Pitch's return ch.18Chapter 18
Jack's eyes opened slowly to reveal Pitch sitting in a large armchair beside the bed reading. The boy stretched out an arm and poked Pitch's leg with his sleeve covered hand. The Boogeyman looked up from his book. "So you're already awake?" Jack nodded, not wanting to speak, since his throat felt like he swallowed knives. Pitch got out a thermometer. "Open." The frost elf did as he was told and after a short time the numbers read: 89.
The Nightmare King sighed. "That's not good," and he began to walk into another room.
Jack looked confused and realized he didn't want to be alone. "Pitch, wait!" His scratchy voice managed to say.
The man huffed and turned round; his eyes looked like fire. "Jack, be quiet, you're only going to make yourself worse if you keep talking. Say another word and I'll give you nightmares for a week." The young guardian pouted angrily, but pulled the covers up over his mouth. Satisfied, Pitch left the room.
He returned shortly with a sm

"Pitch, you shadow sneaking rat-bag, get over here!" Bunnymund shouted from the other room.
Pitch suddenly appeared in front of him, causing Bunny to jump back slightly. "Stop shouting like an imbecile!" The Nightmare King quietly screamed.
"Where's Jack?!" Bunny said a little quieter.
"He's asleep." Pitch answered. "I can't believe he didn't wake up with all the loud noise you were making."
Bunnymund stepped closer to Pitch. "And what is it you've done to him, huh? Everyone was gettin' worried because we hadn't seen even a small glimpse of him for days, so Manny told me where he was. I got worried and wanted to see why you were keeping him here, so he used moonbeams to lead the way." Bunny was about to continue, when the Boogeyman's growl cut him off.
"Keeping him here?" He thought for a second. "Yes, I suppose he would prefer to be outside. Tell me, Rabbit, did the man in moon tell you why Jack's here?"
"He was going to, but I was already on my way." The G

It had been two days since Jack last saw Pitch, and his body ached to see him again. He didn't care if they did nothing, he just longed to be in the man's presence. The boy wanted to run into Pitch's arms and never leave, but how could he? That would be selfish, wouldn't it? He was a guardian, he had responsibilities, didn't he? The Nightmare King tried to wipe his friends from existence, how could he just simply forget that?
The act was unforgivable, but it didn't stop the guardian's heart from beating a mile a minute when he saw the boogeyman. Suddenly the frost elf was in the air and flying towards Pitch's lair; his heart wouldn't allow him to stay away any longer. The snow spirit landed outside the hole, and was about to dive in, but he couldn't move. His heart was begging him to go inside, while his brain was yelling at him to leave as fast as possible.
The brain won.
Jack began to walk away, when all of a sudden he was lifted off the ground. A half a sec

Jack flew to Japan, where it was still nighttime, and was enjoying the view when he saw a blur of gray dash in front of him. The frost elf smiled. "Bunny!" He followed the blur into a dark alleyway. "Bunny?" There was no reply. "Hello?" Suddenly he felt his staff ripped out of his hands. "HEY!" Jack looked around trying to find Bunny, figuring that this was some sort of prank.
"Those are some strange marks on ya neck mate," Bunny said with Jack's staff in his left paw.
"They're bruises." Jack answered, pulling up his collar, just now remembering Pitch had kissed his neck several times earlier. "Now give me back my staff!"
"Where were ya just a few minutes ago?" Bunnymund asked, ignoring Jack's second statement.
"I was just freezing over streets." Bunny's expression changed to annoyed and angry. Without warning Bunnymund was gone, and jack felt a paw grab his waist and he hit something hard. The snow spirit looked up to see Bunny had thrown him over his shoul

Despite what Pitch said, Jack ran as fast his feet would take him. It seemed as if he would escape, but without warning his path became a dead end. Frustrated Jack quickly turned around and once more started to run.
"Jack? Oh jack?" Pitch called. "Please stop running, it will get you nowhere." All at once the stairs Jack was running down disappeared, and he found himself in the middle of the lair, with no place to hide. "Hello Jack," a sly voice came from behind. The guardian turned around and before he could do anything, Pitch pushed him up against a wall, a gray hand wrapped around his throat.
"Let-Go!" Jack yelled.
"Oh," Pitch cooed, looking at the boy lovingly, "but if I do than you'll run away. And what would be the fun in that?" The boy latched his hands onto Pitch's wrists and covered them in as much ice as possible, without his staff. The boogeyman let out a cry and dropped Jack. Although he hit the stone hard, the guardian got up and sprinted away.

