About PricingAlright, I know this is a huge thing in the adoptable community (or, well, the art community in general). I just want to say that, while I know for some my prices may be seen as overpriced, in most cases they are auction adoptables and thus people only pay what they're comfortable with (and whether that be $10 or $100+, please be respectful to the people who do choose to spend their money as they like).
I personally feel the art community is urged to underprice themselves. You don't have to agree with me, but that's what I've gathered from seeing artists over the years. But I'm going to talk about my art for this, specifically adoptables, so here's my breakdown: people are purchasing, not only character art, but the time it took to make as well as a character design. What that may be worth to one person may be worth something completely different to another, so I ask that you please respect that.
For auction prices going too high--I can't agree that there should be a point where
Let me just share some facts with ya'll...So it's just a normal day and you're just browsing your all-time favorite website, DeviantART. But then something catches your eye, a Deviation with a nicely drawn full-body with an interesting design. You click on it and see that design sold for a whopping 200+ USD. THAT'S ABSOLUTELY CRAZY, RIGHT?? I mean how dare the artist accept a good few hundred dollars for a design that even an ape could've made. After all, art doesn't take years and years of practice and anyone can just pick up a pen and pop out some great anatomy and originality.Let me just share some facts with ya'll...6 months ago in Personal More Like This
OHH BUT THE ARTIST ISN'T ENTIRELY AT FAULT HERE. Oh no, it's also the buyer's fault for spending so much goddamn money on a piece of digital art that the artist probably copied out of a Vogue magazine (since designing is effortless!!). How dare the buyer spend their money on something they love and enjoy instead of donating it all to starving children in third world countries along with all their luxury goods (like computers, television sets etc

I decided to make a more formal entry to prevent any future confusion over my adoptables, don't mind this lkmdg mostly just separating the earlier entry I made on guidelines + pricing so people don't think they have to read my rant on pricing LKMSG. while it's obvious I'm not very formal in my entries like this so please bear with me, I just want to get the basic gist across in an easy and understandable way. i hope to clean up my page to make all this stuff easy and accessible to find but i suck at coding anything so lol cries waits for seventy-three years
By purchasing an adoptable from me, you agree to the following:
Upon purchasing, you own the character. You may do whatever you wish with them, including using them for commercial work, you just can not use my art commercially.
Please credit me for the design where necessary.
Trading the adopt is fine, but if possible

Permission Issues and Art theft: It's sadly a common thing now.
It is a huge problem on deviantART/ internetz.
But wait! IDK what art theft is..Then Read this!
Art theft is unacceptable. Think about how long people spend on their works. And how much of themselves go into it. Now someone else has spent 0 seconds and claimed it as theirs. NO.
You must credit resources. That includes OCs, stocks, brushes, textures, snippets of code(no, changing the colors of a journal skin does not mean you made it) , tutorials(sometimes).
Written credits. Google images is not good enough.

Warning List [Adoptable Community]WELL LIKE I HAD SUSPECTED in my recent auction the bid wasn't serious, so I figured I may as well make a journal to compile a list of names to be wary of in the adopt community. I genuinely hope this doesn't have frequent additions, but I want to make sure that what happened to me doesn't happen to anyone else.Warning List [Adoptable Community]5 months ago in Personal More Like This
As I'd like this to get the best use possible, if you have anyone you think should be added to the list you can share with me the info, but you must provide proof as I don't want cases of he-said she-said. I'll only add names if I'm 100% certain they deserve to be added, and anyone added is free to contest it for removal. lol i hope this is more helpful than dramaful i know it has such a high potential for drama but okay with great power comes great responsibility peter parker
Before anyone is added to this list I will either ask the informer to note them (if it's a personal thing) or I will not them myself if that is better suited to give them
Commission - Approach and Pricing GuideDo you do commission work? Do you have trouble to get customers in order to buy commissions from you? Or Are you in a dilemma to set your own "competitive" commission price?Commission - Approach and Pricing Guide3 months ago in Art Features More Like This
If your answer is "yes" to any of the above questions then you are at the right place! Today, I'll tell you (or at least give you a better idea) how to start up with your commission work and setting up the right price.
A little introduction about myself: I am a hobby-driven artist who mainly deals with CSS coding and graphics designing (now) in deviantART. As a profession I am currently employed as an online marketing professional who looks after two leading online gaming brands. I like to help people customize their pages and support them to be a better artist in deviantART.
Having given my short introduction let us first understand that why most of us face a lot of trouble to get commission work or worst, to set up the "right" price for their service.

