Celebrating Pokemon Red and Green 17th Anniversary"Pocket Monsters: Red (Japanese: ポケットモンスター 赤) and Pocket Monsters: Green (Japanese: ポケットモンスター 緑) were the first Pokémon games ever released to the public, in Japan on February 27, 1996. Introducing the gameplay concepts that went on to provide the standard for games in the main series games, these games were eventually localized and released worldwide as Pokémon Red and Blue Versions, using a combination of the engine from Pocket Monsters: Blue (Japanese: ポケットモンスター 青) and the obtainable Pokémon from Red & Green. Much as would become standard, Red & Green were later joined by a third version, Blue, which slightly improved upon their features and provided the code for the international releases of Red and Blue, and eventually Pocket Monsters: Pikachu (JCelebrating Pokemon Red and Green 17th Anniversary9 months ago in Art Features More Like This
PE: Interview with some dA Haiku MastersHello allPE: Interview with some dA Haiku Masters9 months ago in Literature Features More Like This
As part of this weeks %projecteducate, we have interviewed two members whose work is almost entirely focussed on fixed form poetry- and in this instance Eastern Poetry.
In my early deviantART days, Eastern poetry writing went through a popular phase. There were regular HaikuWriMo months, challenges and clubs; some of which still continue in their own ways. Two members who have continued that popularity and developed their skills in these forums are `jade-pandora and ~moyanII- both owners of a huge collection of Eastern poetry, DD's and beautiful creative writing. Both these delightful deviants have taken the time to share their experiences in this interview.
`jade-pandora was born in Los Angeles, California. She started writing seriously in 2001, joined deviantArt in 2003, and in 2007 discovered dA’s literature community when she stumbled into the HaikuWriMo of October 2007. Her fascination with Haiku dre
PE Daily Deviations- Presentation of your workHello all!PE Daily Deviations- Presentation of your work1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Well we’ve had a fascinating week so far; a week which hopefully has provided some insight not only to the process of DD selection but helped you understand what we look for in DDs as CVs. As we draw to the end of this week, I bring you an article which will whet your Saturday with thoughts that don’t just apply to the DD feature, but something which should be a consideration to everything you submit to dA. I am talking about deviation presentation.
Why is Presentation important?
Art isn’t always about just being “creative”. There are techniques and skills which develop over time which contribute to the quality of the work you produce and alongside this comes a developed understanding of good presentation.
Good presentation could be anything from cropping a photograph, to spell checking your literature. These are common sense things that in the rush of wanting to show off your creativity can sometimes be

Typo Feature: AmbigramsWelcome to today's Typo Feature!Typo Feature: Ambigrams7 months ago in Art Features More Like This
In this ongoing series each article will focus on a specific theme and showcase deviations that manage to convey the theme in a special and great manner.
This feature's theme will be ambigrams.
Ambigrams are a subform of Caligraphy, usually keeping up the style of being drawn by brush or pen, but often with stricter, more geometric forms.
The most famous kind of Ambigrams are those, in which when rotated 180° you will see the same image. Another popular form are Mirror-Image Ambigrams, which result in the same artwork when flipped horizontally or vertically.
Some artists manage to place two words in one Ambigram. By rotating or flipping the artwork, a new word can be read.
There are many forms of ambigrams, some easier to create than others. Words can be natural rotational ("suns" or "pod") or mirror-image ("bud") ambigrams.
Ambigrams are popular elements in logo designs, as they give a high level of back detection from the

1. Happy Holidays and Merry New Year
As the old year begins to fade into the sunset, it is customary to reflect on the passing year and make plans for the upcoming one. Some do this in the form of resolutions, some people make action plans, some people just swing into the new year the same way they swung out of the old one Whatever way you intend to welcome in 2013, I hope you're surrounded by love and that you do it safely!
I've been reflecting on the year and like many, with some focus on the unimaginable events of the last few weeks. Specifically, the shooting in Newtown. I know that it's "human nature" to want to find
A Glimpse into Futurism Art❖ IntroductionA Glimpse into Futurism Art1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Futurism was an avant-garde artistic and social movement founded by the Italian writer, Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, originated in Italy in the early 20th century. It emphasized and glorified themes related to the modern concepts of the future, including speed, technology, machinery, violence and objects such as cars, airplanes and industrial cities. It was largely an Italian phenomenon, though there were parallel movements in Russia and England.
Futurist ideology influenced all types of art. It began in literature but spread to every medium, including painting, sculpture, industrial design, architecture, cinema and music.
Futurism exalted the dynamism of the modern world, especially in science and technology. It employs techniques of Divisionism, Cub