Pitch and Jack landed on a rooftop in a city in California. As soon as they touched ground the boy jumped off and stepped away from the nightmare. "I hate riding those things!"
Pitch dismounted and the nightmare disappeared. "I can tell. Your fear was making her very hard to control."
"I wasn't afra-"
"Yes you were." The Nightmare King laughed.
Jack stuck out his tongue before turning away from Pitch. "Maybe I should go hang out with someone else instead."
Thinking quick, Pitch grabbed Jack's staff. "Not without your staff."
"HEY! Give it back!" The guardian jumped to try and grab it back, but Pitch held it above his head, laughing all the while. "Pitch gimme it!" Jack hopped onto Pitch's back in hopes of reaching it, but the boogeyman held it out forward.
"If you can get it you can have it Jack!" Pitch managed to say through his constant laughter.
Jack climbed onto Pitch's shoulders and leaned over to reach his staff, but lost his balance and fell back onto

Jack's eyes opened and he looked around to see he was in a golden hallway. "What?" The boy asked confused. He grabbed his staff and started walking down the long hall. "Hello?! Anybody here?"
The Guardian turned a corner and stopped dead in his tracks, for there was a familiar man standing guard before a cell filled with strange creatures. "P-pitch?"
It was Pitch, but at the same time it wasn't; he was human. "Pitch? Pitch what's going on?" Jack went out to touch the man's arm, but his hand went through it. The frost elf jumped back, unsure of what was going on.
Pitch let out a sigh and grabbed a gold chain that hung around his neck. He pulled it out from underneath his cloak to reveal a locket. "What's that?" Jack asked, but Pitch couldn't hear him. The General opened it up and in there was a picture of a young girl. The man caressed the picture

Pitch woke up to see Jack still asleep in his arms. With a smile, Pitch caressed the boy's cheek and his blue eyes opened slowly. Jack frowned at the Nightmare King. "Too early. Don't wanna get up yet," he said while pulling the covers over his head.
Pitch rolled his eyes and pulled the covers off Jack, who groaned and crouched into a ball. "Stop being so dramatic, you slept great." The guardian huffed, wrapped his arms around Pitch, and hid his face in the man's robe. The boogeyman smiled and ran his fingers through Jack's hair. After a few minutes Jack showed his face, and his eyes were now bright and wide.
"You know what I just realized?" The frost elf asked.
"We didn't go out in costumes." Pitch found himself laughing at both Jack's innocence and a costume he thought would be fitting for the snow spirit. "What? What's so funny?"
"Oh, nothing." Pitch replied, laughing even more so at Jack's irritated expression.
"Tell me!" The man shook his head.

"Pitch? Pitch?" Called Jack, as he entered the dark lair.
"Over here," a voice echoed far away.
Jack walked further, trying to locate the Nightmare King. "Pitch where are you?"
"Over here. Just follow the sound of my voice." Jack continued to walk towards the boogeyman's voice, wondering what was going on. "That's it, just a little closer Jack." The boy finally arrived at the voice's location, but it spoke no more.
"P-pitch?" Something moved in the darkness, and Jack pointed his glowing staff at the creature; it was Pitch tied up and gagged. "Pitch!" Jack dropped to his knees, and untied the rag around his mouth.
"RUN!" Pitch screamed. Jack was about to ask what he meant, when suddenly the guardian was lifted off his feet and pinned against a wall. He looked up to see something that looked like Pitch, only it wasn't Pitch. The thing's body was black and made of sand, and his eyes were bright red.

Pitch walked over to his nightmares, readying them for the takeover he had so longed for. "Jack," the Nightmare King called. Jack Frost flew over to Pitch, a smile on his face. The Boogeyman grabbed the boy's chin and kissed him. "Jack, would you do me a favor?" Pitch said gesturing to the nightmares. Jack flew to the ground and covered the nightmares in a light layer of frost. The Nightmare King laughed viciously. "Excellent."
The two headed for the town of Burgess, Pitch in desperate need to first take down the children that defeated him before. Once they arrived, the pair stood on a sand cloud high above the city. The black sand and frost went out in all directions, turning all the children's dreams to nightmares. Jack smiled up at Pitch, glad to see the Boogeyman was so pleased with how everything was going.
"Jack," Pitch began, "I need you to fly towards the other side of town. There isn't enough ice on the nightmares." Jack nodded his head and flew in t

"No." North stated. "Not until Sandy confirms it. Sandy, no more black sand?" Sandy shook his head with a smile. "Now you're fine! Music!" Russian music began to fill every corner of the pole. North grabbed Bunnymund's paw. "Dance with me Bunny-man!"
"Crikey!" Bunny screamed as the guardian of wonder forced him to dance. Sandy leaned against the fireplace, sipping his hot chocolate, and grinning at what a fool North was making of Bunnymund.

