Secret to Success: Draw with your balls outHappy new ears my brothers and sisters. I hope you had a good break, but now its time to get back to work! And Ry here has a pro tip for you, something I have kept to myself but I think you as an artist should know about and adapt this habit. Its actually not that complicated, you should just always Draw with your balls out.Secret to Success: Draw with your balls out2 years ago in Personal More Like This
A wise man by the name of John Rambo once told us that we should 'Stay ballsy'. We should not let our fear overtake us, we should dive head in into obstacles and fight the demons without fear and without worries. Well I have taken that approach and incorporated it into my drawing, believe it or not I have never been confident about my artworks, even if it is something I spent 24 hours on I still have doubt whether its good enough to show or not, especially when it is for work and I know I am being judged on.. thats why it always takes so long for me to finish an art piece because I keep looking at it and try to fix stuff that probably no one would ever notic
I will not be subjected to criminal abuseIts time for another story, do you guys want a story? I will give you one. This one is about my early days in the work industry and how you should always becareful and know your legal rights before you head in, you do not want to be subjected to criminal abuse without knowing. This happened a few years back, straight out of Design College, when I was still an 'Amateur Graphic Designer' as they like to call me. So I was searching online for jobs and found one that requires a Graphic Designer with artistic skills who can create original characters as well as making little icons and graphics stuff. I was like HELL YEAH THATS ME, so I sent them my portfolio, back then it had really unprofessional messy drawings and then a few graphic design works and photography bullshit pieces that I threw in here and there to show my 'range', I didn't have a consistant style and I had no idea what people wanted to see lol. So the company saw my work and they told me to come in. I was reallyI will not be subjected to criminal abuse2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Alleyway IncidentHiya Ryceballs. I left out something on my previous journal, something I kinda wanted to talk about but was a bit scared to... But I have decided that maybe its better to get it off my chest. This is a true story and it happened two weeks ago while I was in Melbourne for Armageddon Expo, it was a sunday night, I had a long day selling artworks and I was back in the hotel room chilling, at around 10pm I got hungry and realised I don't have much to eat, I didn't wanna call room service because I wasn't sure if food is still available that late. So knowing the 24/7 grocery store is just a block away, I decided to head out to buy a cup noodle or something. It was pretty dark outside with a bit of rain as well, much to my annoyance, but I was really really hungry. Now the proper way to get to the grocery store is to walk around the block, OR I can take a shortcut and go through the alleyway.... I tend to always walk around the block as I didn't wanna get mugged, if Batman has taught me anytAlleyway Incident2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Wack'em Sinteeeeek 13HD ReviewHiya Ryceballs. As some of you know, I was askin for opinions a few journals back about the Wacom Cintiq, you lovely people gave me some great advice and tips and one even went as far as to find me an Australian website with a cheaper price. And she saved me $200, so special thanks to KokoroKanon for doing that. So yes I have been using the Wacom for more than a week now, I didn't wanna write a review until I get the SmudgeGuard, a SmudgeGuard is pretty much looks like a glove cut in half, it looks like a futuristic glove in Minority Report, the reason I wanted a SmudgeGuard is because I tend to get sweaty hands so I did not wanna dirty the Cintiq screen at all, it costed me around $20 to get that. An alternative is just buy a cheap glove and cut off the top three fingers.... you can then use the cut off three fingers glove and put it on your head so you can pretend to be chicken.Wack'em Sinteeeeek 13HD Review2 years ago in Personal More Like This
OK so was the Cintiq what I expected? Well pretty much yea. Its a nice little screen th
That art thief SOB in the Artist AlleyOk here it is, the long awaited journal about that art thief guy at Animania a few weeks back, I promised I will write about it and here it is. I thought a lot about whether I should write about this because if its just a random art thief then I really don't mind dissing his grass.. but unfortunately that S.O.B also happens to be the brother of a High School friend of mine... :icontableflipplz:That art thief SOB in the Artist Alley2 years ago in Personal More Like This
This whole thing occurred in an anime convention that has been going downhill since a few years back, every year it gets worse and worse, to the point that I am now calling it Emptimania. It is no secret that the management is terrible, and that includes making sure that there are no bootleg stores around.... I don't know if they are just ignorant that there are bootleg stores there, or whether they dont give a duck because hey they get money from people getting a table. So anyway I was at the artist alley selling my things like usual, then a couple of tables down I noticed a guy, he looked fami
Symbol(s) for the non Premium DeviantsHello my Ryceballs. So eversince DA's recent symbol changes, I have been hearing a lot of complaints. Mostly about how regular non premium members don't even get a symbol. It makes them feel like they are not important. Its ok I hear ya I hear ya. And you know me, I am all about the people. Ry-Spirit cares. So I thought about this a lot and try to think of an appropriate symbol that best suits our non premium friends, at the end I came up with a symbol... WELL I say a symbol but its more like a string of symbols. I feel like this is the only option for it to work. And I have used myself as an example of what the symbols would look like if I am in fact a regular deviant. Ok please look below.Symbol(s) for the non Premium Deviants2 years ago in Personal More Like This
You may need to right click and view the image to see the whole thing. Now what does it mean? I will tell you. It stands for "Sad because no money therefore no premium membership and seems like Im not considered an artist argh *swears*.. Sigh.. oh well.. I have an idea, look I'll continue to
Back from RysolationDear Ryceballs. I have returned. It was a short hiatus, but it was a necessary one. I traveled miles and miles on foot into the Indian Desert by myself, in hope that I would be able to find my missing soul, cos thats what people do when they wanna find their soul right? They always go to India. I called it my 'rysolation period'. So I was out soul searching. On my journey, people has been encouraging to me, giving me kind words and needed motivational speeches, I thank you, you know who you are. I think I am more collected and positive now. Yeah I think I am back. Oh also on my soul search I have had time to work out some 'things'. So yeah look forward to more 'things' from me in the future. The desert was hot as hell by the way, don't really recommend it, what my soul was doing there is beyond me.Back from Rysolation2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Questioned by the Hong Kong PoliceSo where was I? Oh yes I was gonna talk about my experiences with the Hong Kong police, so here goes. OK this is the problem, whenever I visit Hong Kong I always have the fear of being questioned by the police, well not exactly fear because I've got nothing to hide, but whenever I am alone walking on the street and a policeman on patrol sees me, they would ALWAYS 100% stop and ask for my ID. For those ain't familiar with how things work in Hong Kong is that if they see a teenager (Especially male) on the street not in their school uniform during school time or with dyed hair or pretty much just 'gangster' or suspicious looking, they have the right to stop you in the middle of nowhere and question you. Now I match every bit of suspicion possible, what they are trying to check is if there's any sort of crime around the area so they can narrow down the suspects, or to check whether you are legal to be in Hong Kong, or whether you've got drugs on you. Anyway when I was in Hong Kong a monthQuestioned by the Hong Kong Police3 years ago in Personal More Like This

