A little story...Wanted to share this story with you guys, and future creators:A little story...5 months ago in Personal More Like This
After getting out of a slump, I wanted to share this story of something I went through a few years back. Bit of a read, but thanks for sticking through it
As you know, Comic-Con is arriving and as I prepare for it, I grow more and more anticipated with anxiety/joy in regards to the re-release of Last Man Standing.
As long, challenging, and mind-opening the creation of LMS was, something really stuck with me.
Before I had created LMS, I wanted to work for WETA Workshop. To those that don't know them, they've created props, designs, sets, costumes, and more for The Lord of the Rings, Avatar, District-9, Elysium, The Hobbit and many more films.
I was obsessed and inspired with them. The creator, Richard Taylor was always a huge inspiration to me. After viewing supplements on the Extended Editions of The Lord of the Rings DVDS, I knew right there: I HAD TO WORK FOR THEM.
So I al

THE NEXT THREE YEARS OF MY LIFE
I had received a job offer at Microsoft. I guess this could have been one of my first 'big time' jobs, so I was a little ecstatic. It felt like a slow build to get to this point, after numerous indie games and under the table freelance jobs, but finally it had come.
I was working with my now best friend and business partner, Stephan, a suave German who I had met only a year or so prior. He had brought me into the fray, working with several other individuals who will, well, simply be known as individuals for privacy sake.
But yes, finally, I could put a professional company I
Im BackWell guys, its been awhile and a lot has happened since I last posted. Let me shorten it down to this" After graduating CCS in May of 2012 I went to GenCon Indy 2012 in August and became a freelance artist for Paizo Publishing, NightShade Books, Dungeons and Dragons, and *drumroll*......MTG! Yep, I am a MTG artist now and words cannot describe how good it feels! You guys are gonna love the new set stuff that wont be out till fall later this year. Wizards also bought all the samples I made for them of MTG work, which was amazing....and not too bad on the wallet either . Anyway, I am super busy these days with all the art I am making and will show it as soon as I can. After getting much love and support from some of my art idols and some of the greats here on DA like Danny Luvisi, Dave Palumbo, Allen Williams and Dave Rapoza (to name a few) 2013 is without a doubt going to be a great year! But if you don't, I really won't give a rip
I've also decided to finally stroll on over to Facebook and make an account. It's mostly to pimp my high-quality prints (which you should buy copious amounts of!) but I've also found myself having damn good time with all the shenanigans that go down there, in addition to getting the privilege to talk to some of you when I can.
By all means stop on by.

CA.Org/TAD Are Stealing Artist RoyaltiesMy name is Brad Rigney, I am an illustrator, some of you may be familiar with my art and also with my tutorial entitled "A Hostile Takeover" that Conceptart.org produced, distributed and later sold through Conceptart.org and The Art Department (TAD).CA.Org/TAD Are Stealing Artist Royalties9 months ago in Personal More Like This
First of all I want to thank those of you who have purchased my tutorial through legitimate means. Your support has been incredible, myself and my family can't thank you enough, the notes and letters I have received from many of you in regards to the tutorial have honestly been touching and inspirational - it's been an experience unlike anything I expected to find in this business.
It is that very experience which has prompted me to come forward and lay my cards on the table and finally expose what has been transpiring behind the facade that is being presented to you by these institutions, because you deserve to know the truth for your own financial and intellectual protection.
I've waited to come forward about it because I've wanted my mo

Just a friendly reminderParticularly saying this for newer people. I want this group to remain major spoiler free and people to please respect that. Please. No demo story leak information or if you spot something majorly huge in the background of a video. Minor spoilers I am permitting though.Just a friendly reminder2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Minor spoilers consist of what Thane will be wearing and what planet he might be found, teaser images or extremely vague lines. Mundane, silly little things. Some people do consider this stuff spoilers and would probably go dark over that stuff, but in my opinion they are very minor and just encourage the desire to want to play more.
Major spoilers consist of the entire plot or what happens to Thane in the end. Like he never gets a cure and dies trying to save a school bus of children while in the vacuum of space and takes out three Reapers in the process the explosion is that epic.
Myself and many others would like to play the game to find out how the story plays out and ends, good or bad, we want to wait.
BRUISES ARE SEXY contestGood news, everyone!BRUISES ARE SEXY contest2 years ago in Personal More Like This
We have here very new contest called Bruises are sexy
It's somehow a tribute to the event of our group having over 35,000 pageviews and almost 2,000 watchers and members!
This group was originally created to collect art of mild violent pictures which contain beating, fights, battles, some post-fight injuries and wounds such as bruises, some of blood and so. Now we also accept hard violent pictures and photos, also writting, but the original idea was this. And this contest is to honour the idea itself.
the theme is very simple - can be fanart, can be OCs, can be writting along with photos, cosplay, poetry and drawings - digitall or tradicional of course. Can be also sculptures, 3D art, flash videos, gifs or whatever. This contest has NO borders, no rules (as long as it doesn't violate DA rules themself).
The only rule here is to preserve a theme - VERY mild violence, can be post-fight, can be fight itself! Mostly prefered are BRUISES!
AND NOW, somethign very impo
Boo! Special Halloween feature!Hello everyone!Boo! Special Halloween feature!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
As par the end of last month, I would like to have another round of features. This time, however, the feature is Halloween/autumn themed. Enjoy the pretty autumn leaves and stay away from those nasty ghouls!
This has a haunted feel to it... a most intriguing piece.
Why, she looks as pale as a ghost!
Sure gave me the creeps.
Speaking of creepy... o.o cool idea.
A very beautiful autumn piece I think! It seems so poetic.
What is Halloween without Edward Scissorhands!?
For those of you that are really into horror and macabre.
She's so pretty! If only she weren't death's bride. o.O
And with that, I bring this feature to a close.
CG HUB!I'm so happy and motivated today. I'm top row on cghub!! Thank you guys for all your support. It's amazing to be there, such talented people and crazy art I see everyday and here I am, it's an amazing feeling.CG HUB!3 months ago in Personal More Like This

