Not too much to say. Her face felt wide to me because of how far apart her eyes are. I guess its just the artists style for 2013. Also I'm trying to bring all the illustrations together to do the model. So the highlights are off the illustration in my miku announcement journal post while the eyes are inspired by the little nendroid and image behind the 3d model in the screen shot.
Racing miku and her UmbrellaFinished the other pig tail but after running it in mmd I kinda want to add new bones to it.. Just the method I used to rig it looks a little too ridged and a bone or 2 would be fine x 8 /facepalm. Sigh this means re-weighting 8 strands if the modified rig works correctly. Otherwise I did weight her bangs. I also added the umbrella as a slider to her right hand with its own bone. Now this is not the first time I've seen something like this written and so I felt it would be a nice idea to write down the method that I use to do my animation work.
First off, to save you alot of time, this is not a tutorial on computer animation. There are plenty of excellent tutorials around on this topic all over the Internet. What was happening was about midway down it seemed her hair was a little too ridged and not bendy enough. So I added more bones to let that happen. This is basically Misaki hair on crack. More bones and technically challenging physics all to keep her hair separated when it flys around but keep it some what grouped up. Before I re-built the original rig her hair was also flying around super wildly. 2nd Major thing was she had to have a arm operation/surgery. I noticed her elbows were too low on her arm and the only correct way to fix it was go all the way back to maya and fix it at the source. Then bring her arms back in to max then export from max in pmx then re-rig them. It ate up a few hours trust me but now I'm happy
Racing Miku's lesson in PhysicsI'm typing this with one hand because my other hand has its fingers crossed lol. Physics are going way better then before. All the rigging for physics are done however I still have to weight her right pig tail and reduce how much the hair swings. Its funny I counted the number of bones for hair strands for Misaki and it was 7 which is exactly the number of strands for miku's pig tails per side. So I took it and modded it to use for miku. I mean why redo whats not broken? The below image is one of the pig tails completely weighted like Misaki's hair.
Also did all the physics and weighting for her skirt blades. It did take some time but I used a technique strait form Aka Akasaka [IAx] with the pillow style collider under her skirt to push up on them. I wanted to make sure it stayed angled out until she started bounc
Racing Miku in PMXI broke her up into subsets, aka pieces in maya then exporter her as a obj/fbx to AutoDesk 3ds max. I had to re-hook up her textures and assign them to all the pieces I broke her up in. From there I had to fix all her face normals. For those that don't know maya and max's face normal systems don't communicate well. So when i do it in maya for the screen shots and stuff its really something I'll have to do all over again. Also for those that dono lol.. (I should really write a FAQ guide) I have to use 3ds max to get her to the pmx editor. There are no directx exporters for Maya. Only a few for max and thank god someone wrote a good one for it. So I basically export from max as a .x and bring her into pmx that way.

A: Nope. Well actually it is kind of how interpolation works, I tested it on IK bones and it does seem like it. But nope, interpolation is used to determine the start and end points and splines is only for connecting keyframes but does not automatically determine when to start(accelerate) and stop(decelerate). In other words, you simply use interpolation to control the start or the speed and then the stops while letting spline do the dirty job of connecting keyframes. I tried it on normal bones but I can't control it properly but it does work somehow. Used for creating nice arc movements

*Spent time adding the pinching to her skin where her thigh highs start and stuff.
*Reworked all the polys in her hands so it makes a little more sense now and better for rigging as well as modeled in her cool alien the movie steel spike nails.
*Modeled edge loops for aqua colored area on her inner gloves for easy UV's
*Started to model wrinkles in spots even wrinkles in her palms of her hands.
*Added some poly's to the chrome band that holds the blades.
*Shorten blades by 1 inch in scale.
*Widen tops of blades.
*Angled all blades out.
*Dropped the entire blade assembly a few inches on her body.
*Added 1.5-2 inches to her torso length
*Un-welded her mouth shut lol (Mistake during modeling)
*Modeled chrome blue/red disc's and placed them on her body in correct locations.
*Modeled lower large disc on her back

Like okay, technically I am part of it since I ripped shit in the past, but mostly that was for friends who didn't know how to and I taught them how with a tutorial though but...still.
But what I hate is, okay, techically ALL DT and PD Models are illegal to convert into MMD, without written PERMISSION, and I highly doubt ANY of you got it.

how to get into .pmd format (without doing anything special with the plugins and whatever):
download blender 2.49

once you get blender opened and running, click: file -> import -> wavefront (.obj)
it will import your model.
export your model (file -> export) as a .3ds
after you do this, import that .3ds file (file -> import -> .3ds) and then export it as a .x file (file -> export -> DirectX (.x))