How did the introduction of Jazz, Crazes and popular media influence the American populace during the early 1920s?
Brilliant question Silverpoint345, well well well firstly the American public heard the music and was like "HELL NAH THIS AINT MUSIC" cos in the 1920s everyone was kinda boring and didn't do much except for talkin about the weather, then after a while they became more open minded and were like "HELL YEAH THIS IS MY KINDA SH*T" and the

Anyway, Uncle Ry has an embarrassing story to share, since it was basically the start of my really cool badboy senpai image.
This was me as a kid:
As you can see, I still have that charming smile even now. Just look at dem eyes. I was definitely the senpai of all my girl classmates.
Ok guys, no need to stare for too long, I know I'm good looking but we gotta get to the point ok? :'I You know those kids in movies where some freak accident happens and they are always the hero? Me and Photoshop met some time in the 2003? (Its been 10 years already?!) She was introduced to me by my cousin. At first I didn't know what to do with her, I just started playing around with photos, like adding flames on my hair, going all nuts with filters, editing clothes off of my favourite celebrities (Yeahhh I did that. Don't judge mE! ;___; ). We got along quite well, I was surprised that I could just know a few tools and do something crazy with it! I think I was using Photoshop version 7 and being quite happy with all the tools and filters I got. It was a good start

Hi its me your somtimes friendly neighbourhood Ry-Man. Ok I've been playing Injustice: Dogs Among Us :I. And kinda in a superhero mood at the moment, especially after playing the story of Injustice.. and without spoiling too much, pretty much the story starts off with Superman being tricked into killing Lois and their unborn child, which in turn changed Superman into killing his enemies and eventually turning into an asshole. I like how it shows that even heroes can have a dark side to them. This got me thinking... what if I had super powers? Would I use it to help others or just benefit myself? Would I use it for good or evil? Will my believe be the same as most people in the world? Or different from everyone? (Which would in turn make me a villain). Am I asking myself too many questions and worry that I might one day turn into a crazy woman with 20 cats? HMMMMM I WONDER!

