My vision finally began to blur as the door slowly opened. I soon became alert. A little figure slowly entered the room. With the curtains opened it was easier to tell the little figure was Damian in his finlet PJ’s with a hood attached to the shirt (curtsy of Alfred), with the light of the moon I could see the tears rolling down his face. I knew what to do after all this was the sixth time this month this has happened. I picked Damian up and walked over to my bed, as I sat down he instantly curled and pressed his face against my body. I realised was hugging the teddy bear I “secretly” put in his room. I rubbed his head and hugged him as the tears went down his face...”The nightmare again?” I asked although I knew the answer. He simply nodded and hugged the teddy bear tighter. Being the eldest of the brothers I feel like this is my responsibility to look after everyone, Damian being the youngest only 10 years old is not exactly your average happy lit

“This is Cat Grant reporting for GBS News from Metropolis where the city is under attack from the super villain known as Parasite.” Cat turned away from the camera gesturing to the scene behind her. A red car was lying on its top, smoke pouring from the under carriage. Water was leaking onto the street from a broke fire hydrant, fallen street lights criss-crossing the roads and sidewalks. “With Superman nowhere in sight, he seems to be unstoppable, sapping the powers and energy of everyone who gets close enough.” As the camera zoomed in on the field of drained officers Cat stepped back out of the frame. “Are you getting all of this Jimmy?” She whispered in a demanding
Anniversary“Daddy!” A little voice screeched as tiny footsteps ran down the hall towards Dick. Dick looked up from where he was placing all of his “toys” for when he became Nightwing. When he looked up he saw his daughter, Catherine, running towards him. Her curly brown hair waving behind her as she ran. “Daddy!” She shouted, extending her arms to Dick.Anniversary1 year ago in Short Stories More Like This
Dick smiled and bent down, holding out his arms so Catherine could jump into them. He caught her and picked her up, spinning her around high above his head. He brought her back down to eye level and kissed her cheek, “What’s up baby girl?”
“I saw grandpa on T.V.!”
“Did you?” Dick faked a smile. He wasn’t surprised that she had seen Bruce on T.V. He was either making an appearance as Bruce Wayne, Gotham’s playboy, or they were reporting a Batman sighting.
“Yea! And Uncle Dami was with him! They stopped bad gu

Give Me Strength
Fear welled inside my heart...
Unable to overcome it, I drove myself away...
Nobody cared... I felt, as if to cry...
But then you held out your hand. And trusted me.
You saw the true me, and showed me to happiness.
You told me of wise words...
You told me of comforting things...
When I had fear you helped me fight against it.
I thought the world didn't understand me...
But You showed me, that I didn't understand the world.
I thought no one cared... But You proved me wrong.
I am ready to face the world, with fearlessness and undying curiosity.
You showed me this path... this path of happiness...
I never want you to go away... I never want to fight with you...
You showed me this path... this path of happiness...
You gave me strength.
Ring-PopArtemis trudged into the apartment she shared with Wally. It’s been months since she’s seen it, but as the saying goes, there’s no place like home. With the Invasion over she was finally able to return to the apartment. But unfortunately the one reason she went straight there, wasn’t there. Wally was still in his last class of the day for another forty-five minutes.Ring-Pop2 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
Deciding to make the most of the time, Artemis started cleaning up a bit. The pizza boxes hidden under the couch with assorted other food packaging didn’t come as much of a surprise. Considering Wally’s cleaning skills and how much he eats, it makes perfect sense.
Once the cleaning was done there was still another twenty minutes left until the ginger arrived home.
With that in mind she went off to the bathroom to take a shower. There were still a number of unidentified bits of sea-junk on the Tigress uniform she hadn’t bothered to take off before rushing over to the apartment. Hones

Artemis jolted from her sleep as Wally's voice whispered around her. Frantically, she looked around, a flash of red and yellow assaulted her eyes, but she dismissed it quickly. Her mind was playing tricks on her. Wally was dead. Had been for months. Get your shit together, Crock. He's never coming back.
Shivers ran over her skin as she blinked back the tears. Closing her eyes against the images of him in his stealth mode costume as he swung her up in his arms and kissed her for the first time. Sobbing quietly to herself, Artemis mumbled, “No kidding...” before she drifted back into a Wally filled sleep.

As the sun came up, Artemis dragged her lazy ass out of bed. She had to go meet the rest of the team. She still had a role to play, maybe not as Artemis anymore, but as Tigress. It was still an important role anyway. Nightwing would be pissed if she showed up late again.

In MemoryThe Flash stood in the fake greenery of the Watchtower. Three holographic statues surrounded him. Three dead heroes. There was one pillar at his feet, yet to be activated. It was for the first Kid Flash, and the only Wally West he ever wanted to know. Batman ghosted into the room, effectively scaring the bejezus out of Barry. The big bat put a hand on his colleague’s shoulder. “Turn it on, Barry.”
The blonde shook his head, “I can’t. It just doesn’t feel right.”
“How so?” Batman pondered.
“We’ve had death scares before. Artemis was just undercover. I was just stuck in the Speed Force. Clark was just in another dimension. How do we know he isn’t dead?” Barry was about ready to pull his hair out.
“Barry, we saw him disappear before our eyes. He’s gone,” Batman tried

“Ready or not, here we go.” Artemis pushed passed the acrobat and entered the room she hadn't dared entered since losing Wally.
As she stood in the middle of the room, amidst Wally and who he was as a person, as a hero, as a lover, as a friend, tears threatened her gray eyes. She could almost feel her boyfriend in the room, wrapping his arms around her body and rocking her against his chest. Unable to keep them away anymore, the traitorous tears rolled down her pale cheeks.
Dick was worried about her, but she cut him off. She wanted to enjoy this moment. To soak up Wally and his being. “I love you, too,” she whispered into the empty air as she closed her eyes against the onslaught of uncontrollable pain. Her body shook from the ferocity of the grief she was letting out. When she opened her eyes, she saw him again. Like she had this morning and both times this

Author's Note: This fic came to me after I heard, then saw the video for, the A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera duet "Say Something". It struck something in me and... well, this story is what came of it. If you haven't heard it, it can be found here: Say Something.
Usage of the cover image, entitled "Mission failed" was granted by artist f19850928.
Warning: I never thought I would write one of these, but it turns out I was wrong. Not only is this a sonfic (something I'm not a big fan of) but it is also a Death!Fic.

