The Digital Revolution Continues Here!WOW!!!!The Digital Revolution Continues Here!8 months ago in Personal More Like This
Seriously, what an incredible few days!!!
I wanted to capture a bit of the excitement and share my favorite digital comics and books, from pros and amateurs alike, because something really special is happening! I'll be sharing more in the coming weeks and months, but to kick you off and without further ado:
NEW USER GENERATED CONTENT
These books show a range of styles and approach, from classic static manga, to innovative use of sound and motion:
This parallax by Danesippi is deceptively simple, but works beautifully. So much depth!
The most basic use of the tool, but so amazingly designed and executed by Grozyll that it begs to be checked out.

Massive Mario CollabThe finished image is up!Massive Mario Collab6 months ago in Personal More Like This
Thanks everyone, you did amazing work!
For this collab, we will be drawing all the Mario characters we can!
:iconattention-plz: PLEASE READ ALL THE RULES BEFORE SIGNING UP! I don't want you to draw a character and not be allowed in because you missed a rule. ;_;
You don't have to be part of the group to join in the collaboration, but it's HIGHLY recommended at least for the duration of the collab because if I have any updates or new rules, I'm going to send the message here.
Any Mario character can only be in the collab once. In other words, if someone has already taken him/her/it, then you can't sign up them again.
When we're done, Zimeta will put together all the individual characters onto one big mural, much like her previous collabs:
Traditional or digital mediums are fine.

The Theme: Scary Video Game related Fan Art. all kinds of visual art are allowed, digital and traditional drawings, photos of sculptures, 3D model art (must be own models, ripped characters models don't count) or cosplay art.
You choose the game, the setting, the characters, important is only that it is something scary. Not scary in a cute way like a nice King Boo from Mario World, but really scary stuff, yes gore and violence is allowed as well. Gritty stuff, morbid stuff, horror elements are all fine.
Everything from a really scary looking undead League of Legends character to Pokemons etc is allowed.
In this contest you can also add characters from non-video game media like Freddy Krueger, Jason or the Super Natural Winchester Brothers getting eaten alive by Kirby. This contest is very unusual for this group, I k

Small Hints how to get views, faves etc.For a lot of you it might be nothing new, but since many of you are either new on dA or not experienced with something like "strategies" to get views, comments and faves for their works i (your most favourite dA group guy :icongbk666: ) thought i write up a few hopefully useful hints for you.Small Hints how to get views, faves etc.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
1. Upload as many drawings / photos etc. as you can. Some of you would argue now that it can be counterproductive if the deviations are not good, but i come to that point in #2
2. Join Groups. A Ton of them.. at least 15-25 . And submit your stuff to them on a regular base. BUT only the things you consider by yourself as "good" . The rest is for your gallery only, and interesting for those deviants who want to see sketches, WIP's etc.
A photographer often makes 100-500 photos in a 2-3 hours long shooting..but in the end only 1-3 of all these photos are getting uploaded /used for something since they are the best. Quality >Quantity . Always think that way.

Get out your Android, iPad, iPhone, or mobile platform of choice, and open the Madefire app. There's a bunch of new things I'd like you to check out.
The sections work like this:
This is 'classic' comic material. No bells, no whistles, just no bullshit, honest comics. (Indie creators and publishers should know we can put their material up within a couple of weeks of sending us a PDF. If your book isn't here you should ask yourself why not?)
This is where we continue to push the medium with a wide variety of cutting edge digital storytelling unique to each book. We also have books from top publishers - those that have had vision and were willing to push the envelope. You can get sucked in for hours.
We also have a deviantART section that features two categories:
The catch-all for pretty much everything anybody publishes on dA using the motion book tool. This ranges from single image parallax pa
Mario and Luigi: Dream Team Bros.As the title suggests, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. came out in my country and Europe yesterday. In fact, we're the first ones to get the game!! :iconmeowdummyplz: :iconhappymeowplz: :iconfuckyeahplz: At least, the tables have been turned on the Americans and the Japanese people. [rofl] On the bright side, it's fair now. The [United States of America] and Japan now have to play the "waiting game". You know, karma. What goes around, comes around. At long last, these said countries will get a taste of how we Brits and Europeans feel to wait so long for a game to be released. In a way, it feels satisfying. [Peace] I mean, seriously, how'd you like it if we had to wait for a very long, long time, huh? [frustrated]Mario and Luigi: Dream Team Bros.2 years ago in Personal More Like This

A Summer Contest Begins Today!Hello everyone!A Summer Contest Begins Today!9 months ago in Personal More Like This
To celebrate the 1 year Anniversary of Mario and Luigi Dream Team, our group is holding a summer contest, with the deadline being July 12th.
Seeing as summer is finally here, and the game's setting being on holiday, the theme shall be Summer/Beach/Pool/Holiday. It would also be a good idea to make sure you feature Luigi in your submission, befitting the group's name. You can find the submission folder named 'Summer Contest' now in the gallery.
The prizes this time are:
1st Place: 800 Points
2nd Place: 500 Points
3rd Place: 300 Points
With around a month and a half until the deadline, we hope you will all find some time to submit and compete!
Once again Admin :iconsagojyousartpage: and myself :iconwalkerp: will be judging on the quality of the piece, originality and adherence to the theme.
OCs are indeed allowed, as long as the main cast are featured alongside them.
If anyone has any questions, do not hesitate to ask!

