They will say:
He had a spark.
He made me smile.
He made me laugh.
He was more than a face in the crowd.
He will never know what he meant to others.
But is that just Robin Williams, or isn't that all of us.
Depression tells us, no matter what anyone else has to say, it has exclusive rights on the truth. But depression tells us lie after lie. Depression hates you more than anyone else could. Depression repeats and multiplies all the hurts the world dishes out.
Depression does not know your true value.
No matter how loudly depression shouts, there is reason not to listen. Please know that whatever hate it may spew, you are worth more because you are you.*

TIPS AND ADVICEOver the last few weeks I’ve been getting lots of requests for tips and advice. So I thought instead of answering each one I will give an overall guide to what I’ve learnt over the last year using graphite. And some of the things I’m going to say may sound very obvious but I’m trying to cater for artists of all levels so just ignore the bits you already know (I apologise for how long this is).TIPS AND ADVICE2 years ago in Personal More Like This
But before I go on I must point out though, that I am no expert and this is just what I’ve found works for me so may not work for everyone. And I have only really started getting used to using graphite pencils recently, as I had not drawn for 11 years until September 2012. And so I am still learning myself and have only found out what works for me from allot of practising and trial and error. Also I am not going to go into doing skin textures as I’m still learning what works and it’s far too complicated to describe on here.

Art is my DRUG :)Hello everybodyArt is my DRUG :)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
by far, this is the biggest doodle ive ever done in my life and i think im going to make more big artwork like this later in the future.
it took a lot of time to make it , it has so much marker ink that smells really strong ,a lot of inspirations to create the patterns and also a lot of FUN.......!!!!
i think making arts is all about having fun. it is about making yourself happy.
art is about deliberating yourself to make something that you really like. it is your personal taste, your personal choice.
And now that i have finally found my passion, which is obviously art and i enjoy making it, i finally feel free to say that ART IS MY DRUG.
i hope you guys also find what your passion is, and if you want to do something and you know it is good for you, just do it.
just do it like there's no tomorrow. we don't know what will happen in the future, but we k
The 'Method'I'm often asked if I use a projector, a printed canvas or grid for my paintings. The 'Method'2 years ago in Personal More Like This
To be blunt, the answer is simple 'no'.
I do use several vertical & horizontal lines as the guide to put the object in the right position
only when the canvas is big(over 1m high).
The reason I don't use those technical methods is simple;
I'm an old-fashioned man!
I consider myself more of an old craftsman than an artist in modern-day concept.
For me, practicing and perfecting my craft is as important as creating a good piece of art.
Some people say the process doesn't matter as long as you have a good outcome, but I don't believe that.
I don't feel completely happy with the outcome even though it looks near-perfect if I don't feel that my hard work is involved.
I may work much faster and easier if I use a projector or a printed canvas,
but I'd rather train myself harder and harder to be a more skilled and versatile painter.
After all, you won't need to spend that much money on buying a projector and print

Since it overwhelmed at the moment I posted it, I made a journal specifically for comments of screenshots just to go here!
The rules are simple, every 100 hugs I get on my counter (it's closer to the bottom of my page), I will give 10 points to the deviant that screenshots it first! :'D
This is a easier type of kiriban because how many times you can click is unlimited!
Now go try now! Go to my page! artvelocity

