It was a ridiculous thing to do. In the back of his mind, so tremendously muddled and unclear, that was the only thought he was truly certain of; to watch a human so carefully, to trace her every movement and grope about through her home, searching for traces of her being and to seek every shred of her past, to gape and stalk from the shadows--what did he gain from such trivial activities?
He could be hunting. Yes, he could have done that instead. He was hungry; it was ages since he had eaten. But no, eating would have to wait, because there was this human--this human who had so unexpectedly grasped his attention; this human who had so easily enraptured him.
What is it about her?
It was an unwanted emotion that flooded him. Yet a familiar one. It was embedded in his soul--if he had such a fragile thing--and in the very core of his existence.
