This was on my to-draw list for a long time, and since the recent passing of George Jones, I thought I would finally get this done. I know probably half of the people who see this, don't even know who George Jones is, and probably half of those people don't even listen to country music. But, that's okay, this was just for me.
So, with that said, grab a beer and some tissue and enjoy the best country song ever.....[link]

I understand this attire is Scottish culture and probably wouldn't be called eccentric in Scotland, but being from Mississippi that is the first thing that popped into my head when I seen the original photo. No disrespect intended.

  This is my very first painting I have ever finished. I have dabbled with paint before but nothing too seriously. I usually work with art pens or ballpoint pens but I have gotten burnt out with them. They are extremely time consuming and unforgiving. So. I thought I would try my hand at painting. If there are any good painters out there that could give me some advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
  I thought maybe I would start with black and white for now and slowly introduce a little color as time goes on.

I have drawn this a couple of years ago in art pens. Here is that drawing:

What can I say, I like Willlie! The image was found on google, but this was just for practice and just for me.

Finally finished this one! I am utterly proud of the result, I'm not going to hide it. :D

So, let's talk about the process... Which is pretty straightforward:

- I used a grid to draw the initial outline of the drawing with a mechanical pencil, 0,5 HB.
- Erased the grid.
- Shaded with a ballpoint pen.

Tools (it's pretty easy :)):
- Winsor&Newton A5 sketchbook 170gsm;
- Mechanical pencil, 0,5 HB;
- Regular eraser (to erase the grid);
- Black Bic Crystal Medium ballpoint pen.

Time: Around 30 hours.

This is my first attempt at ballpoint pen, which is kinda of ironic since I am a co-founder of the Ballpoint Masters [link] ! Although I did use a few references for the pattern of the Diamond back and the anatomy of the snakes mouth, everything else came from my simple little noggin!