PE: Step into realismRealismPE: Step into realism2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
What is realism?
Realistic art is art that captures so much detail, it looks almost real/photographic. Fantasy art can also be realism if it the level of shading/tones/ details create a photographic appearance. Realistic art is quite mind blowing. In realism, there are is no lineart. Usually, there is a giant range of tones and colors that breathe together. If it is monochrome, the tones are equally as varied, but greyscale instead.
Take a look at some breath taking pieces of art:
Celebrating Diversity HubWelcome to the Celebrating Diversity Hub This is a collection of all the articles that have been posted under this theme.Celebrating Diversity Hub2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
We live in a world full of diversity, every day in real life and every day on dA. And it happens so often that a work of art is "slashed" simply because it is different than others. Because someone sees it and doesn't understand it and doesn't take the time to think about it.
People who react like that to art, follow the same thought process, that so many many people follow when it comes to Racism, Sexism, Homophobia: "This is different to me, therefore it must be wrong." You may wonder if that comparison may not be too harsh, but when we open they way for people to condemn what is different in the small things, like in this case Art, we open the path to that thought process taking shape in many more places.
Instead of hating on differences, we need to embrace them! Because differences make life so great! We don't want to live in a dull world where everyone think
Choose your RivalHi there Ryceballs it is I Ry-Spirit of the East. Here to talk about something that I have never mentioned much before.. And that is the topic of 'Rivals'.Choose your Rival2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Ash had Gary Oak, Goku had Vegeta, Naruto had Sasuke. Do you believe that having a rival can help you improve in whatever you do? I do. I remember back in High School I got lots of praises from my classmates for being the greatest at drawing, I liked to draw in my diaries and homeworks alot Which explains why my marks were soooo FREAKIN TERRIBLE!. And there was a friend (I used the term very loosely) who would always try to find ways to make people feel like crap, this time it was no exception, he figured out what I liked and stabbed that piece of pure innocent heart with a sharp poisonous knife, he told me my drawings is poo compared to this other guy our year, I have never seen that guy's artworks before so my friend went as far as to sneak into the library storage room where everyone left their bags at, opened up the guy's bag an

I just adore him. I personally feel he deserves so much recognition. Our game (Farewell Nightingale) wouldn't have even been started if it wasn't for him.
And It's SO amazing and fun so far. We hope that people enjoy it for the story and hand (hand drawn) style when it's released!
But srsly, you guys don't understand. He helps me continue being a good person, helps me with my art, gives me the drive to start and finish things.
If it weren't for him, I'd probably have stopped drawing a long time ago.

Let's Learn Portraiture: Natural LightingWelcome to the second installment of Let's Learn Portraiture! The previous installment was about Model Communication. For this installment, we will be tackling a topic for those photographers who enjoy taking portraits outdoors.Let's Learn Portraiture: Natural Lighting3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Portraiture with Natural Lighting
1.) Avoid Direct Sunlight
While it can really bring out the color of the eyes and make them pop, having your model stare into the sun should never be on the agenda. Not only is it exceedingly uncomfortable for your model, but it casts very harsh shadows. In most cases, you want to position your model with the sun behind them, or to the side. This will illuminate the hair and offer a nice glow. The issue then is that the subject's face may be too dark (underexposed). To solve this, you can bounce some light back into th

If you don't know what a Munny is, then go right to the search bar here on DeviantART and type 'Munny' - you'll find loads of cool stuff
Do it now and read this journal afterwards!
So, well, it all started with scribble-rapo introducing me to the world of Munny and Trikky dolls. I was just amazed at how much one could do with a Munny, so I ordered some, or.. *cough* six of them *cough*
And I got them in the mail yesterday
I was well prepared, I'd gotten almost everything I needed ('cept the primer, which is pretty important, but I'll get that one later), so I actually got started on it yesterday - making my own Munny
I had loads of ideas for what type of figure to make, but oh so typical of me; I started with the hardest one. Spike. I mean, his hair is going to be a pain to make XD lol
Anyways, if someone's interested, I posted some progress photos in my blog. yes, I actually have a blog...! But it's in Norweg
Artist's Toolbox: Drawing Manga (comic)Artist's Toolbox: Creating your own manga!Artist's Toolbox: Drawing Manga (comic)2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Before we start, I think it's important to keep in mind that drawing manga pages is a very demanding task that requires a lot of time but also, a lot of knowledge in many aspects of illustration such as general drawing, perspectives, anatomy... but it also requires writing skills, for you will need to come up with an interesting plot, dialogue, narrative and more things that will guarantee that your storytelling will go hand in hand with the art in each page. This might seem complicated, but don't fret It is a very fun and rewarding experience that no one should miss! Give it your best shot!
Brief summary of steps to create a manga
Write down your ideas! Polish the plot, analyze the time-space continuum, make sure the idea is exciting and doesn't have plot-holes.
Design your characters! Give them personalities. Remember to have a nice balance of