It had been a few days since Jack last saw Pitch or any of the Guardians. When he woke, he found himself smiling; today was Halloween. The boy jumped into the air and flew towards Jamie's school. He arrived just as the school bell rang to let the kids out for recess, and he quickly sat down on a low tree branch in a planter box.
The children began pouring out of their classrooms; everyone was dressed in bright and strange costumes. When he saw Jamie, Jack scooped up some snow from the ground and threw it at him. Instantly seeing Jack in the corner of the playground, the child ran towards him. The frost elf got down from the tree and hugged the excited boy.
"Jack, I'm so happy to see you!" Jamie exclaimed. His friends soon caught up with him, and everyone showed Jack their costumes. Jamie was an explorer of the Amazon, Pippa was a black cat, Cupcake was a princess, Claude and Caleb were zombies, and Monty was a robot.
"Where's you costume?" Monty asked

"Jack? Jack? Wake up Jack." Jack's white eyes opened with a slight surprise. He quickly jumped up from his place on the bed, and wrapped his arms around Pitch's neck. The Boogeyman unprepared for the boy's hug immediately lost his balance and fell off the bed. Seeing Jack still clung to him, Pitch laughed. "I can see you're affectionate."
"Yeah." The Nightmare King stood up, but the frost elf refused to let go. Not minding Jack's sentiment, he simply held the guardian as he headed out of the lair. The two headed out into the cold night, where a small army of nightmares awaited for them.
Although it pained him to do so, Pitch removed the boy from his person and placed him upon a nightmare. The Boogeyman placed himself behind jack, just in case worse came to worse, he'd easily be able to grab the frost elf's neck and return him to an obedient state. "Jack be prepared to hold on."

Walking towards the bed Pitch pried the boy away and placed him upon it. The Nightmare King sat down behind Jack, and tilted the guardian's head to the side. He pulled down the collar of Jack's sweatshirt and repeatedly kissed the frost elf's neck. A slight blush appeared on Jack's face, and a small gasp slipped out of his mouth.
"You're surprised Jack?" The boogeyman laughed slightly. "You're more innocent then I thought." Pitch reached his hand under Jack's shirt, and began caressing his chest, while still kissing the boy's neck. A slight moan escaped the boy's mouth. Pitch then rubbed Jack's thigh, causing the snow spirit to cringe. Despite Jack's age, he really was a kid at heart, and very unaccustomed to these sorts of sensations, so Pitch stopped, for he didn't want to overwhelm the frost elf.
The Nightmare King placed the boy on his lap, and held him like a small child. It was obvious that in their relationship Pitch was overprotective. It stayed that

"Worth it!" The boy shouted stumbling and falling into Pitch's arms. He rubbed his eyes tiredly. "I think I'm out of snow and ice."
"I wouldn't be surprised." Pitch said, picking Jack up. "You outdid yourself wherever it was winter, and a few other places as well." Jack smiled sheepishly as Pitch walked inside.
The two laid down in the warm bed and snuggled under the covers. "I can't wait until Jamie and his friends wake up." Jack yawned. "They're gonna be so surprised."

"I guess so. Sorry." Jack sat up and he suddenly realized there was strange light coming from outside Pitch's lair. They were the Northern Lights. "Pitch how long have those lights been out there?"
The boogeyman shrugged his shoulders. "About fifteen minutes."
"Shit," Jack shouted as he jumped out of bed and grabbed his staff. "Why didn't you tell me?! It'll take me another five minutes to get there!" The frost elf went to leave, when he suddenly felt his hood grabbed, and was lifted off the ground so that he and Pitch met eye to eye. "Put me down! I gotta go!"

"What did Pitch do to him?" Tooth asked, horrified by Jack's obvious hatred for them.
"Some sort of spell," Bunnymund stated stepping closer. He grabbed the guardian's chin, lifting up his head, despite Jack's cold stare. "There's strange markings all over his neck." Without warning Bunny's paw was frozen over. "Cranky!" He said jumping back. A sly smirk appeared on Jack's face. "Oh just wait 'till I get my hands on Pitch, I'll-"

Jamie woke up with slight surprise. He sat up, wondering what had happened last night. Originally Jamie had a good dream, which turned into a nightmare, then much later back to a dream. The child got out of bed and walked to the window, where out of the corner of his eyes he saw black sand. "What?"
Jamie now very much confused, opened the window, and there on the windowsill was a small pile of black sand. "Uh oh." Thinking quick he grabbed an old mitten and scooped the sand into it. He then threw on some warm clothes and headed out the door. He ran outside to find that Monty, Cupcake, Pippa, Claude and Caleb were already waiting for him.

It had been four days since Jack discovered he had feelings for Pitch, and he was doing his best to try and push the man out of his mind. It wasn't easy however, because he kept having strange dreams revolving around the Nightmare King. The dreams weren't nightmares, they were simply his mind fulfilling the fantasies he so desired. The poor boy was so conflicted, he felt guilty for loving Pitch, but he also longed to see the Boogeyman again. "What am I gonna do?"
As the sun began to set on the fifth day, Pitch was frustrated and annoyed. He knew Jack was at odds with how he felt, but he expected the boy would have come back by now. The Nightmare King was slightly offended by the fact the frost elf had stayed away. "Think you can just leave and never come back, hmm?" Pitch thought aloud. A cloud of sand whipped around the boogeyman, and when it settled down, Pitch was gone.
