Flight Rising: The Guardians choiceHe knew it would happen soon; he could feel it. The air was thick; expectant. There was a familiar kind of pressure in the air, a pressure that he could feel even through his armour-like scales. Kreyn stretched his claws in anticipation, casually carving grooves into the stone beneath his feet.Flight Rising: The Guardians choice3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Overhead the sky was a shifting sea of grey. Soon.
The young Guardian dragon turned his eyes to the towering monoliths surrounding him, and the massive structures built on top of them. He tried to pick which spire would be the one to catch the lightning. Which one? It would be--
The lightning struck the spire closest to him, and the entire world went white. Kreyn closed his eyes, but even so the after image still lingered. He could still see the spire wreathed in impossibly white light, burning so bright it hurt. It was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Although he didn't know it, a smile was plastered on his face.
When sound returned he heard the rattle and hiss of machinery

DiscordHere, in darkness of my prison, unmoving, I have laid here for hundreds of years. A god does not need food, water, air or sunlight. Eternity can be unbearable if you have nothing to keep you occupied. And what can you do, if you are locked in dark, cramped chamber, surrounded by all types of magical barriers?Discord4 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
You start looking for a gap.
I still remember my sweet, beautiful Nightmare Moon, so bright and so proud. She would smash these locks, break the barriers apart. Leave nothing but slightest embers of magic, which would melt into her magnificent black mane. And then, she would make night and shadow itself kneel before its true goddess. But I am not strong enough. My powers pale in comparison to those of Nightmare Moon.
The only thing I am good at - is spreading seeds of chaos. To look for contradictions and create strife and discord.
That is why I'm not fighting my barriers. No, I listen to them; I seek out the gaps between two layers of defensive magic. Cracks within the shields wh

#97) I am an open brony with everyone, except my parents. I'd tell them, but my dad will not approve. He even disapproved and called me gay when I was really into "Phineas and Ferb". Imagine if he found out [about "Friendship is Magic"]! There's no way he would approve. But I want to buy merchandise, shirts, and other stuff. So what do you think I should do about telling my parents?
Answer: Your dad sounds like a royal prick. I don't know what his upbringing was like, but your sexuality isn't defined by watching a simple TV show. "Phineas and Ferb" might be geared towards an audience younger than yourself, but I'm not sure why it would be considered, in his eyes, to be 'gay'. I think he might be getting mixed up between watching something that's distinctly effeminate and watching something that targets kids in general. If anything, "Phineas and Ferb" is a show pitched at boys (although, naturally, it does have universal appeal) and so I can see why you'd be worried about
Flight Rising: the diplomacy of childrenSun on the water, seaweed falling over the backs of dragons. My father put his head down and stirred the mud with his horn. Sluggish fish, scared into action. His left forepaw, the one that had been sitting still in the mud for many heartbeats, rose up and caught the fish so fast and easily it could have been made of mud instead of flesh and bone; a rivulet of blood snaked through the water.Flight Rising: the diplomacy of children3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Good! Joy! I jumped around the shoreline, sending up silver splashes, overjoyed with the prospect of eating well tonight. My mother already had a pile of fish on the shore, some flapping their tails weakly against the hummock of grass we'd used to mark them as ours. Other ridgeback dragons stood on the shore or waded all up and down the length of the river, the largest and most senior at the top where the fish wouldn't suspect, from the smell of blood and the large shadows, that a hunting group had picked this spot. My uncle, his green skin almost black with age, headed our group.

Several ponies stood outside of the Ponyville Library angered by it being closed for two days straight. Fluttershy, Rarity, and Applejack were all trying their hardest to come up with a good story
"Why on Earth would Twilight Sparkle close this library for two days just to throw a party?!" asked one male pony.
"Yeah, I have several books that were due yesterday and now I've been charged extra for having to keep them longer!" said a female pony.
"Look everypony, we understand ya'll ain't too happy 'bout this " Applejack explained, " but Twilight has a very good reason for closin' the library, alright?"
"Then tell us this reason!"
"She's uh she's uh "
"She's sick." Fluttershy finished.
"Oh my, yes, very sick!" said Rarity, "So sick she couldn't even come out! She was afraid her illness would spread!"
"Yeah, we're guessin she ate too much junk food after that party " Applejack said.