“This is what I’ve been talking about all along! The Justice League is no better than the Reach!” The red haired man raised his arms dramatically with each exclamation. He gestured to the screen behind him. A blond girl was flying away from a scene of destruction. “This proves it! Aliens are running rampant. With that symbol it’s more than obvious the girl belongs to Superman. The last thing Earth needs is another alien. The Justice League think they can pull the curtains on the world, but not on G. Gordon Godfrey!
Finally we have someone with sense in the United Nations. Lex Luthor! With our planet narrowly escaping annihilation at the hands of aliens, Luthor is moving for the UN to enact The Earth Reclamation Registration Act.” Godfrey stopped his pacing and placed his fists on his hips, his stance reading as confident and powerful. “Otherwise known as TERRA. The jungle was surprisingly quiet, the numerous birds making few noises. One let out a shrill call to the others drawing their attention to the lizard climbing along the branch where they perched. As they turned to study the creature, sizing up the meal, it morphed into a small monkey, still the same brilliant shade of green. Startled, the birds took flight calling out warning to the other birds. The monkey let out a chattering laugh before pushing aside a clump of leaves to look beyond the branches before it. There, looking out of place among the greenery, were two dome-like structures and long strips of bare land. Men laden with guns of varying caliber patrolled along a chain link fence surrounding the area.
The team had been assigned to track down radical group calling themselves the Humanities Hope, after the failed Reach invasion many people had taken xenophobic views on all aliens species, blaming them for the failings of the world and

It was the first day of school in August and fifteen-year-old Mari Grayson woke up, got out of bed, showered, dressed, and went downstairs for breakfast. She wore a Murakami High School girl's uniform. Mari kissed her father on the cheek as he read the newspaper and hugged her mother as she sat down to eat breakfast. Once she finished breakfast, her father drove her to school.
Fourteen-year-old Kyle and twelve-year-old Vanessa Logan woke up to the sound and smell of breakfast being made. They fought over the bathroom, got dressed for school, and went to eat breakfast with their parents. Vanessa put on a ring that cloaked her green skin and pointed ears before she and Kyle walked out the door.

Thirty-one year old Richard or "Dick" Grayson was driving his five-year-old daughter to preschool in his Volvo XC60 when a tire went flat. He growled angrily and muttered curse words as he checked the tire.
"Are we going to be late, Daddy?" asked his young daughter from the back seat. His daughter had golden tan skin, black hair, and sapphire blue eyes.
Richard smiled at his daughter from the car window, hiding his frustration. "No, Mari, we won't be late," replied Richard. As he pulled out his cell phone to call a tow-truck, he saw an auto body shop nearby. He took his daughter out of her car seat and went inside. There was a tall, African American man with a clean shaven head and grey eyes at the front desk.
"Can I help you?" asked the man behind the desk.
"Yes, my car got a flat tire about a block away from here," explained Richa

Chapter Three: Teamwork Begins with a T
For the next few days the six teens continued to go to school. Once they would finish their homework, Nightwing would train them in combat and teamwork.
"Watch what your teammates are doing," said Nightwing. "Come up with attack plans that combine your strengths. You need to work together. You can win one fight by yourself, and the next one, and maybe the next one after. But people who fight alone, they fail, and they fall, eventually. What made the Titans strong was having teammates to pick you up again after."
"We know, Dad, fight smarter, not harder," said Nightstar.
"No, fight smarter, fight harder but, most importantly, fight together," replied Nightwing. He turned to Burrower. "Show me your moves." Burrower's eyes and hands glowed yellow as he levitated sev

As she looked at the group, the ones who have become the dysfunctional family all seemed as it should. Robin and Starfire were watching TV. Or, rather, Starfire was. Robin was too busy watching Starfire to notice anything on that screen. Beastboy and Cyborg were over in the kitchen deep in their morning routine of arguing over the pros and cons of tofu. Raven paused in her scanning of the room to focus on the green goofball in the kitchen. It had been a month since their talk on the roof and he had made a complete come back to his old self. But there was a change there. She dismissed it as embarrassment over all that was revealed, but maybe there was more to it. Maybe that was what was off. He seemed to be the same around everyone, but he seemed to be a bit reserved, almost nervous, around her. He hardly held eye contact with her in their conversations and their conversations were very one siChange2 years ago in Romance More Like This

Starfire held a picture in her hand of her, Raven, Robin, Beast Boy, and a random teenage boy. Apparently, Cyborg believed that it would be funny to catch a shot of a jealous Robin telling the boy to back off.
Starfire giggled as she reminisced the day.
"Hey you're um Starfire, right?" a boy with brown hair and eyes asked.
"Yes, hello," she greeted.
"Oh, that's so cool! Starfire, I'm such a big fan of yours! You're an amazing fighter, not to mention, hot!" he complimented.
"I do not believe my temperature has increased," she answered as she checked her forehead.
"Good one," he chuckled, "I mean hot as in attractive."
"Oh," Starfire slightly turned red.
"Listen, I was wondering if you want to go out sometime," he said with tinted cheeks.
"She's taken," another teenager with spiky black hair and masked eyes answered.