1. New Submission Process and Thumbnail Examples
In my opinion, one of the greatest advantages to the New Submission Process, are the thumbnail examples and descriptions that appear when you're selecting a category. It's no secret that we have misplaced deviations throughout the galleries and it's probably the most complained about topic I deal with on a daily basis. My team and I have been working hard to improve the descriptions and thumbnail examples for all of the galleries, and I'm happy
Arthur RackhamArthur Rackham was born on the 19th of September 1867 in London and died of cancer at the age of 71 in Limpsfield, Surrey. He's considered to be one of the most recognisable artists of the Golden Age of Illustration in Europe, along with John Bauer and Theodor Kittelsen.Arthur Rackham9 months ago in Art Features More Like This
He was born in a big family - it's enough to mention that he had 11 siblings, but surely plenty of you knows that it wasn't quite unusual in the XIX century and earlier. We know that in his youth, Rackham's health was rather poor - hence he travelled to Australia with his two aunts to improve his condition.
After he returned, he began studying at the Lambeth School of Art. In 1892 he started working as a r

Gallery Makeover Project: Photography$Moonbeam13 recently posted a journal about the Gallery Makeover Project. The project talks about the changes that have already occurred within the Galleries here on deviantART. When the new 'submit' became live, it was important that all the gallery descriptions were updated and the thumbnail examples accurate. Now it's time to look at the galleries themselves!Gallery Makeover Project: Photography9 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
The CV team is working alongside $Moonbeam13 to act as a port of communication for you to share what you think needs to be changed within the galleries. So, because of this, ^3wyl and I are asking you what you'd like to see changed within the Photography Galleries or whether indeed, everything should just stay the same!
Sometimes, sub-categories can be very confusing and there are a fair few galleries within Photography that have an extensive amount of sub-cats. Are there too many? Do you think there needs to be an
Not So Traditional Tuesdays #3I'm staying with my plan to will keep the features fresh for me(and you) and maybe open a few eyes to all the different kinds of artwork that is available while browsing the deviantArt galleries. The things that make one piece of art great applies, for the most part, to other genres. A painter can learn how light and shadow fall from photography, photo-manipulators can learn about composition from a great Manga drawing, and literature can give you the inspiration to try something new or take your work to the next step. You may never try all art forms you see! You can however take what you learn from them and incorporate that into your own work. It could be the difference between stagnating and that breakthrough every artist wants to find! Not So Traditional Tuesdays #31 year ago in Art Features More Like This

Traditional Tuesdays #40Welcome to edition 40 of Traditional Tuesdays. This week, like all of the other weeks, I'll be featuringTraditional Tuesdays #401 year ago in Art Features More Like This
fifteen works of art from the Traditional Gallery. Any more than that might and you might loss interest or it could cause your monitor to fail in an explosion of awesomeness. I would feel guilty if that were to happen, so I'm keeping it at fifteen! The Traditional gallery is a vast storeroom of work that covers many mediums and genres. I've tried to show a good mix of artwork, but I don't have room for them all. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

So what is this new project all about?Calling all Traditional Artists1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
%Traditionalists is a group aimed at giving the traditional art community their own unique voice by giving the traditionalists a place to gather, organize, and inform others with the help and guidance of the traditional Community Volunteer team. The idea behind this project was to open the channels of communication between the traditional community and the traditional CVs so that we can all work together and develop a main hub for all things traditional.
%Traditionalists was created in order to give the traditional community a broader audience and to help shine more light onto the joys of traditional art! We will be submitting articles on a regular basis written by community members. T
