CAPTAIN STONE IS MISSING
A Madefire motion book by Christina McCormack & Liam Sharp
Without going into all the wonderful enhancements (not only frame motion and dramatic juxtapositions, but also musical scoring and sound and flash effects) possible with the Madefire motion books process, it should be emphasized lest one get lost in all the bells and whistles that the actual
Tip of the Day: ComparingDon't compare your life to others. See what others are doing but the best person to compare yourself to is you.Tip of the Day: Comparing3 years ago in Personal More Like This
If I always compared myself to others and wanted to constantly compete or beat others, I wouldn't want to share what I know.
Everyone is on their own journey but together we can get further and faster.

On Graduating-Hey guys, I know for a lot of you graduation is coming up super fast, and it seems completely absurd that it's been almost a year ago since I was in that boat. I well remember the two options presented to me:On Graduating-3 years ago in Personal More Like This
1) Get a studio job. Preferably close to home.
2) Move back in with my parents. Possibly get a day job or something.
I just wanted to remind ...whoever is reading this... that there are about a gazillion alternatives. In fact, any possible train of actions you can conceive of is an option. It's hard to think of options not presented to you as options, but you really can go anywhere and do anything. This is the only time in our lives when we don't have any greater obligations- we don't have a wife and kids to provide for, no company that would collapse without us, our bodies can handle sleeping on a springy old couch for a while. This is EXACTLY when you should take a gigantic risk because the only thing y
Files sizes and the reader performanceFile size does matter to a certain extent in how your book will perform in the reader.Files sizes and the reader performance1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Pages with lots of assets that have large file sizes may tend to slow down in the reader or take a little while to load.
The best rule of thumb is to try to keep the file sizes of your assets as low as possible without affecting the quality of the asset.
For images, use a .png for any image that contains transparent pixels (such as a character cut out of it's environment).
Use a .jpg for any image that does not contain any transparent pixels (such as a background image). Where a .png may be 2 or 3 megabytes in size, that same image will be about 500k as a .jpg and that savings will help your page perform better without reducing the quality.
For sound, try to loop sound where you can and fade out sound where you can. Instead of just playing a 2 minute long piece of music, try to make the melody loop, then move to the next looped melody at a tap point. This not only reduces file size
Tip of the Day: Doubters and HatersBefore you start off your career (or perhaps you just started your career) there tends to be more doubters and haters around you.Tip of the Day: Doubters and Haters4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Most doubters and haters lurk at the bottom because they're too fearful or ignorant to try.
Sometimes many of our biggest doubters aren't bottom lurkers but our relatives or friends. Most of the time they mean well but they are not YOU. They don't know what you are capable of.
For many people, you are your worst hater and doubter. The only way you can find what you're capable of is by trying your absolute hardest. True failure comes from not trying!
Sending positive vibes to you all!

What makes a memorable character?
What are the themes?
How much do you care about popularity - ie. is it a project you're doing for

What age-range is it?
And as mentioned earlier - why is it important you do it?
But let's start with...

Its ok to speak your mind.
It's ok to let the words issue from your mouth.
It's ok to let them leap from your lips.
Being strong is not always the best for you,

'Cause those bottles always break and what they once held;

Well, first a little explanation : lately, I want to draw, sadly I'm really, really, really tired. Tiredness simply kill my imagination, you have no idea. This is why I spend a lot of my free time to read and play video games, because this is the only thing I'm good at (when I'm not taking a nap...).
So, I had this idea : would you like to give me subjects to draw, like your original characters ? ^_^

post references on this journal about your favourite original character (please no characters from anime/games... I want YOUR character)
A female character please ... !
... and wait
I won't tell you if I draw your character or not.
I also won't tell you if it will be a black and white picture or a watercolor~
I don't have a minimum or a maximum of artworks I want to draw,

DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND THE MONEY WILL FOLLOW. SURE.A lot of people are unsure whether this is good career advice. I may not be popular for saying this, but I will always be straight with you: Taken literally, this is not a "plan" for a career. But you can still do what you love, and make money from it. I'll explain in a moment.DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND THE MONEY WILL FOLLOW. SURE.11 months ago in Personal More Like This
There are a zillion actors in Hollywood, following their dreams, and doing what they love. and 93% of them are out of work at any given moment. Clearly, something isn't working if all you do is plow ahead based only on your likes and dislikes.
I was given this advice early on: "Don't do what you love; love what you do well." I was struggling at the time, trying do serious sci-fi, of which I am a fan. The problem was... I'm funny! When I write, it comes out funny. This doesn't work well when you're scripting dialog for Zarnack from Planet Z.
Therefore, instead of blindly following your passions, I recommend what worked for me, and so many others: Find an area of your interests, and abilities, where you excel. Wor

Getting into comics is something a lot of people want to know how to do, but there's a lot of questions you want to ask yourself first. There is such a vast array of genre and sub-genre, technique, approach, and so on, that it's important to be clear where you want to go with your work at the outset – and you have to be REALLY honest and tough on yourself.
Do you want to draw:
If you're into the capes and tights and you want to go mainstream you're going to have to want it incredibly badly, as the competition is the most extreme I've ever known it right now. There seems to be more titles than ever - and with the digital revolution more people are capable of producing sleek, mainstream quality art - but right across the

Why can't artist's be EXPECTED to experiment? To try new things? To be innovative?
Why is it that drawing in the same style forever is viewed as THE BEST approach?
How do we unlearn this?
How do we encourage creators to be daring, and our readers to be more open and daring too?
I admit it.
I chop and I change, and if you're looking for a book that is consistent then you'd better not invest any time in me! As a result I've lost many fans over the years. People at cons sometimes say 'where did you go after The Hulk? I thought you must have left the industry...'
They never knew I was always here, but always changing.
Case in point - 'Captain Stone is Missing...' (FREE on dA here: www.deviantart.com/art/Captain…) may be, in my opinion, the best work of my career, but consistent it is not!!!
For me there are artists tha
Daily Deviations: How to SuggestI constantly find that many deviants, new and otherwise, simply do not know how to suggest a Daily Deviation.Daily Deviations: How to Suggest7 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Just to make sure we are all on the same page here:
Info to Know
The only rule applied to Daily Deviations is that a deviant may not receive more than one Daily Deviation within a period of three months.
All deviants, regardless of popularity, are eligible to receive Daily Deviations.
Popular deviants are still deviants and will not be disqualified on the mere charge of being popular from receiving a Daily Deviation.
Any deviation may possibly receive a Daily Deviation.
This is regardless of the amount of views or favorites it has garnered.
You are ALLOWED to suggest YOURSELF. Just don't abuse this.
The following are not rules on how to suggest Daily Deviations but rather guidelines that help staff capable to select Daily Deviations better and more quickly process suggestions.

OMG dA hates NarutoOk, so there's been a bit of drama today because a few Naruto images have been removed. People are blaming hackers and trolls and biased admins, but here's the real deal.OMG dA hates Naruto4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Today we received a report about a group that was focused on sexualised images of the girls from Naruto. On inspection there were found to be well over a thousand images that broke our policies regarding underage characters. We removed these these policy violations, but as you can imagine, so many images being removed there was a bit of a stir caused. A very small amount of images were removed accidentally, but we've restored the ones that were and have been notified about. But we're talking less than1% of the images removed.
So why was all this removed?
In short deviantART does not allow the sexualisation of any image involving a human minor, real or fictional.
I know this seems a bit vague and it is clarified a bit in :faq248:
But what does that all really mean? Why is it so vague and subjec

There was once a time when art depicting the lands west of the Appalachian Mountains as pristine wilderness awaiting exploration was censured by church and state as distracting from more important matters of the common pieties of home life. But there have always been those who need visions of grander realms for the journeys they can only dream of experiencing, but that may one day be rest stops on their great–great–grandchildren’s celestial road maps.
