Project Educate: Composition BasicsThe action of putting things together; formation or construction.Project Educate: Composition Basics3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
The term composition simply means 'putting together' and is applied to all forms of art. In this respect, composition is all about the placement, arrangement or organisation of the individual elements within a photo. The composition of a photograph is what catches the viewer's attention and is what makes the image pleasing to the eye. By practicing and developing basic composition techniques, you can produce pieces of work which can recreate the impact of the original scene.
Some tips for developing composition skills are;
Look around using the viewfinder every time you take a picture.Look at each element and how it impacts the overall composition.Become familiar with your camera. Learn how it works, play around with settings and really get to know how each setting changes the overall image.Experiment and practice. Experiment and practice. Experiment and practice.Study other pieces of art; photogr
Shanghai NOEspecially for beginners it can be really hard to say "No". Sometimes you get a job offer with the tiny problem of microscopic payment (if any payment at all) or you are already IN a project and get tons of change requests and end up with an hourly rate that makes you weep. And mostly not in enjoyment.Shanghai NO2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Or you get the puppy-eye look for "a favour" and in the end you end up doing things you didn't really want and spending weeks of your free time on it. And it leaves a sour aftertaste because you think "Dang, why didn't I...?"
Yes... why haven't you?
I have to admit the "we need ten million changes" problem is still a problem I face mostly on a daily base. It's okay if you get payed for it. Gods, I'll do a million changes if it gets payed and if these changes are reasonable. :iconengelszorn: and I experienced such a "we need changes" problem and in the end it was a mixture of fine negotiation, making a lot of compromises and doing (bearable) changes. But within boundaries. Because you rea

Hmm, to talk about it would be easier in bullet points so let's get to that.
Infinite canvas, resolution, and dimension. It's all specialized textured vector so no matter how small you draw you can export it to a .psd or .jpg of ANY RESOLUTION AND ANY DIMENSION which is pretty fucking amazing and helps those people who can't handle heavy programs or preset resolutions like in SAI or Photoshop.
It's like drawing on paper. Like to me it's really forgiving paper. The select tool is pretty much like a canvas cropping device-- you select and then you can export the selected area as the cropped image. Otherwise it doesn't do nice things like resize, scale, or rotate. (Just yet anyway, I think they're still developing.) So it's a good practice tool.
It's really smooth and pleasant to draw

Are you interested in trying our Official Photomanipulation Tutorial Challenge but unsure of where to begin? Look no further! Here are some tips about creating a tutorial that is easy for you to write and easy for us to understand. We hope these pointers will be useful to you; as always, feel free to leave questions or comments.
1. Sit down and really think about what you are good at doing
What do people compliment you about most frequently? What are you most proud of in your manipulations so far? It could be anything, from the way you select and cut out stock to the way you make your colors pop. Start from your strength, something you can talk about with ease.
2. Take the pressure off!
No matter how "good" someone is at photomanipulation already, they still have something interesting to le

In this toolbox you will find helpful tips for digital typography. For those of you new to the topic, let's start with a short explanation
Typography is the art and technique of arranging type in order to make language visible.
Pretty simple, eh? Basically as you are reading this you are "reading typography". What I will refer to in this article is digital artistic typography, though. This is not the everday typography you see on street signs, books or on websites.
It can be anything! Which is amazing and scary at the same time

The 365 Photography Challenge - How to Stick at itBefore I start with this article, a little disclaimer. I just finished the 365 photography challenge - known as a 'photo a day' but I blogged and took more than one photo on most days, so it was that little bit more challenging. So I'm feeling pretty smug right now, that I achieved it. But I am by no means toting myself as an expert. This is just my humble advice on how to keep going when it does nothing but rain, or when you feel like giving up.The 365 Photography Challenge - How to Stick at it2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Before 2012, some weeks would pass when I wouldn't even pick up the camera, let alone think about shots, or how to compose one. Photography still excited me, but I was lacking inspiration. So on the 2nd of January last year I decided to throw everything up in the air, and let go. That is to say, I stopped being precious about the camera (because you can't when you have to take a photo a day) and I forced myself to take rubbish shots, as well as half decent ones.
Start as you mean to go. Don't over-set yoursel

These are ordered first come first serve style; I will be showing around 50 pieces at one time (I still have a lot to go through and it adds up every time i put up a feature journal), and be featuring once a week as to not clog up your message boxes. It'll probably take ....a few months, so please be patient!

Project Educate - Still Life OverviewThis week ^Kaz-D and myself are bringing you an overview of the Photography Galleries on deviantART. Still life showcases studio-style photography that features inanimate objects.
Photographing Still Life - Tips
Keep the background simple! Keep it clutter and crease free, these will only detract from the final image. You can always add extra textures such as scarves if needed.
Take your time. Make sure the composition works - if it doesn't look quite right, keep tweaking until you're happy with the layout of the shot.
Lighting is an important factor. Depending on the light available, you may need to use a tripod if using a longer sh

Microsoft Powerpoint 2010 is primarily a tool for creating slideshows or presentations that incorporate text, images, and animations. Common uses for the software are for business presentations, school reports, or instructional materials. However, there are a handful of options available in Powerpoint that can be used to create art with good quality. Powerpoint can be a great tool for beginners who would like to explore with their creativity without having to learn complex software in the process.

Now Mypaint is a bit more talkative when you press '+' or '-' on the keyboard to zoom with the 'Control+Space' shortcut. It was difficult back to Mypaint 1.0 days to have an idea of the actual zoom level. For the future development , this box system was made to be reusable ; so Mypaint might have better and better visual feedbacks on the next versions. The notifications are activated by defaults , and concern for the moment only

PE Stereoscopy: How do I make a stereogram? How do I make a stereogram?PE Stereoscopy: How do I make a stereogram?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Have you checked out our tutorial for taking your own stereo photo?
Think carefully about the type of stereogram you want to make, and follow the instructions below:
Anaglyph is the method of viewing stereoscopic images using those funny colored glasses. The reason it's still quite popular is because you don't need a special monitor or TV to view it, the glasses are quite cheap, and most people have access to a pair somewhere.
Anaglyph glasses come with lenses in a wide variety of colors. Most people associate anaglyph with Red/Cyan glasses which have a red lens covering the left eye, and a cyan (a kind of bright bluey-green) lens covering the right eye.
In actual fact, many color combinations will work, it's just most people won't have glasses that can see them. You can check out other c
