The Leviathan and the Death of HopeWarning: contains spoilers concerning the Leviathan DLC, Mass Effect 3 and my notions about what good writing is. Duh.The Leviathan and the Death of Hope3 years ago in Personal More Like This
There are moments when I wish I could just turn off my writer's sense at a whim and "just go with it". Ignore that a story in a game, or a movie, or a book, or a TV show is flawed in my opinion, just to enjoy the views, get an adrenaline rush from all the flashing colors and have fun. And truth be told - it usually works that way... Just not for the universes I tend to care about. If you got me invested in your franchise, I will expect you to deliver the goods. 'Tis how the cookie crumbles.
Which brings me to the Leviathan DLC. I've seen a lot of positive reviews and emotions towards it popping up all over the internet before I was even able to check it out myself. My hopes were high, and, initially, I loved it. It had a sense of exploration Mass Effect 3 was seriously lacking and the TGES Mining Base really reminded me of Noveria... It was spot on.

The State of Web Comics + My Intentions with SYACAbout SYACThe State of Web Comics + My Intentions with SYAC1 year ago in Personal More Like This
One of the reasons I focus so much attention on Marvel and DC is because they’re big companies who should know better. They are made up by hundreds of people all chipping in little bits here and there, and for that there is no excuse for bad artwork, bad writing, or bad material in general. They are, to an extent, a bit of a cheap shot, but everyone can learn from their mistakes and I can offer my opinions about them and what I personally would do differently. And if you’re paying money for their products, I think you deserve good content in return, no?
SYAC is, at it’s core, about how comic artists and the comic industry works and poking fun at the various things they get wrong... and sadly that includes a lot of really hot button topics like Women’s Rights, Sexism, Racism, Homophobia, etc. Comics are no longer their own sheltered little thing... they’ve been THRUST into the mainstream audience and all of these problems we or

Microsoft's lead creative director Adam Orth got angry over the backlash always online DRM has gotten lately (thanks in no small part to Sim City and Diablo III), and decided to take his frustrations to twitter. Orth made a plethora of sarcastic remarks, insulting people's place of residence, and mocking anyone not rich enough to always have an internet connection. By doing so, not only did he make himself look like an ass, he may have inadvertently revealed that the upcoming XBOX 720 may include always online DRM. Nice...
Since he's made his twitter account personal, you'll have to visit this http://www.screwattack.com/news/microsoft-lead-creative-director-uses-twitter-defend-rumored-always-xbox-720 to see a sampling of the remarks he made.
Speaking of "unprofessional," what's with the influx of spammers lately?
I know that DA has had long running problems with it, but I just got like 8 spams in a row on just one of my deviations.
Lots of updates... again.Back From Another TripLots of updates... again.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've been away for the past week and a half on a trip. I've tried to stay mostly in contact but since I've been away from my computer I haven't been able to update all my various outlets as much as I would like to. I even drew the two latest brentalfloss comics while on my mini "vacation" too, so no rest for the weary! It's probably gonna take me another day or two to get completely caught up, but I have a LOT of new stuff I wanna tackle. I'm working on not rushing everything out, but sometimes when you got a lot you want to do it's hard to focus on just one project. Anyway, I'm back now and I hope to be back to posting more regularly soon!
To the 1st and 2nd place winners of the SYAC in London contest from last month, I just wanted to let you know that your prizes have been shipped and you should be getting them soon. Please please PLEASE tell me if, by the middle of next week, you don't receive your prizes and I'll look into it.
Skyrim - DLC - First ImpressionsPlease keep in mind this is first impressions, and I haven't really played through much of any of them yet. Just enough to get an "idea" of where it's going and how the new gameplay works.Skyrim - DLC - First Impressions2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I decided to download the 3 DLC packs for Skyrim to help liven things up. It took quite a bit of tinkering to get it to work, but I finally got them installed and running properly. Just thought I’d give y’all my first impressions from them since I installed them all at the same time.
First up, the update actually greatly improved my frame rate and runs the game a LOT smoother than it was before. However, that came at the price of the controls. All the buttons got re-mapped to weird combos and some buttons don’t do the same thing anymore even when reassigned. It also adjusted the vertical speed of the cursor (something I originally complained about), but because I got use to the broken cursor, this improvement actually felt kinda... odd at first. I’m still tr

The man played a whole range of characters, from Smee (Hook) to Khrushchev (Enemy at the Gates) but he'll probably be remembered (and envied by those of us with a looser grip on reality) for his role as Eddie Valiant, the LA gumshoe from Who Framed Roger Rabbit whom the badly-drawn Jessica bounced off, slunk around and serenaded.
For that, I think we'll all forgive him for Mario Bros.