Not a ChanceEven Fluttershy knew she was in over her head. A trip into the Everfree Forest alone was never a good idea, but the mice needed one of Zecora's more potent cures and time wasn't exactly on the mice's side. The trip there hadn't been so bad, but that had been during the day. Between the time it took to acquire the necessary materials for and make the potion, and a long friendly chat with the zebra, the sun had set long agoand under the canopy of the trees, it seemed even darker. Not a Chance3 years ago in Romance More Like This
It didn't look safe, but Fluttershy politely declined Zecora's offer of an escort (or an overnight stay) and started for her cottage. It was close enough to the edge of the forest that if she hurried, she could make it. At least, that's what she told herself. Mistake number one.
The still air was cut with a high, lonesome howl that sent chills racing down Fluttershy's spine. She remembered Applejack telling her about the timberwolves who lurked in the forest, the way she described the howls that once again

The bright light of Celestia's sun pierced though the storm clouds of last night's rain and beamed down on a leaf roofed cottage on the border of the Everfree forest. The pasty yellow curtains didn't stop the sunlight from waking the sleeping pegasus. Today was a new day, to bad it wasn't her day off.
"Ugh" said Rainbow Dash as she rose up from bed. "Where am I- oh yeah, Fluttershy's."
Rainbow Dash leaped off the bed in her normal fashion and started to make her way downstairs.
"Not bad for a feather bed, but clouds are still #1. It was so nice of her to let me sleep here tonight, let alone her own bed."
Rainbow Dash made her way to the kitchen, expecting a nice warm breakfast to be served. But found the yellow coated Pegasus to be fast asleep on the couch with her pet bunny, Angel.

It was a bright sunny day in the heart of Equestria. The ponies of Ponyville were out and about at their every day duties and activities. Inside Sugarcube Corner, the workers were busy creating the finest baked goods in the village. The pony named Cup Cake was walking through the shop checking on all her employees.
"These treats are looking good everypony. Keep up the good work!" she encouraged them. But nearby, some ponies were having issues.
One pony was busy making a delectable little cupcake on her worktable when she ran out of icing in her tube. She turned around to reach for a new one and then turned back only to find her cupcake gone.
"What the ? Hey, Pinkie Pie!!" she said turning to the adorable pink pony with icing and cake mix smeared all over her face.
"Oops ..were you working on that?" she asked.
"Um, yeah I was! Now I gotta start all over again, thanks!" said Pinkie's co-worker

I almost cried, though I expect to cry later, when it sets in.
I lost a friend today, and I don't know how to deal.
I almost lied, but that would be wrong, though I don't believe in sin.
I lost a friend today, and my days will never be the same
I almost choked, though I expect it will happen, when I am alone
I lost a friend today, and I will miss our secret game
I almost broke, but it is coming, from my eyes to my bones
I lost a friend today, and my heart will never heal.
I almost abide, though my mind says no, I can't breathe in air
I lost a friend today, and this poem is how I will deal
I almost cried, at the beginning, but now I feel the tears.

Spike was proud of his hoard, hundreds of years in the making, as well he should be: a dragon's cave is a sight that inspires legends, littered with precious metals, gems, and other artifacts and protected by a ferocious dragon. #73) My best bro and I have been bronies for a while now. I would never bring up being a brony on purpose to anyone who didn't know. But now we're doing a project in Literature class, and my friend is doing his on how he became a brony. I don't think it's a good idea. In fact, I find it embarrassing. What should I do?
Answer: This is something that seems to happen reasonably often people become big fans of "Friendship is Magic", and then fancy teaching the world to sing by shedding light on it in a class. And while you could argue that older individuals liking the show is an interesting point of observation, it's not particularly academic (not in terms of literature, at least) and so a presentation on it doesn't seem appropriate in general for that type of class.
It might be because I'm in the UK, but I know for a fact that if I presented on MLP in one of my university seminars I wouldn't be taken seriously by the teacher or the students. We tend to do

The next day, Rarity, Spike, and all their friends got together and used one of the big wagons they took from the Diamond Dogs the last time they encountered them. Applejack hauled it up the hill to the gem fields where they would find more gems for Rarity's dresses.
"Thank you so much for coming with me, everypony!" Rarity told them gratefully. "I thought this would be a good way for us all to spend the afternoon and help me at the same time! Spike's been such a good little helper, but I've been in serious need of a little more help."