Just an update incase someone wonders. I have also made human characters /robots cost more since they take way more time to make.
You can NOT resell art you buy from me in any way.
copyrights and ownership of the drawing remains to me. (the desings of the character is copyrighter to their rightful owner)
You can use art you buy from me for personal usage only.
You may however resell character designs you buy from me, but you can not include any art Ive done for you of that character in the price. This artwork automatically is free for use to whoever buys the design.
Any art I create, I have the right to use for personal showcasing, if someone wants to use it for personal reasons (such as homepages, forums, and so on) , they will have to get an agreement

Copyright and "Theft"
Why sharing can be illegal.
There is quite a bit of confusion about copyright law, the DMCA, fair use, de minimus, etc. And rightly so. I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt when I come across what appears to be a "theft" issue. Even people in the United States, the home of the DMCA and one of the strongest supporters of

A.k.a. "That beautiful detailed flowery art style".
Art Nouveau is an art movement that was most popular between 1890 and 1910. It originated in England and France, where it spread over the last two decades of the 19th century. The origins in each respective country vary though. For example, the German "Jugendstil" was first used 1897 as criticism against cheap mass production of works from artists like Henry van de Velde. Art Nouveau was by far no consistent art movement; there were several geographical differences, although some basic characteristics stayed the same. Those key features are decorative curves and flowery elements.
All in all "Art Nouveau" constisted of divergent art movements in Europe.

reposted art removalI think a lot of people might already know this but having only recently found it myself. I think it's a good opportunity to share it with everyone! If someone has posted your art on deviantart without your permission, there's a really simple way of having taken down instead of filing a report (which, from experience is completely ineffective). All you have to do is fill out this form, it's a DMCA form which means as the copyright owner of the art you can elect to have it taken down, by law.reposted art removal2 months ago in Personal More Like This
I didn't find out about filing DMCAs on deviantart until I googled it (silly I know) but they have long existed on tumblr and I've also seen one on weheartit.com. Filing DMCAs seem to be a lot more effective, the art is taken down in a couple of days. And in the case with tumblr all reblogs of the post in question are also deleted, along

Sad topic is sad. But this has gone too far.
I tend not to write public-execution-type journals for both me and the person's sake, but unfortunately, I have to bring this issue to public due to various reasons which i'll be explaining them in a bit. But before I do, I ask people who are reading this to promise one thing: don't take this as a token to write nasty comments or try to confront this deviant - there is absolutely no point for any of you to go low, or spend time for useless effort. And if you're totally against with these type of journals, just don't read it alright... I don't need people trying to lecture me later what i've done is wrong/mean, it's none of my business, etc. I've done what I thought it needs to be done.
Well then, now that the warning is set, let's move on to the point what this person has done and my reasoning why I had to go public.
So it all started few days a

I just uploaded a new tutorial, the first in the series, all about making 2D tiles and tile sets for games!
Things covered in this episode:
- The anatomy of a basic tileset
- Setting up and using Photoshop's grid system for making tiles
- Using Photoshop's Offset filter to make tiles seamless
- Adapting a tiling texture into a tileset
- Some results of a finished basic tileset
- Thoughts and some opinions!

Also recently uploaded by Tyler Edlin, this video about perspective drawing where I also have a segment about how to make perspective grids in Photoshop!
By the way, have you been paying attention to my tumblr? I post stuff like this more often there, as I only see my DA journal as a means to communicate about mo

How to fix outgoing links [Update]:: Updated 11.oct.13 ::How to fix outgoing links [Update]2 months ago in Personal More Like This
So today deviantArt decided to mess up with outgoing links by adding an ugly arrow symbol.
I found how to get rid of it by pure luck and I thought I should share it.
all you have to do is manually add the "http://deviantart.com/users/outgoing?" in front of your links. If you don't, dA will automatically add it and in the same time add the ugly arrow along.
Let's take an example.
I want to link... Google, let's say.if I just type
<a href="http://www.google.com/"> Google we get

On the other hand, if I type