DRINKERINGERINGSo, let's talk about some non-politisized shit.DRINKERINGERING1 year ago in Personal More Like This
First thing first: Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" is coming up, and being the derp I am, I didn't know it was supposed to be trilogy. What the fuck. How do you drag a really concise and linear (until the end) plot into THREE TWO-HOUR MOVIES? HOOOOOW? Jackson. The fuck you're doing. Jackson. STAHP.
On my part, I'll be a happy drunkard for the next week, since corporate parties are kicking in. Besides drinking and shit, this also means that presents from companies start flowing – this New Year's tradition of showering journalists with mostly useless, but sometimes pretty nifty gifts is why I like industrial IT journalism. People trying to please you, it's so nice.
I really hope that nVidia, Huwaei or Microsoft pack something in Ded Moroz's bag for me)
Speaking of presents, my birthday is coming up this here Sunday, and this year I'm so updated with gadgets and gear SWAG that all I could think of in terms of giving myself is a hooker and a Sam

The Passing of Ray HarryhausenFew people outside of film geekdom and kaiju fan circles seem to know just how important a figure Ray Harryhausen has been to the art of cinema and special effects. The mastermind behind the modeling and stop-motion animation effects of films like CLASH OF THE TITANS, THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD, JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS, and the film that is said to have influenced GOJIRA's production more than any other, THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS, has passed away at the ripe age of 92.The Passing of Ray Harryhausen7 months ago in Personal More Like This
Ray lead a hell of a long, fruitful life. He gave us all so very, very much, and now is not so much a time for mourning as it is a time for remembrance and celebration of a life well lived.
Many will recall that my first full one-shot comic was WRATH OF THE TITANS: CYCLOPS, a tribute to Harryhausen's immortal imagining of the Cyclops. Ergo, Ray had a special place in my heart.
My friend and writer Richard has penned a nice article on Harryhausen, in which he includes a brief recounting of my own meeting with the specia

FFFF Got Tagged AGAIN!!You guys hate me!! I JUST KNOW IT!! FFFFFFFFFFFF Got Tagged AGAIN!!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Anyway, my buddy :iconthunderblaze78: tagged me so I am obligated to do his questions. Plus 10 of my own.
1. You must post the rules.
2. Each person must post 5 things about themselves in their journal.
3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and create eleven new questions for the people you tag to answer.
4. You have to choose 11 people to tag and post their icons on your journal.
5. Go to their page and tell them you have tagged them.
6. No tag backs.
7. No stuff in the tagging section about "You're tagged if you're reading this". You legitimately have to tag 11 people. (SCREW THIS RULE)
1: When you lie down, what do you do? stare at the ceiling or sketch.
2: Do you ever think kids today are really misguided by media, and what your thoughts on the matter? Yes. Horribly Misguided, but I can't stop them >_>
3: Do you hate/dislike/stand/like/love Justin Bieber? Hate, I'd
Out of Curiosity...I'm wondering what sort of story setting and format people prefer on here and, until I get premium back, I can't do a poll and, besides, doing it through a journal lets me be more detailed in my questioning.Out of Curiosity...4 months ago in Personal More Like This
So, I have quite a few stories I'd like to revamp and finish and I'd like to have some input on what you guys think of some of them and what you would personally prefer to see.
Which format do you prefer?
Just purely word-based, meaning a lot of reading and maybe the occasional illustration as a chapter header.
Similar to a comic, but can also have heavier amounts of writing than what most comics would. For example, a spread of images with a bit of dialogue accompanied with a page of text that elaborates more.
Mainly pictures with the only writing being dialogue and sometimes thoug

In other news, I've been working on getting a job and, in my quest for monehs, have boosted up my commission prices.
I'll likely be adding other things to the list, but for now know you can request anything from sketches to full pieces as well as creature templates and, if you really want, for me to design you a character/creature. So, yeah.
I also may start doing species adopts, but I'm rather iffy about it given DA's history for theft. Bleh.
At any rate, yeah, if you guys could consider making a request and shizz, that'd help me at least get a bit closer to getting a premium again.

Guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back.
I'm so excited yes.
Finally got internet.
For those wondering, it took me eight weeks, a wedding, three BBQ's, two babysitting nights and one dogsitting, lots of cleaning, having to buy a new dresser, having to convince my grandmother that what I need is anything other than AOL DSL, and arguing with my mother about getting all of my possessions back to finally get internet put into this house.
I have arts to share and I am excited.
Also I missed you all a ton and love you lots ohmigosh.
I came back to over 4000 messages.
Moving Out SoonSo, I'm going back to Washington in June.Moving Out Soon7 months ago in Personal More Like This
A social worker has been speaking with me and my parents and we all finally came up with a plan on what to do so now I'm working on just saving up some money.
My folks have agreed to pay for my tickets and will also help pay the shipping costs for sending my stuff to Washington. ;w; I'm going to be picked up by my grandpa John at the airport and I will be living with my grandma B and heading to counseling to help alleviate my depression and anxiety. Tricare [a.k.a. military medicare that is covered by the government since we get hurt a lot] is able to cover most of my medical expenses up until I'm twenty one and they'll cover my counseling as well as any emergency medical treatment that may or may not happen, so I'm secure in that regard.
There's a Subway located not too far from my grandmother's house so I can continue working there using this employment as leverage to transfer. I'll be paying rent to her methinks, but her stipulations are jus