AND THE WINNERS ARE....
KiShinYuu :with great lighting, a great expression, and a great style! This piece is simply wonderful!
NeoZ7:this is a very simple, but effective piece. It looks so good it almost looks like a capture from some sort of Mario TV show! The coloring style is great, and I enjoy the expression! Excellent job!
Villaman89: This is killer! I love the poses and that they actually drew an actiony sequence, which I appreciate. Real media is always something to be admired, and I like the style.
Thanks to all who entered, voted, and commented on the entries! We hope to see you

Mario's Blacklist is the Name for the next BIG Art Collaboration and basically the Super Mario Bros Series equivalent to Link's Blacklist.
The big focus are again the many enemies and bosses of the complete Mario Universe, ranging from Super Mario Bros to Super Mario World 3D, and all spinoffs like Mario RPG and and and.
As usual since 2014, you the Game-Art-HQ Contributors were able to participate a bit earlier than everyone else!
Rules and standards:
No gore, no sex, lets stick to the original designs.
Every artist can claim exactly one Enemy or Boss character of a Super Mario Game, from the Goomba to Bowser, all enemies and specific designs are allowed
Every enemys /boss can be claimed by only one artist in this first round of the project. If this new art collaboration will continue, the characters can get drawn by more artists just like how we did it in Link's Blacklist
With our latest Art Collaborations we raised the bar and also a ton

If you GET a distribution deal, you'll be in the long shadow cast by the big companies, buried in a dark corner of a vast monthly catalogue.
If you have no marketing budget, then your only option is to hit message boards, FaceBook, indie-driven comic sites, and by getting hold of a list of the internet comics news sites – they're easy enough to find, you just have to Google them.
If you have created your own book, and your dream is to see it printed, but you have literally no funds and nobody is willing to publish it, there are other great options, such as http://www.lulu.com/blog/tag/print-on-demand/. Here you can upload your entire book having placed it into one of the templates they provide, and you can then order a printed, bound copy direct from them for the price you set for it. Print on demand is an incredible innovation, and like Amazon, they will list your book for anybody to buy, they'll eve

I Got Angry! Pt.4 (Furious Interlude!)I was wondering to myself if I was STILL angry about things, even after all these years - and honestly? I really am!I Got Angry! Pt.4 (Furious Interlude!)8 months ago in Personal More Like This
Actually - I'm f**king pissed-off!!!
You'll be hard-pressed to find an artist that isn't!
We're over a barrel. We're art monkeys. We're work-for-hire engines that spit out the creations of others as best we can, striving to gain enough prominence to sustain an ongoing living, dreaming of a legacy.
We face hatred, the bitter barbs of trolls, the cruel dismissal of subjectivity, unfair comparisons with our peers.
We have to navigate taste, culture, the need for relevance.
We have to beat our way past the legions of others after the same job.
We have to remain immune to the jealous mutterings of those that fall along the way.
It SUCKS being a part of the machine, the self-serving circle of an industry consuming itself because it doesn't know any better. It's stuck in an ancient cycle, a rotating dance that is literally going nowhere!
So yes. I'm f**k
A Guide to Effective TaggingA new method to promote and discover art has been released to the community in the form of Tags! When submitting art, adding relevant tags to your deviations will help viewers discover art of interest to them and give your work more exposure.A Guide to Effective Tagging5 months ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
You can add tags based on a variety of things, be it subject matter, themes, medium used, fandom, or anything else you feel is important.
Use these tips to make the most of tags and help your art to find its audience:
Keep it simple. The less complicated the tag, the easier your art is to discover.
Be specific. If you take a picture of a rose, tagging it as #flower, while correct, won’t get your art as much attention as tagging it #rose will. You can, of course, tag both.
Tag efficiently. If your art is based on Lord of the Rings, tag it #LordOfTheRings and/or #lotr. You don’t need to tag every combination — t
I Got Angry! Pt.3I'm not an angry guy. I'm very mild-mannered. But there's SO MUCH I wish I had known up front, before I got into comics. There are rudimentaries that I'm kind of angry nobody clearly pointed out before I got in too deep.I Got Angry! Pt.38 months ago in Personal More Like This
Nobody tells you that in the mainstream, as an artist, you'll almost certainly be drawing stuff you're NOT prepared for, and don't really have any desire to do or passion for.
Are you hearing this? It's REALLY a big one:
You'll almost certainly be drawing stuff you're NOT prepared for, and don't really have any desire to do or passion for.
What does that mean? What are you saying Sharpie? How can that be right?
Well - and this is from experience - you won't generally get to draw or write the book you're most suited to.
Classic example: I've been trying to get a Conan gig my whole career - a book I'm so clearly suited to it's unreal, and pretty much every artist I know has said as much! - and yet, even after all this time (27 years

Anger and frustration.
That's what started it all!
I'm not somebody that feels entitled. I don't expect anything from the world, or anybody in it. That said, I did feel I had earned a fair hearing. I'd put in the years, drawn the BIG books, and the cool ones! I thought I should, by rights, be able to get at least one pitch for a creator-owned comic written and drawn by me off the ground. But though I must have pitched upwards of 30 titles across the board over a period of TEN YEARS, nothing landed.
So yes. I was angry and frustrated!
I was asked, by the very excellent Joseph Michael Linsner, what Madefire was all about a couple of weeks ago, following the Big Wow Comic Fest. It was a good question, as it pointed out a gap in our message, something people were perhaps not getting:
Why do it?
What was the need?
The need was to create a platform for the digital age on which creat

Getting into comics is something a lot of people want to know how to do, but there's a lot of questions you want to ask yourself first. There is such a vast array of genre and sub-genre, technique, approach, and so on, that it's important to be clear where you want to go with your work at the outset – and you have to be REALLY honest and tough on yourself.
Do you want to draw:
If you're into the capes and tights and you want to go mainstream you're going to have to want it incredibly badly, as the competition is the most extreme I've ever known it right now. There seems to be more titles than ever - and with the digital revolution more people are capable of producing sleek, mainstream quality art - but right across the
