There are a plethora of brushes available to you on photoshop. This guide will explain different brush settings, as well as how to install different brush packs here on deviantART. This guide is for pressure sensitive pen tablets. It is going to be much easier to do things with a tablet. Ones by Wacom are good, and you can get a bamboo for under 99$ USD.
Basic Brushes in Photoshop
It's important to stick with default ones to learn all the settings. You can do so many things with the hard round brush.
Bring up your brush palette in one of the following ways. (note I am in CS3, so the icons will look much older, but same thing. )

1. Saving your .psd with all layers hidden makes a smaller file compared to saving it with all layers visible.
2. You can use the Crop Tool to quickly increase the canvas size of an image by holding down Ctrl + Alt whilst dragging the Crop Tool outside the current canvas.
3. If you want to see only one of your layers at a time, hold down Alt whilst clicking the eye icon of the layer. (do it again to show all layers again)
4. Holding down Alt while in a dialog box turns the Cancel button into a Reset button, so you can reset the values back to default.
5. If you want to just quickly check a very heavy .psd file, you can hold down Shift + Alt while clicking the Open button. This way Photoshop will open a flattened version of the file.
6. You can change the gray background that surrounds your image with the Paint Bucket Tool, just hold down Shift and make click on the background.
7. Not a very unknown tip, but if y

And I finally uploaded whole video painting progress from my recent painting Hidden Temple (drawing below). I wanted to post it already yesterday but I rendered it like 10 times already and I just couldn't submit it (it rendered more than 8 hours). So now it finally worked (though I still can't see full HD resolution. I recorded screen on 1920x1080px, but for now I can only see 720. I don't know why I hope it'll work later). I drew it 7.5 hours, and video is 6 times faster than actual drawing. So you'll be able to see whole progress in one hour.
And here below is video which I uploaded on our YouTube account Tincek-MarincekART. Like you see it's from drawing above...I drew it flipped like I said under the drawing. It's matte painting and you can see how many layers I use
ATB - An alternative to watermarks: MetadataWe have all seen watermarks on images, here on dA and around the internet. And even though they have become a necessary step in the aid of preventing art theft/misuse of art, they are not always ideal. It's really hard to signature or watermark an icon that is 50x50 pixels and still show it off, for example. And even in larger pieces of art, sometimes they just look ugly or, like the watermark option offered by dA, take up too much of the image.ATB - An alternative to watermarks: Metadata1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
