Out of all the useless things I drew this is probably the most complete thing I drew for a while. I gave up on some of his other limbs though lol I tried to draw his full body on whim, so I'll probably change a lot of things later, as do for many characters...
His full name is Mr. Ike Riddick Culos.
He is a character that's supposed to come out much later in my comics, but my comic's been floating in dead space for months now. I wonder if I'll ever get back to it, because the story is still going under works. What's the point of a work if you can't see results!!!!!
He's not a nice guy, that's all you need to know. I hope to draw him in comics at some point, but I find his personality a very difficult thing for me to develop. How do I make him a not nice guy without making him such a bitch.
Album of Kai's family going under way too many plastic surgeries. Just kidding.
I recently drew something in the sketchbook and I wanted to spread them out from the oldest drawings I can find of Kai's parents only on Deviantart. These are obviously not listing all the drawings I have of them, of course. I just picked a few divided by a year or two.
Sketchier ones were picked to match with the quality of my doodle. The first picture is the very first digital art of Kai submitted on Deviantart, I only started posting Veo and Evi around 2006. This is sort of like year to year character progression, except that this is probably only 1/10 or less of the drawings I have of Veo and Evi. Those were not scanned and they are stashed away.
Perhaps in the future I will do a more proper listing and post some of the pictures I never got to put on here. I just did this one because the sketch I drew today felt too little to post. Besides, I have other characters (Rita, Greed, Xeda, Eva, Puppet Kai, Yurii, etc...) that I haven't draw here nor recently, so I couldn't include them in the listing. It's not fair for them.
What do you guys think? Old design better or new design better? I hope that my characters' personalities are beginning to refine a bit more through the images; either more defined or improved.
I am still rather inactive online. I just got a bit more time on my hands so I decided to post something. Still won't be able to respond to much yet. To be blunt, I am not in the mood. I have no energy to do anything else other than surf the internet, draw, and play on my smartphone. I will try to update more, and seriously put some effort into returning to DA. I've already broken this promise so many times. Then again, life happens.
Anyway, it's not much, but enjoy. I need to sleep early. Drawings ranging from 2005-2013.
I don't feel like uploading comics too slowly so here's an octopus I made with felts (fabric made out of recycled material) My first real plushie. It's more difficult to sew things in place than I thought.
Nobody can remain clean-handed forever with certain things they do. It's a profession to drown yourself in.
It would be really easy to just say he's an "assassin", but that may or may not be a metaphorical description. In the past he would have been blood-lustful by going balling nuts with knives and having mindless psychotic episode, but I believe there are far more grotesque and disturbing ways humans can be without blatant violence and try-hard "evil" images of oneself. It takes beyond impulsive killing-spree or showcasing of dangerous equipment to be really more than just a repetitive "psycho".
That gets boring, because these types of characters never deal with consequences. In fact, they are pretty much done when they face it, for they were never designed to never face it for the sake of their superficial images. All they end up being is a show of blood, knives, superficial principals and drama. Afterwards they become pathetic and rather petty.
So enough of this blatant blood fest. I want to develop my characters, not with the pools of blood that they've brought, but with them drowning in it. They are no longer superficial beings with the ability to make them somehow disappear. They are beings with humane difficulties in having to decide between breathing under and drinking what they've brought upon themselves, or else succumbing to inevitable defeat. They are beings who chose to take an extreme path of life and for that they must pay a certain price. And what drives and makes them succeed at surviving on this path is what would define them.
This is probably just basics of developing decent character. I just felt like writing a long thing, haha, and maybe to give myself a simpler focus. I also want to change his image for good. He was a petty mess when I first created him, but I suppose that's a common development process.
Started out just drawing a bowl on his head. For the type of drawing this is in, it took long. Wasted first few hours trying to decide on the pose.
I haven't drawn him for a long time so I thought I should draw a little. This served as a practice for drawing colored liquid underwater, it was fun. Got inspired while going around DA. Ok, I will now probably be absent again for a long time. Busy feeling miserable.
