4.1Did you hear about the stranger girl4.12 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
with olive eyes and blue skin and red veins
popping out like fireworks at new years.
She had glass shards embedded in her heart
because she loved someone who did not love her,
and she loved someone she could not have, but
instead of fighting fate, she took the long way about.
With the love of strangers haunting her like ghosts,
she never called him back, and he died on the train tracks.
Now she stands on the rooftop, waiting, longing
to ask the ghost of the man who jumped before her,
how it felt to feel weightless and to finally mean something.

from the restaurants, and
broke the good china- like bulls.
At fourteen, they were
k l e p t o m a n i a c s,
with haggard fingernails,
and a smokers cough even though
they hadn't been smoking that long.
It was what the cool kids did,
and they wanted to belong.
They were fifteen when the storm
clouds rolled in, mirrors to
the yellow lines etched on the pavement,
and the green trees along the sidewalk
that no one cared to fix, along with
broken hearts and bruised skin.
No one cares for desperation.
