Recently, DA added a limit on how many thumbnails you can add in a journal (I think it's now 200 thumbnails) and I think it's more than enough. But because of this, we will open only 200 slots next feature instead of 250 slots.

Alright, You probably heard of the tragic Connecticut school shooting, 20 children among 26 victims. As a Muslim, it grieves me to hear such horrible and sad news.
... but the hypocrisy of the media is OUTRAGEOUS.
I read in the news:
Dressed in black fatigues and a military vest, a heavily armed man walked into a Connecticut elementary school Friday and opened fire
The shooter, identified by three law enforcement officials as 20-year-old Adam Lanza, also was killed
The attacker, identified by law enforcement sources as Adam Lanza, opened fire on Friday morning at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown
The woman found dead at the secondary crime scene was related to the shooter, a police news release said. Many media outlets have reported she was the shooter's mother, Nancy Lanza.
The mass shooting in Connecticut left 28 people dead, including 20 children. The

Don't deny that you traced and say that you "referenced" it instead.
Don't advocate the above actions by making a tutorial out of it.
Especially if you are a high-profile artist who is looked up to by a large number of aspiring artists.
Project Educate - Still Life OverviewThis week ^Kaz-D and myself are bringing you an overview of the Photography Galleries on deviantART. This won't replace the full weeks planned by the specific community volunteers for specific galleries - but instead it will help to give you a mini introduction into what's out there.Project Educate - Still Life Overview4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Still life showcases studio-style photography that features inanimate objects.
Photographing Still Life - Tips
Keep the background simple! Keep it clutter and crease free, these will only detract from the final image. You can always add extra textures such as scarves if needed.
Take your time. Make sure the composition works - if it doesn't look quite right, keep tweaking until you're happy with the layout of the shot.
Lighting is an important factor. Depending on the light available, you may need to use a tripod if using a longer sh

The 365 Photography Challenge - How to Stick at itBefore I start with this article, a little disclaimer. I just finished the 365 photography challenge - known as a 'photo a day' but I blogged and took more than one photo on most days, so it was that little bit more challenging. So I'm feeling pretty smug right now, that I achieved it. But I am by no means toting myself as an expert. This is just my humble advice on how to keep going when it does nothing but rain, or when you feel like giving up.The 365 Photography Challenge - How to Stick at it3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Before 2012, some weeks would pass when I wouldn't even pick up the camera, let alone think about shots, or how to compose one. Photography still excited me, but I was lacking inspiration. So on the 2nd of January last year I decided to throw everything up in the air, and let go. That is to say, I stopped being precious about the camera (because you can't when you have to take a photo a day) and I forced myself to take rubbish shots, as well as half decent ones.
Start as you mean to go. Don't over-set yoursel

Project Educate: Composition BasicsThe action of putting things together; formation or construction.Project Educate: Composition Basics4 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
The term composition simply means 'putting together' and is applied to all forms of art. In this respect, composition is all about the placement, arrangement or organisation of the individual elements within a photo. The composition of a photograph is what catches the viewer's attention and is what makes the image pleasing to the eye. By practicing and developing basic composition techniques, you can produce pieces of work which can recreate the impact of the original scene.
Some tips for developing composition skills are;
Look around using the viewfinder every time you take a picture.Look at each element and how it impacts the overall composition.Become familiar with your camera. Learn how it works, play around with settings and really get to know how each setting changes the overall image.Experiment and practice. Experiment and practice. 10 Tips for Tutorial Writing Success!10 things to consider when writing a tutorial10 Tips for Tutorial Writing Success!3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Are you interested in trying our Official Photomanipulation Tutorial Challenge but unsure of where to begin? Look no further! Here are some tips about creating a tutorial that is easy for you to write and easy for us to understand. We hope these pointers will be useful to you; as always, feel free to leave questions or comments.
1. Sit down and really think about what you are good at doing
What do people compliment you about most frequently? What are you most proud of in your manipulations so far? It could be anything, from the way you select and cut out stock to the way you make your colors pop. Start from your strength, something you can talk about with ease.
2. Take the pressure off!
No matter how "good" someone is at photomanipulation already, they still have something interesting to le

Have you checked out our tutorial for taking your own stereo photo?
Think carefully about the type of stereogram you want to make, and follow the instructions below:
Anaglyph is the method of viewing stereoscopic images using those funny colored glasses. The reason it's still quite popular is because you don't need a special monitor or TV to view it, the glasses are quite cheap, and most people have access to a pair somewhere.
Anaglyph glasses come with lenses in a wide variety of colors. Most people associate anaglyph with Red/Cyan glasses which have a red lens covering the left eye, and a cyan (a kind of bright bluey-green) lens covering the right eye.
In actual fact, many color combinations will work, it's just most people won't have glasses that can see them. You can check out other c

PE Article: Tips and Advice 'Renders'The stock gallery is full of what is known as Renders You may be asking yourself just what a Render is.PE Article: Tips and Advice 'Renders'4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Under the Stock and Resources Category is the following description.
Resources & Stock>Stock Images>3D & Renders.
"Computer generated stock images"
In terms of the Stock and Resources gallery, directly refers to the "rendering" of 3d digital work with the use of a render engine. Below is a little more info!
From the prepared 3D scene, rendering is the final process of creating the actual 2D image. A great example of this process can be taking a photo or filming the scene after the setup is finished in real life. Several different, and often specialized, rendering methods have been developed. These range from the distinctly non-realistic wireframe rendering through polygon-based rendering, to more advanced techniques such as: scanline rendering, ray tracing, or radiosity. Rendering may take from fractions of a sec
Watcher's Feature #12It's been a while since I did this @__@;;~ Sorry for the delay ~Watcher's Feature #123 years ago in Art Features More Like This
It takes me a while to put these together, so if you commented on my other journal to be featured, please take a look at everyone else's work too. After all, it's only fair that way and if you don't, it's just a little selfish and your conscience will bug you . So yah, share the love, guys! Faving this journal might help
These are ordered first come first serve style; I will be showing around 50 pieces at one time (I still have a lot to go through and it adds up every time i put up a feature journal), and be featuring once a week as to not clog up your message boxes. It'll probably take ....a few months, so please be patient!

Well that's a tough question, first I like to think I'm an artist hehe, so that would be the short definition of myself, because the things you do defines you, actions, there are also things that I try to do, like being a good person, not look for trouble and help people when I can. Shanghai NOEspecially for beginners it can be really hard to say "No". Sometimes you get a job offer with the tiny problem of microscopic payment (if any payment at all) or you are already IN a project and get tons of change requests and end up with an hourly rate that makes you weep. And mostly not in enjoyment.Shanghai NO2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Or you get the puppy-eye look for "a favour" and in the end you end up doing things you didn't really want and spending weeks of your free time on it. And it leaves a sour aftertaste because you think "Dang, why didn't I...?"
Yes... why haven't you?
I have to admit the "we need ten million changes" problem is still a problem I face mostly on a daily base. It's okay if you get payed for it. Gods, I'll do a million changes if it gets payed and if these changes are reasonable. :iconengelszorn: and I experienced such a "we need changes" problem and in the end it was a mixture of fine negotiation, making a lot of compromises and doing (bearable) changes. But within boundaries. Because you rea
