We would like to start off by saying congratulations to everyone who entered this extremely difficult Design Challenge. Cubism is a very specific type of art, and we applaud all the deviants who gave it a shot. We know the judges are going to have a difficult time as well when they have to narrow down the top 100 designs, voted for by you, the community, to only two winning designs. The two Finalists who are chosen will each win $1,500 cash, 10 messenger bags with their winning design printed on them, and their bags will be sold in the deviantART Shop!
We know, we know what you're thinking: get to the good stuff already! All right, you've asked for it. Here are the top 100 Cubism Messenger Bag Designs as voted for by you!

Mythical Creatures Semi-Finalists!We challenged everyone to come up with a mythical creature design featuring fantastical beasts renowned in folklore and myth. You gave us thousands of awesome designs with unicorns, dragons, monsters, and more, which were then voted on by the deviantART community. The results are epic -- even legendary! We've calculated the votes and now we're ready to present the 100 most-voted-for designs! From these designs our judges damphyr, IreneAdler76, and renonevada will narrow it down and pick the two Finalists. Each Finalist will be awarded $1,500 cash and receive 20 T-Shirts with their design printed on them to give away to friends and family. Plus, both T-Shirts will be available for purchase in the deviantART T-Shirts & Gear Shop.Mythical Creatures Semi-Finalists!2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Lunar Days Sim Date Info It's out now~ Have fun and happy new year~Lunar Days Sim Date Info3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Sooo much for being lazy. Got this journal done a lot soon than expected.
Da dun dun dun daaaaaa~ ♫
This is my current project: Lunar Days Sim Date. Here, I already made a FAQ so don't ask unnecessary questions:
Q: Release date?
idk. tba. Maybe around 2012 like how it says on the poster above?Around January 2012...
Q: How many characters are datable?
A: Eight. Four are unlockable though.
Q: What about Xolga and Mr. Toko? ;A;
A: Like Chrono Days, they will be running shops in this game. Mr. Toko will not be Veon's partner in crime as shown in Emerald Moon.
Q: Is there anything different about this sim date compared to the others?
A: The story and cut scenes will run kind of like Xolga and Mr. Toko (visual-novely). This mean more drawing for me, but I think the extra work will be well worth
A messageRecorded this. I was depressed, and needed to find a way to ease the pain. So... I talked to myself and recorded it. So when I feel down, I would go and listen to the voice clip. 'Why Are We Even Talking About This?'I get that phrase a lot, that and "over react much?" whenever I bring up ANY issue, be it from a video game, politics, or whatever. There seems to be a lot of people who just don't wanna talk about anything at all, and would much rather these discussions just not exist so they can get on with their lives.'Why Are We Even Talking About This?'1 year ago in Personal More Like This
You'll be unsurprised to learn that I don't agree with that wisdom. In my books, if you don't do anything, nothing is going to happen. If there's an injustice in the world somewhere and you stay silent, that injustice isn't going to fix itself. It will just keep happening. That, my friends, is complacency.
Then of course there are those people who don't believe that the world will ever change, therefor there's no reason to try, and actively try to stop anyone who dares to stand up for something. I can't begin to describe how annoying that mindset is to me. It's almost sadistic in it's very nature, by actively trying to stop people from making the world a better place by being dismissi
Jimquisition, Wii-U Hate, and Artistic TaboosJimquisition on the Phil Fish Hate and Thick Skin in GeneralJimquisition, Wii-U Hate, and Artistic Taboos1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I really appreciated this week's Jimquisition episode because it highlighted a mentality that I, myself, have dealt with. The whole concept that "you need a thick skin" to "deal with criticism" online and that you, as a creator, are solely responsible when you finally snap and "break" and say or do something stupid after years of constant pounding and hate lobbed at you. I've been in that situation, many times, and it's nice to hear from another creator that this is a thing not isolated to myself, and more importantly for standing up for the creator's side.
If you'd like to watch the video you can do so here: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/jimquisition/7831-Go-Fish?utm_source=latest&utm_medium=index_carousel&utm_campaign=all I think it presents a nice counterpoint to the usual "Phil Fish is just an asshole" remarks you frequently see online in response to the controversy surrounding him
Tracing HellIn the most recent brentalfloss: The Comic (which is about crossovers by the way), I did a parody image of the video game Journey but Doctor Who themed. I chose the iconic image of the character standing before a tall glowing mountain far off in the distance, replaced the mountain with the dying Tardis from "The Name of The Doctor," and changed the Journey character into the 4th Doctor. I thought it was quite good and pleased with the results but... apparently there's a shitstorm brewing (probably on tumblr) about it because I "traced" the Journey image.Tracing Hell1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I'm no stranger to this accusation, as it happened last year on my London poster with how I portrayed Big Ben. Now, I get the anger over that because it was a poster that was going up for sale and I had used an image of Big Ben that was directly from Wikipedia. Didn't matter that I still drew Big Ben by hand, it was still "traced" and therefor I was considered the lowliest scum on the face of the planet. The internet blew up at me, acc
'Disability' is not 'deficit'.Today, July 14th, is Disability Awareness Day.'Disability' is not 'deficit'.1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
People who do not have disabilities are fortunate in some ways; for example, they don't have to worry about whether they will be able to exit a burning building, wake up with excruciating pain, or have to choose between purchasing expensive medications that can keep them alive and paying their rent. However, please do not pity those of us who do, for having a disability does not automatically make someone less "lucky" than others.
It has nothing to do with luck.
I realize from firsthand experience that having a disability is extraordinarily challenging. Living with pain, as one example, must be beyond imagination. Living with suicidal thoughts and not knowing whether you will wake up in the morning because of all the medications you have to take for your disability is terrifying. It takes a lot of strength sometimes just to get up in the morning and face a day that is undou

