Of course, most of us know him in his "Winter Soldier" outfit, with "The arm", and although I was going to make that version, Bucky is still always going to be in this outfit in my mind: Captain America's original best friend - who prevails in the end.
It was quite the adventure today in 4 feet of snow!
This month started off pretty terrible ... bike accident on the first to wipe out my right side, then getting sick a week later... but when meeting Stan Lee as your hero is the deadline, powering on is all that matters!
This is my original design Captain America, with my custom made shield - finally put together so I can use it. So I kind of hate sewing pleather... seriously .. pleather fly = not fun. But after the day is said and done, after Stan Lee even said Wow to my costume. EVERYTHING was worth it, and I had an AMAZING Time!! Met so many great people.
I'll be making new stars for this that are 3D and taking this one to Europe when I go in October! Couldn't be more stoked.
So since for V-Day, because Mana and I know our true loves are food, we decided to have an entire day with ~zombieecho .. although starting at 3 pm. Random cheerios and lattes in bed... and apples... and vegan grilled cheese... and dark chocolate fondue.... It was definitely ridiculous to say the least. To add to that, here's the photoset of us in the kitchen --> [link]
Anyway - finally got to wear my Eisenhower although only 3 sets of my pins came in. My insignia purple heart and defense pins are shopped here because sadly, they did not come with their metal plates, and my paratrooper one ALSO isn't here. BUT. It doesn't matter. I'll have the whole thing next time round.
Happy V-Day everyone! Or.. Happy Thursday February 14th, 2013, as is the much better way to look at it.
ah f*** it. I'm posting this on here. I'm going to Europe in 2 weeks!!!! Cosplaying with *FahrSindram and *CaptainImaginary and getting to hang out with other amazing people overseas.
I'll be bringing a few cosplays, and Tony will be one of them. Pretty darn stoked and half!!! I'll be posting vids and pics of my journey on both my tumblr, and new fb page! -> facebook.com/luxlaterna , so stay tuned!! Also because a bunch of people have been asking me, I'll also be doing a beard/ facial hair video tutorial while I'm over there
So no, this isn't me. But it is my costume! For those of you who have been following the progress of my Winter Soldier cosplay, here is the finished result of many months of hard work.
Although I am still contemplating cosplaying in this costume, it has been altered to fit Ray, the wonderful actor pictured here, for a trailer we filmed for a "Death of Captain America" movie (for those of you who have read that comic series. If you have not, PLEASE DO).
For more information on "Becoming A Hero", including more bts photos, stills, and more, please visit: becomingahero-official.tumblr.…. The actual video will be released May 14, 2014. So please stay tuned!!
Ray Garrioch as Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier, as adapted from the comic 'The Death of Captain America') costume by Lux-Laterna aka, me.
I had an AMAZING time in Sweden with *CaptainImaginary and ~Cecelin0. Stockholm is somewhere I just never thought I'd go, so the experience was definitely sweet. Charlie and I also were able to do a couple photoshoots including this one!! By the time I had got to London, the Official Doctor Who tumblr had actually featured our cosplays for Wholloween! Pretty surreal. Never thought I'd see the day, even if it was just a derp photo (--> luxlaterna.tumblr.com/post/648… )
My mom always used to ask me why I loved Captain America... since, you know, I'm Canadian. But after a very sturdy answer explaining that he doesn't just stand for America, but rather justice, honesty, loyalty and determination, I definitely won the argument.
So although a lot of people thought this was my real hair, that is only partially true. I died all my front roots that same gold color, and brushed them back into the wig, so the hair line was entirely real. I definitely fluked out that it ended up being the same color. Probably (well, most certainly) not the cheapest way to achieve the real hair look, but I pleasantly happy with the results
Worn at Cos&Effect 2012, Vancouver BC. Shield and costume made by me.
