For much too long been blinded
By hopes of the divine.
And on this cruel morning
I see, despite your kindness,
That I was always yours,

*Vellez asks "What is your creative process? Do you just research and then begin drawing when you get an assignment, or do you mull it over a bit?"
Hmm it usually starts with me getting the assignment since I spend my freetime drawing other things mostly (these days at least). As soon as I know what the client wants, I leave it alone for a couple of days and wait for ideas to sprout in my head. The rest is just craftsmanship, you know, drawing the stuff and everything. The real work is done as soon as I put down the thumbnail sketch.

"I hear Pripyat is pleasant this time of year."
Sniper stood watch, just outside the old travel agency building. Aside from somehow withstanding the rest of the block collapsing around it, the shop was impressive for having reasonably preserved brochures. Captain and Pilot would often amuse themselves by planning trips to countries that no longer existed, and Engineer would gather what they discarded for kindling. Whenever Sniper grew sufficiently bored, he'd call out with something he thought was witty.
It was a bit like that, being on watch; you'd either say something funny and die knowing your sense of humour was too good for this world, or you'd say nothing and die without validating your ego.
"Actually," Engineer spoke up from the Visit Asia section, a finger tracing over dusty advertisements as he moved along the aisle, "One of the last GOOD directorate broadcasts sent out was a list of anomalies brought on by the apocalypse, and apparently Chernobyl became the least radiated pla

This was a story that was done with the awesome help of Cheesefritters.
The story takes place mid-movie, when Hiccup and Toothless are still training.
Hiccup made his way up the large hill to his house. It was a long climb, and steep too, but most of the paths on Berk were the same. After all the island was mostly one giant mountain. And the fact that he had to carry two large basket's of fish up these paths weren't that good either. He knew trying to take care of Toothless in his home would be dangerous and hard, but not this hard. Struggling up the final climb, he saw the dim light of fire form inside his house, and even heard the low rumbling of his very hungry dragon.
Pushing against the heavy door, Hiccup made his way into the house, dragging the baskets from behind him. "Toothless? You around here buddy?" he called out playfully, knowing it would be hard for the large dragon to hide anywhere.
One of Toothless's ears perked up from

When it comes to "passing" as one sex or the other, it is generally easier for 'women' to pass as 'men'. This is because the cues that signal the brain to the male sex are generally bigger, more protruding, and things that to feminise must be hidden - not enhanced.
This does not mean that it is "easier" to accomplish with makeup, people trying to do either generally fall victim to the same problem - not being able to see and understand the face on a very basic level - understanding what our instincts instruct.
This "tutorial" will focus mainly on the face, touching generally on use of clothing and binding for a "total" appearance. I will try to cover things important for part-time and full-times as well.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND - where referring to the differences in appearance, this is obviously not going to be truth for all men. Just like the concept of beauty, the difference between male and female has no exact formul

A Ghost Story
By William Cope
The three people clad in black cackled hysterically as sirens bleated from almost every direction in the distance. Brilliant crimson hues behind them mingled with the sickly mauve night sky while an inky serpent of smoke poured slithered into the atmosphere.
"Did you see the tower go?" said one of the runners. "It was like a house of cards!"
"I was worried when the second set of explosions didn't go. Must've been a faulty fuse," another said.
"It went off eventually," the third chimed in. "Probably fires caused by the first set reached the second set of bombs themselves."
"Who cares? The building would be a smoldering pile of rubble with or without the second set anyway!" laughed the first. "I can't believe we actually did it!"
"Are we close to the safe area, Roland?" asked the third.
"I think so," the first said.
"You think so?" repeated the second. "Thin

"THE TALE OF THE NIGHT-MARE"
Rain fell violently outside, the noise of its siege on the Palace walls saturating Luna's room. Cold air seeped through the windows, snaking through the ambience and sapping the lingering warmth of sunrise. The young princess had remained there for the last couple of hours, her mind deep in hateful thoughts of vengeance and retribution, Nightmare Phantom relishing the ambience in silence. The storm had come quickly and without warning, serving only to take Luna deeper into her inner darkness, effectively causing her mane to begin to wave and glitter in a shadowy version of her sister's own magnificent pink mane.
There was a knock at the door, drawing a glare from the alicorn.
"Luna, we need to talk," sounded Celestia's soft voice from behind the door, still full of authority despite its calm tone.
"Go away!" Luna snapped, angrily.
The door glowed with golden light before its lock clicked, letting the Sun Princess through. Luna immediately thre

She told me I would run out of tears
and wouldn't have them when I really needed them.
It took years,
but I finally stopped crying,
and grew out of childish things.
I traded tears for anger
and sorrow for muteness
because it is easier
to hate the world
than mourn it.
And now I sit,
I had not run out of tears.

