure,
and like a whore she enters
our hearts through our pockets.
We stuff our faces with that bread
to fill our bellies instead of our souls,
We drink our fill of wine to get drunk
and forget His bloodshed on the cross.
"America, America, God shed His grace on thee"
So we can look spiritual
as we say 'Amen' every Sunday
and then laugh in Jesu

So, a little less than a year ago I hosted a Mini Contest, where the participants were to design a Mary-Sue character.
I really, really enjoyed it last time, and since it's a new year and everything I thought "why the heck not" and well, here I am again! xD
It's another design themed contest, only this time around it's an outfit design contest! Yaaay~
The objective is obvious; design one (or maybe two //eyebrow wriggle) new outfit(s) for one of my OCs !
Now, compared to last time the prizes have significantly improved, which basically means
Wacom Intuos 4 and Sai: Issues resolved!Well, my issues, anyhow. < w >Wacom Intuos 4 and Sai: Issues resolved!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, some time back in... May, I think it was? I finally invested in a new tablet. After getting a defunct tablet from another company, I took the plunge and got a shiny Intuos 4. My elation and excitement was cut abruptly short when I had discovered that pen pressure wasn't working in Sai. On top of that, issues regarding lines being angular when they shouldn't be and other such similar things were present in other programs I had used. Reinstalling the drivers seemed to do no good, as every time I DID try to do it, Windows would install about three or so other drivers no matter what I tried to disable it.
Well, I'm happy to say that I've finally found a way around that. :'D Thank you random Google search result that taught me the ways of your people! T w T
I am almost absolutely certain that the main issue I've had with the tablet was from Window's Tablet PC Input settings. It was always getting up in my grill, me
Critical Assessment and Aftermath of Art SchoolCritical Assessment and Aftermath of Art School2 years ago in Personal More Like This
This is an updated account on how things are going years after having left art school, the effects it's had on me, and my personal thoughts on attending. My views here aren't wholly different than the few rants I've had on the subject in the past, but it's one I believe I have to continue talking about to assist others in making the right decisions for themselves and their future path. (I should also mention that this is the viewpoint of an american in America.)
It's become increasingly clear to me over the last year that out of my 25 years on this Earth, there's only one decision I ever truly regret: and that was going to art school. Now, there's a good chance that I may not be saying this had I attended a different school, but there's no way to ever know, so what I'm really saying is "I regret going to the school I chose, not school in general." I feel as though I was let down by my school. I held up my end of the bargain (some $80~$90
AttitudeOften I get asked what it takes to get into the game industry and, aside from the very obvious 'be good at what you do and know people', you have to have the right attitude to get there. It's a very tough world out there so you have to learn how to roll with the punches. You'll get good feedback, terrible feedback, smack from people you've never even heard of!Attitude1 year ago in Personal More Like This
It's all about how you handle it and how you move on. Keeping a positive attitude is not always easy but just know that everyone goes through shit times and break down every now and again.
Here was an average day for me before I got work:
11:00 get up
11:05 get breakfast
11:10 get to work
18:00 get food
18:30 back to work
03:30 stop working
It got me down at times but I knew it was all about attitude so I tried to keep positive and push through. Willpower is definitely a finite resource so dont overdo it! Take breaks, get fresh air, relax. I didnt do that enough and I really regret it.
The thing is, it's a rough path

I have officially returned.Hi there. as usual, much has happened since my last journal posting. But this time, I am back for good.I have officially returned.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
In the past year I moved to my own 1 bedroom apartment, but did not have internet outside of my phone. However, I was finally where I had wanted to be, on my own in my first apartment. My computer was giving me grief, so I left it alone. This caused me to eventually pick up a pencil and paper and began drawing traditionally again. It was a blessing in disguise. That, coupled with newfound inspirations, caused me to quit drinking quite suddenly. This resulted in also no longer engaging in the useless, life wasting, money burning activities that usually accompanied the addiction. I went further by changing my unhealthy diet as well.
However, I quickly found myself alone as many of the people I hung out with where all still about being as unproductive as possible, and so now I was no longer interesting to them. I realized sadly that where I was now, was not where I wanted to be in life

Now all the premium members can have a small widget like thing in your deviation to directly sell your contents. I know it looks cool to have that cool widget thing displayed in your deviation page. But is it really worth it? Think about it!
Perhaps you've clearly read what it says... 80% revenue shall be transferred to the the seller and rest goes to deviantART! So, why should a seller loose 20% of the revenue if he/she can sell the same content by other means and yet loose nothing? The seller might not loose but then the buyer looses if the seller doesn't.
Let me get into more details with some scenarios and example to make more sense....

Now you may be excited to sell it using the new premium content platform. Right? So, what do you do? You quote 1000pts as
