Game Of Thrones – Daenerys Targaryen by luchia-28
Game of Thrones
The dragons are back this spring with the return of one of the most popular shows currently running on cable television. HBO’s Game of Thrones has gone to painstaking lengths to bring the heroic fantasy book series A Song of Fire and Ice by George R. R. Martin to life
Forum Features #46 - July: Cats!Once again, the Community Relations team is here to feature the artworks of deviantART's beloved forumers!Forum Features #46 - July: Cats!2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Once a month, we select one active member from the forums and we feature his or her gallery. This is someone we believe represents the forums well with both good forum-abilities and art.
As we're kind (and awesome), we also decided to give an opportunity for everybody to get featured! Every month, we create a thread in the Deviation Thumbshare Forum with a particular theme. This thread is made into a sticky for easy access. All you have to do is post thumbs of your artwork that match the theme and, at the end of the month, we select our favorite thumbs from that thread and feature them in the next news article.
The best thing is that being an active member of the forums is the only requirement!

A Christmas TraditionIt's after Midnight, so it's Christmas Eve once again, Ladies and Gentlemen.A Christmas Tradition2 years ago in Personal More Like This
And as most of you know, I have a tradition that every Christmas Eve, I will tell you all a marvelous story to warm your cockles in preparation for when Santa comes and pisses in your fridge..... I mean give you prezzies and shit.
So without further ado- pull up a chair, gather 'round and enjoy this festive treat.
T'was the night before Christmas
And all through the house
Everyone felt shitty
Even the mouse...
With Mum at the Whorehouse
And Dad smoking grass
I'd just settled down
For a nice piece of ass
When all of a sudden
I heard such a clatter
I sprang from my hoe
To see what was the matter
When out on the lawn
I saw a huge prick
I knew straight away
It must be Saint Nick
He came down the Chimney
Like a Bat out of hell
I knew instantly
The fat fucker had fell
He filled all our stockings
With pretzels and Beer
And a big rubber Dick
For my brother, The Queer.
He rose up the Chimney
An open letter to DeviantArtUmmmm... dA? Buddy... about your new logo.An open letter to DeviantArt1 year ago in Personal More Like This
It's horrible. Just like the rest of you.
How fitting that you inadvertently (or maybe not so inadvertantly... I mean you guys aren't very bright, nor are you masters of subtlety) copy a logo that already exists. It certainly speaks volumes about what this community has turned into.
11 years ago I came to an art community that might have had a few hiccups, but was a genuinely good community, bent on becoming something awesome.
Now it's just a haven for drama bullshit, attention whores, and a slew of theft cases that could be easily fixed if the artists and their broods would a.) quit acting like an angry mob, and b.) you guys would get your fucking shit together and actually do something about it.
Come to think of it, I wrote a piece on what to do if you take art that isn't yours. You can find it right here. I'd suggest you read up:
How to Practice Figure DrawingPracticing figure drawing is one of the best ways to improve your art. If you're enrolled in a local figure drawing class, that's awesome. If not, try using this free online figure drawing tool: http://artists.pixelovely.com/How to Practice Figure Drawing2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It will show you a timed slideshow of images to draw. I usually set the timer to 60 seconds. Drawing quickly helps you get in a large quantity of work, strengthens your ability to draw poses, and keeps you from having too much emotional attachment to your drawings. Here's some tips for getting the most out of these quick poses:
Relax. No one is going to see these drawings, so it doesn't matter if they're bad. You can throw them all away if you want to. So don't get frustrated - what matters is that you're drawing!
Draw small. When drawing quick poses, I find that it helps to keep your drawings on the smaller side. I can usually fit about six figures on one page.Don't worry about details. Your goal is to capture the overall balance

As you know, anime and manga cover a great many things. Some are reminiscent of RPG's, some deal specifiably with sports, others with comedy. Here's a challenge- 100 different types for you to draw out! Can you be one of the few to "defeat" this mighty list!
For those of you who are unclear by what is meant by some I'll post in brackets under each number some examples, but by no means feel constrained to the example. Use your OC's! Make new ones! Execute the picture with what you feel would be best as long as it's anime/manga style
General 100 Theme Project Rules
You are by no means required to abide by these rules, but they give things a general structure.
1.)Do one hundred pictures each with one of the themes. Each picture should have ONE and only ONE theme each.
2.) There is no time limit but because of that you are expect to finished or finalize EVERY picture. This challenge is made to help build artistic skill so don't upload unfinished scribbl

I am going to forewarn you now. This journal is based on my opinion. It may contain stuff that might offend you. (if you are offended, you're probably the kind of person I'm ranting about and I strongly recommend you go and rethink your life. Like maybe on the edge of an active volcano or something. Then I don't have to deal with you pissing me off.)
Also strong language... ... yeah I get the feeling strong language is gonna come into this.

