Second, I know I went missing for about two months but I'm hoping that things will start slowing down again so I can work on comics and other art-related things. I have a bunch of tm Comics lined up since... 4 months ago... and I'm hoping to actually work on them soon (Along with StupidFox, of course). But mainly during these past two months, I've been doing a lot of sketching and going back on working with old mediums.
Warning: This is a Beginning of a Rant
Recently, I've realized that I do not have as much time to work on art as I did one year ago. And I l

Most of us have heard the terms Mary Sue and Gary Stu before heck, they may have been aimed at us before but how many of us actually know the definition of a Mary Sue? We simply believe that a Mary Sue/Gary Stu is a badly-developed character, but are we aware of what defines a Mary Sue? From my personal experience, a Mary Sue/Gary Stu is a character who:

Is virtually perfect. (These two are pretty obvious)

it tends to come from daily inspirations where dA actually has a huge role in it. the artists I follow, animes and movies... it's like an outcome from it all. also, the music... it does help a lot to imagine certain atmosphere more intensively.

Awesome for a first question, I was brought to deviantART by a group of artists that I knew in an Oekaki/PaintChat site called "BakaNeko." I used to draw a bunch of landscapes there and everyone on that site was so nice and helpful. So one day they just told me about deviantART and how I should post some of my stuff there. I think I still have one painting from BakaNeko up in my deviantART gallery.

You know, there was a time when I wanted to change my name to ANYTHING other than SonicRocksMySocks. I thought it up when I was 15 without realizing I'd be saddled with that alias for potentially a lifetime.
When I started gaining renown on the internet, there was even a time where I considered making a new DeviantArt account JUST to change my username, but by then my reputation was already cemented. It's silly and childish and doesn't fit a 20-something artist who is trying to get serious about her art...
After working on my 8th DeviantArt anniversary flash and going back to my roots, it sort of dawned on me.
No other username fits me better.
Maybe I was embarrassed of it for a time, but now, after 8 years, there's no way in hell I'd ever be anybody else. My art is ABOUT childhood and youthful spirit, and that's what I remember when I think of my nickname. It reminds me of where I ca

With the power of our faith let us unite,
Let us keep differences of definitions aside.
Let faith lead us to the path which is right,
Let us fight for what is right with all out might.
Let us have faith in equality of everyone alive,

We can defeat our fear with the power of faith,
The evil should fear because they have no faith.
Let us preach love and kindness to each and everyone,
Only then the righteous battle would be ultimately won.
Error in Reading the BibleWhere do errors arise in biblical interpretation?Error in Reading the Bible3 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
The first is misreading the text, the second is misunderstanding the context, and the third is not reading that section in light of the whole of that section.
The fourth is forgetting who it addresses--that is to say (allegorically) people of a certain heart or disposition.
The fifth is seeing these words distinct from a life that has been lived.
The sixth is to see the Old Testament without considering and making it separate from Wisdom, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes, and to see the New as separate from Christ's example.
The seventh is to see the Old Testament radically distinct from the New--what does Christ cast aside, what does He fulfill, and what does He do in His life?
We, first of all, are so easily lead into error. Furthermore, the impious, atheistic, agnostic, lukewarm, and indifferent will never read the Scriptures accurately. This does not mean the words are inaccessible; it is q
10 Myths About IntrovertsI came across this list recently and felt like sharing it. I am an introvert, myself. I found myself completely agreeing with all of these things !!10 Myths About Introverts3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Myth #1 Introverts don't like to talk.
This is not true. Introverts just don't talk unless they have something to say. They hate small talk. Get an introvert talking about something they are interested in, and they won't shut up for days.
Myth #2 Introverts are shy.
Shyness has nothing to do with being an Introvert. Introverts are not necessarily afraid of people. What they need is a reason to interact. They don't interact for the sake of interacting. If you want to talk to an Introvert, just start talking. Don't worry about being polite.
Myth #3 Introverts are rude.
Introverts often don't see a reason for beating around the bush with social pleasantries. They want everyone to just be real and honest. Unfortunately, this is not acceptable in most settings, so Introverts can feel a lot of pressure t

Hey! For those of you who are students at UC Berkeley this year, it's time to sign up for classes again!
My excellent roommate and friends will be teaching a comics class this semester I will not be teaching it myself (though I might visit from time to time to pester them lol). If you like storytelling and want to create comics with others, this is a place to start! People will work to create 3 comic projects through out the semester, both group and individual comics. These comics will be published online as they are finished.
My roommate helped teach this course spring last year, and it was a great way to get in the practice of drawing in a group, as well as for a deadline. It's also a great way to meet a lot of other people who love comics through the course. (I met my roommate through teaching a digital painting class 2 years ago XD ).

They seek you in majesty.
They look at mountains and see the ridges of your thumbprint.
They cry your praise when you paint the autumn.
They throw open their hearts to the sun.
They marvel as the cold kernel stirs to life.
But you are in the bitter days as well,
the afternoons so dull I could weep.
You are the maker of anthills as well as mountains,
and the stately wake of the single crackled leaf.
You drew the colour from the sunset and breathed grey fog.
You kill some seeds, barren rocks that litter the ground and will never grow.
You are in despair as well as in triumph -- perhaps
even more, for despair is a magnet for your mercy.
If I look hard, I can see you in linoleum tiles,
in the ugly things squeezed out by human hands.
Even in flicker of acetylene,
you are there.
Break me of my addiction to glory.
Show me your face while my eyes are still open.
Erase the illusions.
Bring mundane peace.
Tracing in the ECOK, I promised myself that 2012 would be the year to get back into my art and try and find that motivation/inspiration that I used to have but before I do, there's a couple of things I need to get off my chest and who knows? Perhaps after talking about it, I'll be able to move on and take my art to the next level. I logged on to dA this morning to find several journals regarding tracing and I knew exactly who they were all directed at... I have been always curious about the number of people, who look at my journals. And new style of "favable" journals could finally show it to me. I was interested - when I post a journal, I usually have some + 400 views on my profile page. So I expected to have some 400 views on my last journals, which would confirm, that 400 persons read it. But it got some 6 000 views! it is MUCH more than my photos usually have! I can not believe this number is correct... I was told that the journal appeared in some dA news section, but I am not sure if that is a reason, because I had no special pageviews, just regular + 400, which is typical for a day, when I post a journal. I think that new visitors, who would be attracted by a journal, would probably (at least small part of them) visit my page, so I would have bigger number of pageviews
So this is a mystery, really...
As I said, I like my photo journals and I consider them my "trade mark", something which differs me from anot

Introduction to Cross StitchingCross StitchingIntroduction to Cross Stitching2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Cross stitch is one of a number of embroidery stitches, but usually the one most people are familiar with. Whether it was in a school art class or just randomly picking up a cross stitch kit as a kid, a lot of us have tried it at some point. Lets delve into this popular stitch a little bit.
What is a cross stitch?
As the name suggests, is is simply a cross, or an 'X' stitched with thread onto canvas. Typically, it's used to make a picture or a pattern. The stitch will form a complete square, and in this regard it is quite similar to pixel art. Through the placement of individual stitches adjacent to one another, an overall image will eventually appear.
It's an incredibly simple stitch, but can take some time to master. Like many crafts, it can be difficult to notice the