A Rant about Abstract Art:Hey there people! Let's gab about abstract art.A Rant about Abstract Art:3 years ago in Personal More Like This
To start, I hate it. I both love it at the same time. That's the nature of that art. Abstract art is meant to evoke an emotion out of you, in a minimalist way or in a complex one, that's the main goal of art in general, is to evoke emotion and responses. And I guess since i'm writing about it despite my loathing nature for the majority of it, I guess it's successful either way. So let me just blab out the main point of this.
Abstract art is often shat out by people who can't fully grasp the concept of their own work themselves. They rely on the general stupidity of the public to crap out an explanation, then they sit there and go: 'Yes. My large, purple square IS the embodiment of pure energy and the personification of the world.' Then people who see it and DON'T get a response, like the majority, rely on this sort of guilty clause to believe what some pompous dingbat shat out, and it continues on that way. WOW! I made a great picture! ON

Ok, MANY of you have been asking about this, so I suppose it's an interesting topic worth making a journal entry about! Some lucky ones amongs you have already heard this story during my first (and only) live chat ever, some time ago.
For the others, here's the story...
I was a teenager (midway through high school) and I had never, EVER heard of things like foot fetish, foot worshipping etc. before. Neither I was interested in feet by any means.
Now, there was this guy... I was totally captivated by him. I can say I fell in love for him from the first day I've ever seen him. Not only a handsome, beautiful boy, but most importantly charismatic, smart, colorful, unpredictable. He was amazing, period.
I wanted him to be my boyfriend so bad. But there was a problem.
He was a libertine. A womanizer, or whatever you want to call him (in Italy we say "Dongiovanni

I have never found a companion who was so companionable as solitude.
Henry David Thoreau
By :icontechgnotic: techgnotic
I I always thought of Thoreau’s comment as simply a word game — clever but ultimately false at its core. A Valentines Day without a Valentine means being alone and alone means being unhappy. It’s taken many years to finally understand the truth in Thoreau’s words. We are never so alone as when in the company of loving family and friends, our Valentine companion held tight in our arms – but knowing we are lost, unfulfilled in our dreams and visions, and untrusting in our own inner counsel. Now I hope to one day seek companions

OBJECTIVE: SELL THIS DAMN BOOK, DANNY.
At first, Gabriel was nothing more than a character named ONE. He had no backstory, no face, nothing. I just wanted to create a character that was a badass, yet with a sense of humor.
I was inspired by such characters as Boba Fett, Wolverine, Deadpool and Clint Eastwood from The Man With No Name trilogy. I needed to create something that fit that build, however, I'll admit, it wasn't intended at first.
I uploaded him on December 8th, 2008, (which, you can find here: http://danluvisiart.deviantart.com/art/GABRIEL-107612010?q=gallery%3Adanluvisiart%2F7848546&qo=50) and he became one of the most popular characters of the series, if not, the most. Soon I started finding him on forums, websites, fashion blogs (what?), and more.
But what hit me so hard was that the majority of the comments rela

Human ExistenceA few lines of expressing myself ~Human Existence8 months ago in Personal More Like This
Randomly written in one of Septembers beautiful nighthours~
I was scrolling through some pictures lately and saw a quote-picture saying the following
'There is so much intelligent life out there, it's just been to intelligent to come here'
Now you will experience a clash of spheres - I take you on a journey how I see life,
how I live daily and in which kind of consciousness I awake each day,
and leave to the realms of dreams, our little dead, each night.
Here and now I will tell you how I see existence and experience life.
The life we are experiencing in this human form simulates some certain range of options and
ways of thinking, which from human sight is considered as 'intelligence'.
While behind this all we are the 'intelligent life (or whatever..these words are too imprecise)' somewhere out there, getting in a simulation 'here' to grow and experience.
Life on Earth is the simulation for a small piece of our

You are not expected to clean up your messes in food courts or.. anywhere actually (Janitors come by and clean up for you. Has something to do with security and getting rid of bomb threats).
Elevators are called Lifts.
Air conditioning seems scarce.