Fusiliers Forever: Chapter 1Fusiliers Forever: Chapter 12 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
In the universe, there are an infinite number of dimensions, an infinite number of realities where people of different species go about their lives, most utterly oblivious to the fact that such an infinite number of possibilities exist. For those who do know, this knowledge is more often than not considered to be too mind-bendingly overwhelming to think about, and they do their best to ignore it, usually over a hot cup of tea.
But this story is not about any such people.
The ones in this story are completely unaware that they have lived many different lives, being reborn again and again, destined to be the best of friends, bosom buddies, two peas in a pod you get the idea. Their names are Cera and Garadun. These names were given to them when they first came into existence, and they've been stuck with them in one form or another through all their various lives. Let it not be said that Fate doesn't h

Galatea, Lyran Commonwealth
13 April 3038
It had taken twelve long days for Shearling to make the trip from Galatea's zenith jump point, and everyone was relieved to be on planet again. Even one as harsh as Galatea. Its sun was a yellow-white giant, classified F8 II, and in the planet's equatorial region the average temperature was a searing 55 Celsius. The world had a thin ozone layer, surface water of only thirty-five percent, and very little plant life. It was a desert.
Galatea was the mercenary capitol of the Inner Sphere; although these days it was losing more and more business to the Wolf's Dragoons Hiring Hall on Outreach, with fewer of the elite units coming to Galatean City. Instead it was seeing greater numbers of the down-and-out and Dispossessed trying to find work. However, despite the rising status of Outreach, Galatea was still the centre of the mercenary trade, and it was here that the Fighting Fusiliers

After a fortnight on Galatea, Garadun had come to a definite conclusion: he hated the place and was really looking forward to getting a contract so they could leave. It wasn't the city. Galatean City was a huge, modern metropolis that had just about everything you could want, and catered specifically to the needs of mercenaries. There were an endless amount of hotels, bars, restaurants, night clubs and casinos.
As for military hardware, that was as easy to acquire as a pair of shoes. Almost every manufacturer of weapons, munitions, vehicles, aerospace fighters, BattleMechs and even DropShips had offices or outlets on Galatea. So long as you had the money you could buy whatever you wanted. If they didn't have it in stock, they could order it. This might take weeks or months depending on where the factory was located, but it was available. With Alexandra's signature on the orders, Jimmy

Cera checked her pockets one last time to make sure she had everything, then locked the door to her flat and made her way down the stairs to the ground floor of her apartment building and out the front door, pausing to keep it open for Mrs Fujita, her elderly neighbour who thanked her for her kindness.
Garadun was parked and waiting for her in front of the building, and she quickly got into the car with him. Barely audible, the vehicle's electric motor revved higher as he got them going. His car was a Scarab, a common model produced by Gienah Automotives, who also supplied wheeled armoured fighting vehicles to the Lyran military. The car was affordable and could go for about 1500 kilometres before needing a recharge. Garadun's had its fair share of dings and scratches, with a rear bumper sticker that read MY OTHER CAR IS A BATTLEMECH. Which, ironically, was true.
The sky was dismally grey and overcast,

3 September 3038
Standing on an outcropping of rock at the top of a hill, with the Great Boreal Forest behind him and the Inn Valley stretching out in front of him, and Apollo in its red, blue and purple glory filling a large part of the sky, Garadun couldn't help but feel moved by the beauty of Kolovraty. This was a world worth protecting.
He took a deep breath, enjoying the fresh cool air. It was a few degrees above freezing and there was a thin layer of snow on the ground, broken up across the valley with bare patches of open terrain. He could just make out the Inn River from here. He understood why people had made this planet their home. He gave a last look around, then made his way back to where his Hunchback stood waiting. He climbed the ladder to the 'Mech's shoulder and stood for a moment before retracting the chain ladder and ducking into the cockpit, sealing the hatch behind him.

