It is not difficult and it does not cost a fortune. All you need is a strong will to create, any other problems can be solved
You may find some of the advice written here ridiculous but this is how i began so i'm speaking from experience
- intro over -
If you are a complete beginner i would highly recommend using cheaper metals such as copper, aluminum, anodized aluminum or lacquered copper. You will ruin some to substantial quantity of wire while learning. Don't let that bring you down; it is normal and everyone who makes jewelry has gone through that phase So, unless you are wealthy, get the cheapest wire possible and experiment. Learn how it behaves. If you bend it 3 times will it break? What pressure is the best to hold it tightly without marring it with pliers? I learned on the cheapest wire available so i did not have to think THAT much about the money i was ruining with my failed attempts. You can get these in most craft or

How to Win Internet Fights!!...or at least keep your dignity. How to Win Internet Fights!!4 months ago in Personal More Like This
The number of people who fight over the internet is amazing, and the main point of most of the fights is that they're petty, childish, and funny as hell to watch. Is someone picking fights with you over the interwebs? Are they pissing you off and making you oh so homicidal? If so, this is what you should do!
1. Stop capitalizing everything you say. Caps lock doesn't help your case at all. They cannot hear you. It's not like you're physically yelling at them. You just let them know you're raging at your computer. And we all know that your rage means you absolutely, under no circumstances, care what they think.
2. Stay away from irrelevant insults, but if you must use them, make them smart and logical. Whether you know it or not, it's hard to be offended by being called a name that is so far from wrong it's not even funny. Insults don't win arguments, but it's better to look knowledgeable than like a doofus who's pulling 'totes offensive' bullshit o
Artists Toolbox: Sewing suppliesSo, you want to learn to sew! Congratulations, it's a fun hobby. Before you can get started with your awesome new hobby, you'll have to get the right supplies.Artists Toolbox: Sewing supplies1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
With that in mind, let's talk about the tools of the trade. Here's the basics of a sewing kit:
Pins and needles, and a pin cushion to keep them in
Sewing scissors- a big pair for cutting fabric and a smaller pair for cutting thread and snipping corners and curves
A marking pencil or two
A seam ripper (everyone makes mistakes!)
A tape measure
(Also pictured: thread conditioner- occasionally a lifesaver!)
(An iron is also helpful! Always press your seams!)
If you have a sewing machine, the following stuff might also come in handy:
Extra bobbins and needles
Different kinds of feet (and possibly a small screw driver, depending on the type of feet)
There's lots of other things that are nice to have- fray check, grommet and snap setters, all kinds of fancy rul

There was an endless buzz in my ears of massive shell-shock.
Crunching noise of the ground.
For a brief second I saw tiny mushrooms and flowers under me, but they quickly disintegrated into dust.

Crawl forward. Away. Away from the heat.
Farther. Come on Alex. Get up. Walk.

Introduction about making handmade booksINTRODUCTION ABOUT BASIC TOOLS TO MAKE HANDMADE BOOKSIntroduction about making handmade books1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Today I'd like to share with you some basic tips if you're interested in making handmade books. I've learned how to do that a few terms ago, at the university. As an art restoring adept I've been through the old, traditional ways of making books and added some modern touches to simplify that. I'm going non-professional so far, without expensive equipment, so if you'd like to give books a try you don't have to invest that much
The first and obvious thing that's needed for our book is paper. At that stage you have to decide what kind of book you'd like to make - you need lined or squared paper for notebooks, journals, cookbooks and basically everything that's meant to write in. Sketchbooks and scrapbooks require nice smooth plain paper and photo albums work best with thick and durable paper. Of course those are basics, you can use decorated paper or one suitable for

How to draw trees - detailed tutorialHere is something many people desire - easy way to draw realistic trees. If you like it - subscribe my YT channelHow to draw trees - detailed tutorial5 months ago in Personal More Like This
The Ten Percent RuleIf you are working on a completely shaded drawing, or a finished art work, you may wish to follow the the ten per cent rule, which runs as follows: Make roughly ten per cent of your shaded areas black or near-black, and roughly ten percent white or near-white, with the rest of the artwork composed of a range of middle tones. This rule follows my deeper art philosophy that "beauty is in the middle tone." All areas of tonality must also follow the rule of balanced composition. I'm just formulating this rule now, but it seems that many high quality masterpieces, such as finished oil paintings and the best drawings, follow it to some extent. (not always, but many, I think.) For example, here's a typical masterpiece, a piece of art by Degas: http://penonpointe.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/edgar-degas-the-rehearsal.jpg I think you can very clearly see the ten per cent rule in effect here. The Ten Percent Rule2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The challenge is to my self (isn't it always?) to follow the rule and apply it to my best fully shaded ar

My photography course at HogwartsUuuugh you guys, my sleep has been so terrible. I woke up out of a pretty entertaining dream, though. My photography course at Hogwarts2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I was taking a photography class at Hogwarts and Snape was our teacher. I think Ron and Harry might also have been in our class but I never did see them. Our assignment at the time was to get ten outstanding photographs of animals in their natural habitat and he told us we had to roll up our pant-legs and go wading in a swamp full of alligators and poisonous snakes if we hoped to get any good ones. He meant this literally. This was our assignment. (Oh, Snape! )
So I actually did it; I took off my shoes and wandered into the bog, dodging snakes and snapping away. I took so long about it that I missed the start of critique and I sort of ran into Snape with some of my classmates on a bridge while I was headed back to the castle. He was reviewing their photos (and grading ruthlessly, as he does). He saw me and said, "What are you doing? You knew we had critique."
I answered, "Yeah, I kn