Why we can't have nice thingsI am surprised that MMD confessions blogs still exist on Tumblr. Why we can't have nice things1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I mean... their 'era' ended like... ages ago?
9/10 of the confessions were about people that nobody knows or cares about.
Now there's another one.
Pretty much a copy of some shitty 'dA confessions' blog.
We see a picture of, let's face it' newcomer MMDers, who still JUST LEARN how to use PMDe and MMD.
So *claps* great life you have there, dear admins, for pointing out the flaws of newbies.
All I can see lately is complaining about people using api faces, 3DCG parts and living.
I can't believe I say this, but now I actually miss the old days.
When nobody would bitch at you for learning to use PMDe and MMD.
Because no, those posts don't make those people try harder.
They try hard already.
I am not defending the people who put horrible fetishes into MMD and post it around or those who make shitty stuff on purpose.
But good God...
Why would you pick on newbies.

What's Wrong With Praise? So this is another one of those artistic taboos we're never suppose to talk about, apparently. The idea of giving back positive feedback to an artist. It's seen as "coddling" as "babying" as "inflating the ego" and has such intense negative associations. It seems to be generally accepted that the only way to critique someone's work is to point out ONLY the negative parts. Any attempt to point out anything positive or something you liked about the work is seen as being unhelpful towards the artist's growth. What's Wrong With Praise?1 year ago in Personal More Like This
And frankly I think that's a bunch of hogwash.
Speaking from my own experience, I rarely ever get anything positive said about my work in a constructive way. I might get a lot of "good jobs" or people talking happily about my comics because they made them laugh, but I rarely if ever get any comments that go into detail explaining WHY I did something right. On the flip side, the amount of negative criticism and nitpicking is almost hilariously rampant, not just on my artwork but on th

Story planning isn't about length—you can use all of the tips throughout this week to figure out anything from a very well-researched drabble to a cycle of novels.
So I'm just taking a moment to talk about the big difference between writing a short vs. long work. I'm not hashing out every distinction—I'm leaving microfiction in particular to the experts—so for our purposes here a short story is anything from 1,000 to 10,000 words and a novel is 40,000 words and above. (Literaticat will tell you different things. Trust her.)
The basics are the same: you need a beginning, middle, and end (yes, short stories are complete stories)! You need an engaging protagonist who works well with the plot, and there's the same range of available genres.
So what is the difference?
Scope. A short story has to be <
You can't say you can't!As a child I was a bright student, always used to grab among the first 3 positions in my class, teachers used to love me (I was never a teacher's pet though) and my mom and dad (specially dad) supported me with his heart and soul. We always have guidance/influence from others in some way or the other. I was fortunate enough to get them I guess. But there comes a time in your life where you need to move alone and build your own responsibilities, you need to make your own ways, you need make your own decisions and you need to choose the right path. You can't say you can't!1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
The world is cruel enough to pull you down every time you want to climb up. But you can't stop there. You have to move on. You can't say you can't!
I have seen a lot of phases in my life in the last 25 years. In deviantART everyone says they like the way I talk to people, the way I treat them and the way I guide them. May be I shouldn't use the word "everyone", perhaps it should be at least most of them says so.

The reason these issues with women in comics and gaming and nerd culture in general is because of inclusivity and broadening demographics. Over a decade ago, nerd culture was still very much male dominated and exclusive. But over the years women have been getting into comics and gaming and everything else geek related much more so. I mean... don't get me wrong, they were ALWAYS there to being with... but for whatever reason it just started to become more socially acceptable to admit that you were a woman and a geek/gamer.
But the problem is that most of nerd culture and gaming are doing things same-old-same-old like they've always been doing things. They produce content exclusively for male audiences and don't understand why women are takin

I have so much to say. I can write endlessly here but this video says most of it.
It is very shocking to see how females are being deprived in India. I am truly ashamed. But the most shocking thing that I have come across to know very recently from a friend of mine is that in a porn site, the 16th Dec Delhi rape case girl's pic was being used as an Ad with a message saying..
"Want to know how college girls are making XXXXX amount of money every month?"
The image that was used for the Ad was this one (the right one):
Yes, it is true! I have seen it myself. I am not naming the site here because I am not here to promote porn but to tell you that this is true.
This was so very shocking to see how humanity has crossed every lines they could possibly make. HOW CAN YOU USE IMAGES OF THOSE VICTI
To artists who want to offer commissions. I would like to address something I have been seeing as of late here and on other sites. Artists who are asking if someone would commission them if they were to offer commissions and if so, how much should they charge or how much are they willing to pay?To artists who want to offer commissions.2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I say this with a real heart to all artists, but that is a foolish line of questions.
Really. I have been there. I even did those myself. But look at it from the side of a potential buyer.
1: Would you even commission me?
Can you imagine if a doctor were to say that? If I were to open an office would you even come to me? That makes the doctor feel like a failure. Like he has so little faith in his ability to do his job he is afraid to do it. So he has to ask a thousand people IF he were to open an office would ANYONE come? Would you? Or would you want a doctor who just opens it and does his job and believes in his ability to treat you?
Same with an artist. You sound like you have no faith in your ability. If you do