Ash had Gary Oak, Goku had Vegeta, Naruto had Sasuke. Do you believe that having a rival can help you improve in whatever you do? I do. I remember back in High School I got lots of praises from my classmates for being the greatest at drawing, I liked to draw in my diaries and homeworks alot Which explains why my marks were soooo FREAKIN TERRIBLE!. And there was a friend (I used the term very loosely) who would always try to find ways to make people feel like crap, this time it was no exception, he figured out what I liked and stabbed that piece of pure innocent heart with a sharp poisonous knife, he told me my drawings is poo compared to this other guy our year, I have never seen that guy's artworks before so my friend went as far as to sneak into the library storage room where everyone left their bags at, opened up the guy's bag an

SAY HELLO TO YOUR THIRD UNCLE'S WIFE'S MOTHER'S BROTHER'S SON'S STEP SISTER'S CAT'S COUSIN'S FATHER'S OWNER'S DAUGHTER'S SECOND BROTHER: Thats me in the middle (Not really) reading a book with a lot of relatives looking at me with their creepy faces. The thing is that all of those uncles has different unique titles, like 2nd uncle, 3rd uncle, 4th uncle. Then it can get more complicated like 2nd uncle's son, 3rd uncle's daughter. Then it can get even more complicated when you have to remember the title for relatives like your uncle's son's wife's mother's brother! And trust me even a complicated link like that has a unique title in chinese, and I am supposed to remember the title... Oh by the way as a duty from the youngest person in the family
First impressions of Wii U + Meeting my idolWhats up guys, before I start talking about Wii U, just a quick update on what happened yesterday. I had to go to the Rocks to sell my artworks, the event was outdoors and silly me didn't think of that, so it was hot as hell and my trip to the place was tiring as F, I should've driven.. and when I opened my store it was really windy.... at one point it even started raining, but we had a shelter so it wasn't that bad, business was quiet as there were a lot less people than expected. My fund towards the RINOAWUF (Ry in need of a Wii U Foundation) didn't work out too well, but I got a Wii U anyway, however ONE incident made everything better. For those who just wanna hear about the Wii U, skip to the next paragraph, for those who are bored enough to listen to my idol story, stick around. Right, so I looked over to other stores and saw a guy with a hat pulled down low, he was buying rings from my next store neighbour, I took a longer look and realised he was someone I admired for liFirst impressions of Wii U + Meeting my idol2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Tales of the missing Car Park TicketThis happened two days ago when I had to go to a shopping mall called Westfield. I was there to receive my copy of Zelda Skyward Sword as well as trading in the frustrating Goldeneye Reloaded for possibly Skyrim.Tales of the missing Car Park Ticket4 years ago in Personal More Like This
The story begins as I drove to Westfield, got into the car park, its one of those car parks that requires you to get a ticket and if you are only there for 3 hours or less you wouldn't need to pay anything, then they charge you per hour after etc etc. My mind was still deep in thoughts about my grandfather's death that happened a few days ago so I wasn't really paying attention to what's happening around me. So I got into the shopping mall, got Skyward Sword, got rid of the stupid annoying Goldeneye Reloaded and traded it in for Skyrim. I then walked around the mall a little bit, went into Toys R Us and wandered around like a pedophile, I even went into the girls section for a bit (What? I like Monster High, don't judge me.) I spent around half an hour in the mall pretty much,
A RetrospectiveHello Ryceballs! So I was looking through my god awful gallery the other day and had a nostalgic moment when I saw some of my old artworks, I am happy to say that I have improved over the 5 years stay here on Deviantart (Thank god...). So I just want to show you a few of my earlier artworks and talk a little about the story behind each one of them. I must admit that the early artworks you see on this list is not REALLY the first few artworks I uploaded on Deviantart, but I have since got rid of my even older ones because I really really dislike them, I don't want you guys to vomit blood ok. If you guys REALLY want to see the ones I have deleted.. I guess I can dig into the abyss of my old computer and find it. Anyways here goes!A Retrospective2 years ago in Personal More Like This

EB expo Sydney 2012 (WITH PHOTOS)So me and :iconhehalana: and :iconnabari: went to EB expo last Sunday, it was good thing we chose Sunday and not Saturday because not a lot of people were there so we got to try lots of games and get a lot of free stuff the booth people were trying to get rid of. We even got like a whole stack of Mickey Mouse stickers it was amazing. I cosplayed as Kato from the Green Hornet, I couldn't breath properly the whole day cos the mask was squishing my nose.. Alana cosplayed as Aigis from Persona 3, Nabari as Sakura from Street Fighter, three unrelated cosplay. For those who don't know what EB expo is, its pretty much like a miniature version of E3, there was no Miyamoto, there was no Kojima, but we did get Ed Boon and Charle Martinet (The voice of Mario) so it was good enough for me.EB expo Sydney 2012 (WITH PHOTOS)3 years ago in Personal More Like This

Thats a picture of me when I was punched by two boys. Im sure bullying happens to EVERYONE, whether you are a jock, emo, geek, gay, straight, tall, short or any other school stereotype you are ALWAYS not safe from bullying. For me personally, I was a polite kid who tries to be nice to everyone, but my kindness has sometimes gone punished, for example in primary school my school friends decided to take advantage of my purity and ignorance and shyness and bully me, mostly to make themselves feel better and for them to have something to laugh about. They would make fun of my loving family too, how I got a mum and dad, cos they are single parented so