Garadun stood with Cera, Alexandra and Ian on the wet ferrocrete tarmac of the Solaris Spaceport, watching as Sayuki's Centurion walked slowly up Shearling's ramp and into the DropShip's lower 'Mech bay, guided by Jimmy who was directing her with a pair of glowing yellow-orange batons while he spoke into a headset. This could be tricky for someone like Sayuki who hadn't done it before, but so far so good.
Garadun smiled as he glanced around. The Solaris City 'Mech Bays weren't that far away. It was where he'd first worked when he moved to Solaris, and being a 'Mech driver was the job he'd been apprenticed to after requesting a transfer from the graphic art department. How many 'Mechs he'd marched on and off DropShips during his time at the spaceport he couldn't say. Probably hundreds.
He and Cera had managed to arrange to keep their own ri

The Fighting Fusiliers were a brand-new mercenary company and a small one at that, but traditions have to start somewhere. One thing that seemed to be emerging as a Fusilier tradition was taking on people who were misfits in one way or another.
Take their new recruit, Laura Bauer. She was twenty-six standard years old and tall and beautiful, with blue eyes and long blonde hair. But her model-quality looks weren't what made her a misfit. It was her record.
Hailing from the Lyran Commonwealth world of Mississauga, Laura came from a middle-class family with a history of military service. Both her parents had been in the LCAF as enlisted personnel. They had saved up and sent their daughter first to the Port St. William Military School, and then on to the highly respected Coventry Academy. Laura had thrived and worked very hard. She'd done so well in fact that s

Hm! You say you don't know me. I can't help but wonder if that's a good thing. You may not know my face, but surely you might have heard my name before? My name is Red. I was once declared the youngest champion in Kanto's history and the only one to hold the title for so long. But that title is a false one. I'm not a champion. I'm nothing more than a senile old man. I said something I shouldn't have. My mother always warned me that I should never make a wish out loud because someone might be listening.
Ah, so you do know who I am! That will surely save time. I'm guessing you've come to find me to ask me how I became the champion and how I managed to hold it. The tale is not a happy one and I am not eager to share it.
Sandra's Throat (Part 2)Carl stood frozen with fear on the desk as Sandra’s massive hand calmly reached forward for him, the creasing folds of pale palm flesh casting an ominous shadow over him as she flipped her appendage over him like a roof, her fingers outstretched. Lowering her heavy, soft palm onto Carl’s head, she pressed down, forcing him into a crouching position. For a terrifying and high-inducing moment, he felt like she was forcing him to bow before her. Snapping back to reality, Carl tried to crawl out, but found a gigantic thumb smashing into the ground right in front of him, blocking his path. He grabbed hold of it, trying to push it out of the way, and was amazed to feel the thickness of her skin, and especially the sheer, rock hard muscle underneath when compared to his own relative strength. After tugging for a few seconds, he backed up quickly and found soft fingertips, each one easily large enough to cover his stomach, smushing against him. Garadun sat in the command couch of his Hunchback, his feet up on the control panel and his neurohelmet hanging on its hook on the side of the chair as he listened to music and read a magazine. He was ready for the match, but Jimmy wasn't.
After asking for and getting a bunch of volunteers from the Innsbruck Militia's technical company to help him, Jimmy had gone to the abandoned factory the next day to set up remote holocameras all over the ruined factory to capture the entire upcoming match. Unfortunately, the job had been a lot more difficult than expected and they had had to continue their work all through Saturday morning, the day of the fight itself. It was now past 1600 hours local time and they were still at it. The holocameras had sat in sub-zero temperatures for more than a day and several of them had had to be replaced. All along the edges of the forest, the Fusiliers waited in their BattleMechs, hidden among the ancient, snow-covered trees. Their engines were powered down to the minimum to reduce their heat signatures and all the safeties on their weapons were off. They waited; some calmly, some nervously, yet all anxious for the coming battle.
Well, ambush was a better way of putting it.
Radar had tracked the incoming raider during its approach to Kolovraty. Calculating back along its trajectory, best guess was that the JumpShip which had brought it to the system was somewhere at the zenith jump point. No matter where Kolovraty was in its orbit of Apollo, they had an unobstructed line of sight on the incoming DropShip, right up until it swung around the gas giant on its final approach to Kolovraty. Even then they only lost it for an hour or so, then picked it up again.
