understand a painting study dont just copyThis is purely an observation from my point of view but whenever i see a study or painting based on a masterpiece or a screen plate. The results are almost in every case very good.So this tells me that our ability to copy is quite good and its not really required to be a high level artist.Junior level to mid level ones can pull this off easily too. Everything you need to know is already in the image we are trying to copy so it becomes a recipe for us.understand a painting study dont just copy3 years ago in Personal More Like This
the important thing though is to not "copy" it but to understand it and deconstruct a work method from it.And if you understand that then the work based from your own mind will be alot better.
When i see this kind of work , for me its not the level of detail and accurcy that one puts in the copied artwork that impresses me, but the images based on that learned knowledge afterwards. And to tell you the truth not many people understand this knowledge or are aware of how important it is to understand it.But the interesting phenomenon is that

In the history of art you will hardly find another technique that has a better reputation than oil painting. It is an extremely versatile technique, the luminosity of the color is unmatched and it is proven and tested through centuries.
For more reasons why oil paints are awesome, read this excellent article by jane-beata:
9 reasons to adore OIL PAINT
This article is intended for beginners (although I hope some experienced artists can learn something too) and will introduce the tools required for oil painting
All pictures my own, click to enlarge.
Oil paints have a viscous consistency and are usually packaged into tubes. The pigment is suspended in a drying oil, usually linseed oil. Oil paints do not dry by evaporation like water color or acrylic color, but by oxidation of the oil. Due to this, they take a

Struggling with WatercolorsFrom time to time I receive messages from people, who have just started trying their hand in watercolors and are almost close to despair. They often add that they would like to have my "talent", but they don't believe in such possibility. Well, if they could only see my early works (made after many months of extensive efforts), they'd know that I wasn't "gifted". Really. Luckily no one can see these paintings because they were all burnedStruggling with Watercolors10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Anyway I applied a method of small steps which enabled me to make watercolor illustrations professionally. I briefly described this process on my blog: http://www.grimdreamart.blogspot.com/2015/02/beginnings-with-watercolors.html
Maybe someone will find it interesting or uplifting!

I’d like you to think back…to that first time (or the many times) when you (re)discovered what you’re meant to do with your life or to that moment when you thought you finally “figured it out.”
It felt amazing, didn’t it? Your mind was racing with thoughts and ideas. That huge rush of anticipation and purpose flooded your entire being because your life felt like it was finally heading
Just a few......thoughts on recent news.Just a few...3 years ago in Personal More Like This
As I left here to go home yesterday I heard for the first time about the three young women that had been kept prisoner for ten years in Cleveland.
Tragic. Reprehensible. That's what I think.
Out of the 592 deviations presently in my gallery I know they almost all depict women in peril, bondage, some state of capture and/or slavery. This is all mere fantasy, and I still maintain that all my girls, at least the ones that want to, gain freedom at some point. (Why do you think the delicious Keiko has to get recaptured so often?) For as much of a pervert as I am, I still have a tenderness toward women, and though I may fantasize about capture, keeping, and whatever else, I don't condone in any form or fashion such activity in Real Life. Bondage and capture games, even slavery of sorts, between consenting adults is fine. However, to steal someone's life is a crime worthy of the severest punishment, and yes...I sup
Cosplay: we've lost the meaning behind it.Most cosplayers on Facebook may have come across some drama that unfolded on a 'cosplay page', but for those who haven't I'll show you.Cosplay: we've lost the meaning behind it.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
This picture was posted up, and has since been deleted off their page due to the massive backlash. I can't even begin to comprehend what made them post it up. And I can't tell if the picture is pointing at overweight people, westerners, or both. Either way it's sickening.
Time and time again I see this bullshit. Even searching up cosplays on google, you see images of cosplayers being ridiculed for a 'bad choice'. Yes, I've said many times that one should choose their costumes wisely, but that should NEVER limit someone. I think we all have to remember why we cosplay- why we're all part of this subculture.

[GUIA] Precos de ComissoesSaluton! :iconiloveitplz:[GUIA] Precos de Comissoes2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Last night I finally assembled the mecha fully and activated all the lights for a test run, and EVERYTHING IS WORKING!!!!
So. after 6 months, here is the result of my blood sweat and tears (and money, don't forget money $$) for the championships!!
WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE!!!!! :iconfirerageplz:
The final height is 2 metres 50 cm. It has 26 push lights in them to make up all the eyeballs, and runs on 78 AAA batteries lol.
I don't even know how to express how accomplished I feel right now.
Only 6 days until the flight to Nagoya now. Wish me luck to the finish ))))
Meanwhile, I'm just gonna chill for a bit
Finally, more detailed progress pictures and walkthrough of the making, and general dorkiness can be seen at any of the Facebook pages on top of the journal