I'll try to fix up the ugly pictures and maybe add some color when I have time, and reupload another version later :b (don't know when though.) For now feel free to watch this one and laugh at it huhuhu

A fellow artist shared this link with me so I though I'd share it with you guys too. It's an e-book written by written by Clint Clearley (Wizards of the Coast). I already skimmed through it, wish I had it when I've been starting out! Absolutely wonderful resource for all the beginners, more advanced people will find some useful tips too. Highly recommend for everybody who's on that bumpy road of studying and improving (and we all are actually. forever )!

That one lie we all believe..."If I had more talent, more popularity or more followers, I would be happier"That one lie we all believe...6 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
If I got a dollar for every time I've heard somebody say that, I would probably be a millionaire right now. And in all honesty, hearing things like that irk me, knowing how untrue they are.
From early on in life we we get to hear this lie. Be a good kid, get good grades in school, enroll into a prestigious university and get a proper job at some big company.... that'll pave your way to happiness. Life (in the western world, at least) has never been more equal in the opportunity's we get, yet the rates of people suffering from depression and anxiety has never been so high. Why? Because happiness isn't in the things we posses. It's in our mind.
Let's say you wake up one day in your own success story. You're madly talented and have a million followers.
Do you think that would magically wipe away those self conscious thoughts you've had for years? Do you think it would silence that voice in your head that

Starting off, we have my all time favorites!
Simplifying the figure: This is my very favorite anatomy deviation and I still come back to it when I need to amp myself up for drawing some anatomies. It’s just so simplified yet still accurate! It makes breaking down the body into simple shapes easier to understand. When I start working out a person’s anatomy, this is what they’ll look like, because details get in the way at that point and structure and form are what’s important to get down.
Muscles: One of the best resources on the internet for anatomy is

Celtic Art - A Look In History
Written by KovoWolf for projecteducate
There is something so unique and so humbling about Celtic art that we can immediately recognize it when we see it, though it is difficult to truly describe as a single 'medium'. With intricate designs, swirls, and beautiful knotwork however Celtic art is also a medium that you can recognize when you see it. Because Celtic art covers a huge expanse of time, geography and throughout various cultures, it can present some difficulty when trying to term or define what Celtic art truly is.
Celtic art and culture date back as far as the 8th century B.C generally refers to the culture of the European Iron Age from around 1000 BC onwards, until the conquest by the Roman Empire. The Early Medieval art of Britain and Ireland, which produced the Book Of Kells and other masterpieces that are well known today and can be associated with "ce

Jan/Feb AC Monthly Challenge [+winners]At the end of each year, many of us take the time to reflect on what the year has brought in terms of both highs and lows. We look to the good things for encouragement, whilst paying mind to other things we'd like to improve on in the coming year. Some go as far as setting themselves formal goals and resolutions to achieve, whilst others simply internalise desires to go one better.Jan/Feb AC Monthly Challenge [+winners]2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
This is often the case among artists as we look back on our progress over the year. We celebrate the things we achieved, progressed in and became more skilled at. But we often think of the skills we're yet to develop and resolve to work on that in the new year.
In keeping with this spirit, the theme this month is New Years Resolutions. We're going to challenge you to embrace new crafts and skills you've always wanted to have a go at, but have never gotten around to.
Because I'm slightly late in kicking this off, and I'd like to give you as much time as possible to delve into new crafts, this is going
Remove Blur From Images...One of the most difficult photography problems to solve is a blurry image. Usually, when you go back and look at a photo that’s blurry, you simply delete it and move on with your other photos. It’s generally regarded as a point of no return, where an image is just not worth saving.Remove Blur From Images...3 years ago in Personal More Like This
The only one and most effective software for deblurring was Topaz Infocus - http://www.topazlabs.com/infocus/, but now that all change with amazing FREE software - SmartDeblur, which is capable of fixing blurry images with ease. The program uses an advanced algorithm to fix blurry images. This allows it to fix blurry images in a way that most other programs just cannot accomplish. The program can fix at high-speed out of focus blur, motion blur, and gaussian blur. Of course, it’s not a miracle worker, and the images will not look exactly like an image without blur, but it will do a great job of getting close. Now I use this software for
